I asked two different male employees in two different areas of the store for help, and both gave me incorrect directions that sent me to the opposite end of the building, forcing me to walk the full length of the store multiple times for no reason. Each time I asked a female employee, I was given the correct aisle and real help immediately. One female associate even said she knew exactly which male employee I was talking about, which suggests this behavior is known internally. I escalated this to the General Manager, Juan Horton. He asked me to call him, gave me a number that did not work as a direct line, I notified him by email, and he never followed up. This wasn't just bad service. It was a repeated, directional pattern of obstruction that only happened with male employees, while women employees were competent and helpful. That is gender-based discriminatory treatment, on top of a complete management failure. This is a store culture problem, not a one-off mistake.

With the current pandemic and my own lack of car, I was having difficulty finding a place that could do it. A few said they couldn't do it at all because of the design, a few said that I would have to bring it to them (which I have no way of doing), and a few quoted prices that were just too high. Abdullah responded to my request very quickly, gave me a good price that included pickup and delivery, and was able to schedule me within a day. The installer, Alan, showed up on time and took the mirror down the elevator by himself, fixed it within a few hours, and then returned it the same day and helped put it back in the slide. To top it all off, I was able to do almost the entire process through text/email, which for me is a big deal. It was quick, priced well, and very professional. Also, the new mirror looks great. Highly highly recommend.

The job was flawless and looked better than a factory finish. They also mounted our new hardware too. Considering the amount of work they did, this project was a pretty fast turn around. Luke and his team were timely, professional and their quality of work was impeccable - they are just overall great to work with for shorter or longer-term projects. As we think about future needs, Venetian Designs will 100% be our go-to team. We had a laundry lists of project "asks" for Luke and his team: paint our entire house (three floors), install new base boarding and trim throughout the house (inclusive of our old wooden windows), paint our kitchen cabinets, create built-in shelving and cabinets for our living room, install recessed lighting throughout our home, install new doors throughout the home, gut and completely remodel 2.5 bathrooms, add wainscoting as accents, sand and re-stain our staircases and re-do the aesthetics and tiling around our fireplace, finish unfinished closet space to turn into a wine cellar, finish another unfinished area of our basement including adding ceiling tiles (to name a few). One of the many things we truly appreciated in working with Luke and his team was their willingness to expand their typical work expertise beyond painting, which by the way, is picture perfect as they really know how to pay attention to all the small details...my wife and I still joke that we can get lost in the deep blue on one of the walls. What I can't stress enough is how great of a project manager Luke is. He is open about other jobs that his team may have, but will always make you feel like you're his priority. He's always responsive and doesn't "ghost" his customers. In terms of project planning, Luke did a thorough job thinking through our master shower remodel which included stripping down an older tub and shower and turning the space into a 6 foot long shower. This is the type of contractor you want to partner with you and what separated Luke from the other contractors we evaluated early in the remodel decision. Again, what really sets Venetian Designs apart is their abilities to project plan, to provide guidance on whether or not something is structurally possible or aesthetically makes sense and to be proactive in communication around timelines, cost, materials needed, etc. He was truly transparent about what could be done within our budget and provided great ideas for alternative ways to achieve the look that we wanted. These were such refreshing qualities and my wife and I were low stress throughout the entire project. Please enjoy some of the before and after pictures of our home below. Please note that Luke did not install our hardwood floors, but recommended an awesome flooring guy for us who we would also recommend to others (@Flooring by Krystian). Please feel to message me directly if you would like more details on our experience with Venetian Designs. Many thanks to Luke again for making our first home perfect!!!

