One of those blinds failed in the very first summer we owned it. Since then, the company has been out to "repair" the same blind at least ten times. At one point, they shipped it back to Hunter Douglas, leaving us without a window treatment for two of the three months we actually live in the townhome each year. Despite the repeated failures, they have refused to replace the defective blind. Instead, they continue to send technicians out for the same problem, and after year 1 they charge us a service fee every single time. We have pleaded with them to stand behind their product and provide a replacement, but they clearly care more about billing for service calls than actually solving the issue. Their service approach can only be described as "we don't care about our customers." If you are considering using this company, my advice is simple: stay away.

Installation was easy to schedule, quick and convenient. They removed the old shades and cleaned up afterwards. It's been over a year since the blinds were installed. The motor on one of the shades stopped working. I called and they were able to get a new shade ordered and installed within a few weeks. I will always recommend them and will be a customer for life!

This Menards is relatively close to me and it's handy.  However I don't really come here very often…read moreand it seems it's mainly when I need light bulbs or furnace air filters and such.  It's a large, bright, and clean location, and is seldom crowded as I almost never come on the weekends.  The interior was renovated maybe 5 years ago and it is bright and attractive throughout.  Their prices are competitive for most hardware and utility items.  They also have a packaged goods grocery section, and one item I have found that is a great value here is coffee filters, and they are much cheaper here than anywhere else for whatever reason.  Some other items I used to buy here regularly years ago were bird feed and garden flowers, but we have since gone to other suppliers for such. I once also got a quote from them for a big kitchen cabinet replacement project.  The staffer was helpful, but in the end, they weren't competitive with just going directly to a cabinet supplier for any particular cabinet quality.  Their approach was one of being a middleman, and they had no real control of the project timing as it was up to the cabinet supplier anyway.  But Menards was helpful for the project research anyway, and they could possibly be right for you depending on your project execution style. Menards also has frequent 11% off promos.  Sometimes it involves whatever you can fill in a paper shopping bag, but more often it is in the form of an old-fashioned mail-in rebate which is annoying and antiquated these days.  Overall though, it's a big plus to have this Menards around us.

While trying to manage my moms transition from the hospital to a skilled nursing facility, my own leave of absence from work, and missing my last child's last football game and all the other senior year activities - I was overwhelmed. I also needed to choose the right paint colors to make their home as attractive to buyers as possible, which in the best of situations is challenging, but I was in a serious pinch. Thankfully, God IS good - all the time! I walked in to JC Licht because they were the closest store to my moms SNF that sold BM paint. Ada (not sure about the spelling, sorry Ada!) approached me and I told her the three paint colors I thought I was looking for - but I really had not had time to consider how much natural light or lack there of, or how the colors would look with their hardwoods, or any of the other dozens of things that can make a paint color "all good" or terrible. She listened to every bit of information I could give her, and confidently told me the paint color and trim color I needed. And she was 100% right!!! She also helped me think through all of the other items I would need, helped me choose the right caulk, make sense of what tools I really needed (as well as what I didn't) and set up an account for me. I thought we'd be out by the middle of November, but as October moved into November, moved into December, I realized that she was right again! I needed one, it cost nothing and saved me a bundle! This young woman knows her stuff and she was SO much more than kind in her assistance to me. JC Licht Vernon Hills is fortunate to have such a competent - no skilled - no gifted! sales person working for them! Thank you Ada!!! Their house finally made it onto MLS Dec. 30th and it looks beautiful, thanks to your help! You are a remarkable young woman, and I realize that to you - it may seem like you did an old girl a small service, but I was SO overwhelmed, and you cleared my confusion, saw EXACTLY what was needed and guided me perfectly! Odell picked up the phone after a couple rings introduced himself, thanked me for calling and asked what project he could assist with. After the Q&A I went in to purchase supplies for our remodel and Odell greeted me as soon as I walked in. Odell made my experience a smooth one with no up selling only recommending the supplies I needed with each having an explanation of why he recommended each item. She called when it was ready. When I went to pick it up another coworker that has started his shift helped me. There was some confusion on if my credit card was run but it got sorted out. Then today my painter needed another two gallons and I called it in and they had it ready. Great customer service and they are very polite and friendly.

The woman wrote things on the paper to then enter them on the computer, including the phone number. There is only one account, and she took 30 minutes to " find" the paints I needed, as I stood there watching 2 other costumes with the same request getting in and being checked out by the other associate. She finally finds the paint, mixes the color, and gives it to me, $242. Getting home, I notice that she mixed the color on the ceiling paint, and the premium wall paint was white. The opposite of what she needed to do. We call the manager and before accepting us to return and get the right one, he mentions they don't accept color back, like it's out fault his employee doesn't know what's she is doing. We are the ones paying a premium for paint and wasting one hour of hour time for it, he should at least have apologized and made sure to correct their mistake without giving us attitude. I'll make sure never to go to this store again.

She was the biggest help to me when it came to picking out wallpaper and paint colors. She has been so patient throughout the entire process, and her knowledge when it comes to paint colors and wallpaper is off the charts! She would have me send pictures of the room, and even just from a photo would be able to tell me what would work. Sure enough her instincts were spot on every time...I'd bring home what she suggested to see in the room and she was always right! She takes all factors into account, and makes sure that she has a very good grasp on what is going on in a room (furniture, decor, light, adjacent rooms, etc) before suggesting colors. The process of picking out wallpaper proved to be harder than anticipated, as many of my selections were either discontinued or the minimums were way beyond what I needed for bathrooms and a mudroom. Linda always had back-up suggestions for me of similar papers that would work with price points that were always within my budget. She also helped us pick out our window treatments for a few rooms, and once again really knew how to tie it all together. If you need guidance when it comes to paint colors, wallpaper and window treatments you MUST go see Linda. Her help was invaluable to me and to the many others who I have referred to her. I have to also mention that everyone else who works at this JC LIcht is equally as kind, helpful and accommodating.

Stopped in today for another 6+ gallons to complete my current project, only To find the prices increased $25+ per gallon with no exceptions, thru the removal of all loyalty, great customer discounts. Spoke to the manager and he only reiterated the price increase and said there was nothing he could do. I had to buy a few gallons since the project was already started ( no choice). I've lived in the town for decades and they have always portrayed themselves as a local store...not any more!!! All future business is going to competitors....Save the hassle and lots of money!!!
