I can't recommend Old Skool Plumbing enough. We had a leaky outdoor faucet, and Seth was able to…read morecome round same day. He was polite, communicative, and gave honest feedback. He triaged the situation and shared how he was going to attempt to fix it. He started with the easiest and most cost effective option, only doing a more intensive repair when the first strategy wasn't successful, which I really appreciated. The cost for the service was excellent, and he gave us recommendations to consider going forward. Will definitely use Old Skool Plumbing again!

I was out of town when a tenant called me and said a pipe had burst behind the washing machine…read more The house has CPVC pipes that crack easily (all plumbers have told me this) Turns out the washer bumped it and snapped the pipe right in the wall. Thinking quickly, she ran to the garage and found the plastic pvc valve behind the hot water tank.... something that probably hadn't been closed in decades. And, in a panic, used a wrench or something to turn the valve.... which promptly snapped THAT pipe off. (Which is actually not too bad, since it stopped the flood inside the house and was just blasting out in the garage.) Anyway, I called about 10 different plumbers and got everything from phone disconnected to "virtual assistants" in like Arizona, even some awful AI that pretended to be a person and was like, "Oh my, yes, I can see how a burst pipe is a problem. Can you tell me more about it?" God, it was awful. Then I call Old Skool and he was already on a job, but heard the drama and was like, "Ok, let me put this stuff away. I can get there in an hour or so". 30 minutes later he was at the house. Luckily, the neighbor had turned the water off at the street by then. So, he explained what had happened gave me a very fair price, then went out and got the parts he needed, fixed everything very nicely, calmed down my tenant, sent me some before-after photos, and I paid him via an online invoice. Dude basically saved me from having to put up an entire family in a hotel while I waited for those other guys to show up and probably make crazy bids. Instead, tenant spent the evening at home wet-vacing up the mess and running a dehumidifier. Still gonna be some water damanage, but I'm pretty sure I'd be out +$10k if that had to sit a few days. Instead, this dude came in, calmly took care of the situation. If you're a homeowner, this is a good number to have on your contractor list. (attached is the before and after of the hot-water-tank pipe fix)

I recently hired this plumbing company, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely…read moredisappointing. Amanda quoted me $100/hour for labor, along with a travel fee since my home is 31 minutes from their office. She also mentioned that the plumber might bring an apprentice, but assured me there would be no additional charge for that--only to later deny this claim. If the owner (Greg?) records phone calls, I highly recommend he reviews them. On the day of the service, the lead plumber, Gary, and his apprentice, Jeff, arrived at 9:37 am and finished the work by 11:20 am--under two hours. Afterward, they spent 20 minutes preparing the bill, which totaled a staggering $814. The breakdown was confusing and did not align with the original quote. It included a $150 travel fee, $200 for Gary's labor, inflated charges for materials ($133 + $25), and a surprise $125 fee for the apprentice, directly contradicting Amanda's assurance that there would be no extra charge. Even with the unexpected apprentice fee, the total should have been about $687, including tax. I pointed out the discrepancies to Gary, especially regarding the apprentice charge and the inflated total. However, Gary refused to listen and became increasingly aggressive. When I contacted Amanda for clarification, she denied her previous statements and insisted the apprentice rate was $50/hour (which also contradicts the $125 charge on the bill). In an attempt to resolve the situation, I offered to pay $100 extra just to settle the matter, but Gary insisted he had undercharged me and claimed he should bill me for 2.5 hours instead (including his time spent preparing the bill, and rounding up!). He threatened to undo the work unless I paid on the spot. When I called Amanda again, the situation escalated, and I had to contact 911. Gary then threatened to put a lien on my property, at which point I told him I was prepared to take the matter to court. Only after this confrontation did Gary agree to settle the bill for $645--still about $100 more than what I should have paid. I suspect the issue stemmed from Amanda's rough estimate of $1,245 for the job, which may have been passed on to Gary despite our agreement on an hourly rate. It appeared as though Gary was fixated on meeting that higher estimate (I suspect he might be working on commission). As a minority, I also sensed there might have been some bias involved. Gary seemed to think the threat of legal action would pressure me into submission. (To be clear, most people in this community have been welcoming and kind, so this was an isolated experience.) A final comment.. the "head plumber" Gary had a consistently negative attitude throughout the entire job. He wore a sour expression, as though I was inconveniencing him by simply being a customer. His demeanor was unprofessional, and he appeared to fix the problems begrudgingly as I pointed them out. I have seen reviews describing him as helpful, so it is possible he was having a bad day, but that is no excuse to bring such negativity into a customer interaction.

It was end of day Friday and they couldn't see me until Monday afternoon. I had other calls out and one responded that could be to my place Saturday morning. I had them stop by and they fixed the issue. I called Plumb Line that Monday morning to cancel our appointment since it had already been resolved and they stated that they were still going to charge me $145 dollars regardless to cancel the appointment. They were closed over the weekend and had no other opportunity to talk to anyone to cancel. I'm sure they're great at repairs but the billing side for a cancellation is uncalled for. Just be certain you want to use them or you could receive a substantial fee for cancellation.