We have a ranch home, our paint job excludes door, garage door and shutters, includes only wood trim. 03/06/24 Issued check for $500.00 deposit to secure job 04/25/24 Deposit check was cashed While the weather prolonged the start of our job, Preferred Painting failed to touch base with us. My husband had to reach out and find out when we were going to be 'on the schedule'. We had finally reached a point where we were told the power washing would be done, it may be Thurs, July 25th or Friday, July 26th. That changed to Friday, possibly Sat. Friday, July 26th at nearly 6:00 PM Abraham arrived to power wash. 06/26/24 power washing of the trim was done, completed in less than an hour and a half. The siding was NOT power-washed even though we agreed to the extra charge for it to be done. We were told the crew would be at our home at 7:00 AM the next morning to start painting. 06/27/24 one guy showed up by 7:00 AM, a second guy showed up a couple hours later and Abraham a number of hours after that. Painting started, but job not finished. Before leaving, Abraham informed my husband that a second coat of paint was needed in certain areas of the trim, as more paint came off during prepping and scraping than anticipated, and there may be an additional charge. Derrick then texted and advised us of the additional charge. The amount specified seemed high. I presented some facts to Derrick, about the situation and his crew, and asked him to consider the same when adding the additional fee. I was not asking him to not charge us, I was asking him to consider all that had already happened when coming up with the amount of the additional charge. Derrick stated the amount he told us is his standard amount and since we were at an impasse, he would have his guys come back to drop off the paint and we could finish the job ourselves. My husband then talked more with Derrick, they came to an agreement on an additional cost and Derrick confirmed Preferred Painting would be completing the job they started. Derrick reached back out and shared his appreciation of the talk. Rain again caused delay. 07/30/24 we were notified that another job had to be finished over the next couple of days so the crew would be back on Friday. 08/02/24 Abraham and another guy arrived by 7:00 AM. It was clear that Derrick had spoken with his crew, as Abraham was rude and unprofessional. The guys were gone around 9:00 AM. Abraham did not confirm that additional work was to be done or that the job had been completed. Abraham did NOT do a final walk through, he did not advise me they were leaving - they simply left a can of leftover paint at the front door and disappeared. From our experience with Preferred Painting, the contract is a mere formality and not truly followed. The standard portion of the agreement requests that someone be home at the start of the job for walk through before the work begins, and at the end of the job for a walk through to confirm completion. In checking the job, we found some areas that were very poorly done. Derrick was notified of his crew simply leaving and was sent some pictures of the unacceptable work. We asked Derrick to come check the result. 08/06/24 Derrick came to walk through; we pointed out that the power washing had not been done as it should have been done (entire home). We also pointed out the areas of the trim where work was not completed. Derrick agreed to have his guys come back to finish up. Derrick also agreed to credit us a portion of the charge for the power washing as it was not completed as expected. 08/09/24 Followed up with Derrick to find out when someone was going to complete our paint job. He informed us that Abraham was working in the city and finishing Monday. Here we are again, being delayed for a different job. 08/13/24 Derrick informed us he will be sending out another one of his guys. 08/20/24 Derrick confirmed Jose will be coming to finish painting on 08/21/24. 08/21/24 Jose showed up on time, assessed all that needed to be done and completed the job. Jose was friendly and thorough, he also confirmed completion of the painting. Walk through was completed and final payment was issued. No one has control of the weather, but the fact that our job was put on hold so the crew can complete other jobs was not understood. Preferred Painting left us to believe that we were less important than their other jobs. Derrick reached out to confirm completion and apologized for the delays. While the end result is satisfactory, it was discouraging that we were not valued as a customer.

I…read moredefinitely underestimated how slow water damage is until what I thought was a very small leak from my upstairs neighbor grew from a 1/4-centimeter gap to over 3 inches. I remembered how much I liked Adrian when he fixed our screen door locks and painted our exterior doors, but I didn't think Lookswell Painting did any kind of mounting or cabinet repairs. After an exhausting amount of estimates and insurance calls, I finally contacted them thinking, "The worst they can tell me is 'no.'" To my delight, they agreed to investigate my cabinet sagging and the water damage. (As luck would have it, my over-the-range microwave survived and had no damage at all.) Instead of Adrian, Guillermo showed up, who was friendly, informative and easy to work with. We did have a hiccup with the microwave, which ended up being broken during the remount. That is the only reason I'm not giving this a five-star review. For consumers, I STRONGLY recommend filming and showing your electronic appliances work BEFORE any contractor arrives. It's difficult to prove that an appliance used to work (especially during a water damage repair) when it stops working mid-job. Couple other critiques were that the microwave doors were out of alignment and one set of cabinet doors was put in upside down. Although Jim (the owner) is absolutely NOT a people person and could've made a bad situation much much much worse, I respect that Guillermo was reasonably cool and Anthony (office manager) was professional and polite too. To Jim's credit, he did offer a happy medium with the microwave that my insurance would cover. I was relieved when Guillermo returned with Angel because this was a two-person job in the first place and over-the-range microwaves are heavy. Although it was obvious that Guillermo was not nearly as enthused be there the second time around, he and Angel did the job that needed to be done. He also tested and photographed the microwave remount and made sure I did too. I've walked past my kitchen and smile every time I see that the cabinet and microwave are fixed. Family came over for my birthday and also complimented the work this week. Even through the hiccups, I would still say this is a job well done and would continue to recommend them to others since 2020. While I wish it could've been a smooth repair the way the other one was, life happens. I still respect this company's work.
