Do not get wallpaper from this location or maybe any sherwin store! Ordered 9 double rolls which I…read morewas told I could return any unopened rolls. Told it would come in 10 days. Paid in full. 300.00. After 15 days and no call I decided to just stop in and check. It was in fact there, they sent the wrong paper (not the stores fault). They checked and said it would be shipped express. Waited another 10 days no call. Still not in. Waited another 10 and stopped in while I was in the area. Still not in!!! Got home (30 minutes away) and no sooner did I get home then they called saying it had "just come in" suspicions but whatever. Got paper hung in all measured areas (that I gave dimensions for) and was left with 3 entire double rolls (about 100.00). Went back today at about 11:40 am and tried to return them. Here's where it gets "good". The guy behind the counter was disinterested and said "there is a restocking fee of 40%. Wasn't told this when he over ordered my dimensions but ok needed to buy more paint supplies anyway. After much dicking around on the computer was told to leave the paper with them and he would call me later. I asked for some kind of proof that I was leaving the rolls there and he was quite miffed about this. So I just decided to leave with my rolls and never return! We also were interested in buying a collapsible ladder when we asked how much they were the "man" that was waiting on us said 200-300 I guess. He was probably one of the rudest employees I have seen. Terrible company rep.!!! Had they told me I couldn't return the unused rolls it wouldn't have been a big deal but to have had the trouble of waiting over a month for errors and no apology, no sympathy about it on top of the rudeness it's just to much. Really to bad because I just bought a new home and would've been spending THOUSANDS in there. Nope, guess Lowe's or Home Depot will get my money instead.

I wanted to give Benjamin Moore paint a try, and they were the closest store that sold it. I ended up needing to bring my 1 1/2-year-old son along, which is NOT ideal, as a paint store really isn't a great place for a baby (even one closely watched by mom). But everyone there was SO friendly and helpful, both to me and my son! First, after looking at a swatch for the color I -thought- I wanted, I realized it was more orange-toned than I liked. One of the ladies at the store immediately asked if I needed help, and when i described what I wanted, she pulled out numerous swatches and told me which ones in the color range I wanted were the most popular. After I settled on a color, they immediately mixed it up. The guy at the mixing counter was great, showing my little boy how they tinted the paint and put it in the mixer, then showing him the finished color. Afterward, they put my paint cans in a box so they wouldn't roll around in my car, and one of the employees carried them out for me! I won't say this is the cheapest paint I've ever bought -- not by a long shot -- but the experience was definitely much more pleasant than at any mega-home-improvement store I've bought paint at! We'll certainly be back.

I should take away a star from Anderson Paint, just for closing the store on William Street…read more Anderson's is the only place I buy paint and supplies if I can help it. They carry the best brands: Benjamin Moore, Graham and California Frescoat. If you follow the coverage of paint in Consumer Reports, California was the highest rated brand last year, and Bennie Moore is always close to the top. They can make your paint job last 10 years, rather than the standard five to seven years. The staff knows a lot about paint. They can tell you what kind to use and how to put it on. They'll warn you about problems you might encounter with the preparation and painting, if you can manage to get to the store when they are not too busy and talk to them about your project. They have a great selection of tools and supplies, and everything is well organized. I never end up wandering around wishing I could find the right thing, which does happen at Lowe's. Yes, the paint sells for $30 to $65 and per gallon, but that's what real paint costs. You can get paint for as little as $16 per gallon at Lowe's, but I wouldn't use their paint outdoors; indoors it can probably hold because it doesn't have to stand up to the weather. Anderson's also has a store on Stadium Boulevard, north of Stadium and Liberty, and that's the store I've been using since they closed the downtown store. But I have been into the Washtenaw store a couple of times and the staff is every bit as good as the other store. They did a good job putting together orders for different kinds of paint, including a couple of tough custom matches.

Del from Delta painting, more than anyone else I have worked with in any area of contracting in the…read morelast two years, has been a standout. He does work of equal quality to anyone, with faster turn around times, frequently with better prices, and - perhaps most importantly - he simply does an amazing amount of things, minimizing the number of calls you have to make to businesses that only do one thing and nothing else. He has painted, installed two steel exterior doors, built a set of steps to a basement, swapped out outlets, patched ceilings, diagnosed heating system issues, and installed registers in heating ducts. Delta Painting is not just a painting service - with Del, you get a handyman of the old school, who can do anything as well as anybody and generally do it with less hassle. My only hesitation in recommending him is that you may get him on your schedule before I do.

Del who I believe owns Delta, was fantastic to work with. I originally hired him to fix some very…read moredamaged wood paneling and paint the exterior of my house. He also operates as a handyman. I was fixing my house up to sell after some neglect by tenets and water damage. I ended up using Del to refinish all my windows, do interior paint touch up, add some extensions to downspouts and other work. His work was always on time, exactly what he quoted, or time and material costs as agreed to. He was always available to call text and send pictures as I was doing this from out of state. Del would suggest cost saving options rather than suggesting you buy all new windows like most window companies will do. I would use Del to do any future work they didn't require a plumber/electrician. Fantastic!
