I went to this gas station the other day when my gas light came on. I was in a pinch, but saw that this full service station was charging $3.29/gallon, which seemed really cheap. I was paying with a credit card, and assumed that I might be paying a bit more per gallon (although nothing was posted saying this).
While the gas was pumping into the car, the gentleman that worked at the gas station walked over to the front of the car with the station windshield washer. He remarked that my windshield looked pretty clean, and I told him he didn't need to bother. He said he would wash my back window, and I told him that was fine.
When I was almost done at the station, I looked and noticed I was charged $3.79/gallon. When the man came back with a credit card receipt for me to sign I asked if I was charged $0.50/gallon because I paid by credit card. He said, "No, you're in the full service lane. We wash your windows, check your oil level, and check your tire pressure . . . if you want." He made NO attempt to provide any of these services, not even after confronted about the inflated price.
He then told me the next time I came to the station that I should pull the next lane over which has a sign reading "Mini Serve." I have never in my life heard of "mini serve" - and I have lived in 2 states where are all gas stations are considered full serve because you are not legally allowed to pump your own gas. Also, there will be no next time. I felt swindled.
I'm amazed that you are allowed to charge (an unadvertised price) for services you do not provide. This station should be shut down for dishonest business practices. read more
