DO NOT USE VAN BEEK EVER!…read more My contractor took me to Van Beek, who she was working with for only a few months. I made a full payment in cash to the owners daughter, Amanda, who was at the oakville location, and now in Mississauga. I paid in full, the cost of stones that were being delivered to my house for my patio work. As I left and went in to the car, my contractor stayed behind and BEHIND MY BACK, Amanda made an agreement with the contractor to give half the cash back to the contractor and told her she can give it later. Amanda made a new reciept to the order of my contractors name "Marcella Malkova" for the owing amount of $4746 privately. Once Marcella disappeared, this is the amount they are saying that somehow I owe them. My contractor ran away with thousands of dollars from me and many other people without finishing the work. The contractor also ran away without returning the cash Amanda took and gave her from my full payment. Amanda's father, the owner then put a Lien on my house because I REFUSE TO PAY THEM THE MONEY I ALREADY GAVE TO THEM. The mistake I made was that I failed to notice that they did not give me a receipt at the time of payment. Although, I have a receipt from my contractor saying that I paid for all the stones on the exact same day. When I approached them with my shock after receiving a letter stating they have put a lien on my house, they told me and admitted to this whole situation. They are the ones who told me all this happened (by mistake because Amanda was young). Amanda admitted (I have recordings) to have trusted my contractor and thought it was ok to secretly give the contractor half of my payment I made to her, thinking she will get it back later. I am so appalled by this company and how they operate. The owner now refuses to talk to us because of what mistake his daughter made, and is trying to have us pay legal fees and incurring interest...on an amount that was fully paid! He states that because the contractor put the stone on our property, we are responsible. EVEN THOUGH THEY ADMIT WE PAYED THEM FULLY. We will be taking this legally but I want to warn as many people as I can because this is such a sketchy business and I cannot let anyone else go through the distress they are putting me in. THESE GUYS ARE CROOKS. Also, they were giving my contractor stones on loan for other customers and once she ran away they also threatened to put liens on other innocent home owners.

Another day, another garden centre as a willing hostage for my sweetheart!…read more It seems I've (we've) been on a country tour of these venues for the past few months. Another city, another eye appealing experience. There was no customer lineup here for entry. It was sunny but high humidity was in the air. Still, it the 3rd day of Step 1 for the re-opening of Ontario and it was sooooo nice to be outdoors today. This Mississauga store is mid-sized compared to recent ginormous garden centres recently visited. Indoor and outdoor product selection was great and pricing was excellent! Aisles are narrow and a shopping basket is the way to go both inside and outdoors. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Checkout was quick. (Just wish staff wouldn't complain about another staff being late for a shift in front customers...easily minus one star!) Parking is limited at the front entrance but there are more spots at the side of the building. Wait for it..... Yes, we came home with 5 plant additions to the home!

I went to Agram Garden Center to purchase 5 - 30 by 26 inch patio stones. I was able to call and…read morespeak with someone very easily so that was nice. However, trying to find where I needed to go wasn't easy, the dust dirtied my car and I had to personally lift all 5 - 105lbs patio stones into my trunk. The stones were nice looking but ended up being the wrong colour. I kept the receipt, assuming I could return like I have in the past at Home Depot. However, as I called the gentlemen, an understatement at best, the man who picked up sounded and also acted like the boss, it may have been so. I explained, I was in yesterday and bought the patio slabs but they aren't the right ones. I asked if I could return them and he said no with a negative tone. finally, he offered me store credit which is not what I want. They pay the boys who lift these heavy stones most likely minimum wage and I ha for lift myself. After that experience he has lost me as a customer, sparked a negative review and will lose business from not only me but my entire family and some friends in Oakville. I was born and raised here along with my mother. We are involved in work which could provide business for million dollar mansion owners. However, Agram's will not be getting the contracts that's for sure. treat people right and don the right thing! Hope your reading this pal because I promise your attitude and cheapness Of not letting me return $42.50 of Patio Stones has cost you thousands of dollars from me, thousands from my family and potentially Hundreds of Thousands from the future clients who would of been sent your way. As I was walking out of Starsky in the same plaza I looked up I see in bright shining letters "BIRD SEED"! I drove across the parking lot and saw that Urban Nature Store was offering curbside pick up. I hadn't placed a pre-order, but the employee was nice enough to help me. I asked for a basic bag of feed - I'm no bird expert, the feeder was a gift. Apparently they have 16 types of bird seed, who knew. I paid $12 for a large bag of their most popular/standard seed - it was the smallest one they carried and I suppose it makes sense given you likely have to refill it quite often. The transaction was done quick and safe and I was grateful to have come across this shop, which I have never noticed before.
