I can attest that Lloyd is a real SOB cheater. I brought my Toyota Avalon here to get a free estimate. Llyod gave me a quote writing two crummy lines of figures for the repairs on the back of his name card( 2 and 1/4 inch x 2 inch) - I went there to get a decent estimate on a formal business letter instead). I accepted his offer of $1,150 for the repairs and get the work going leaving the car there at the workshop. He offered a rental car, but refused and called my wife to pick me up at the workshop. On the following day afternoon, I called him up expecting car would be ready bynthen, but he said that the mechanic was still working on and told me that he would call me when the car is ready. He also told me that there are two additional problems with a pair of rear struts that need to be replaced( He told me that they were old, but OK the day before when I brought the car over) which I found rather surprising. Anyway, he never called me on that afternoon. On the following day in the morning, I called him up, but his secretary picked up the phone: she told me that the repairs have been done and getting an inspection sticker and she will call me within 3O minutes. I waited for 30 minutes, but no call was made( February 7,2020 10:10 a.m.), so I called the office again: the secretary told me that she was about to call me back and asked me to come to pick up the car. When I entered the office, Llyod could not be seen. Instead, I found a bill laid on his table. The bill shows $300 more than the amount that we mutually agreed upon. I pointed out the discrepancy to the secretary, and asked where is Llyod. She told me that Lloyd is gone for next couple of days. I was pissed!! Lloyd lies and Lloyd cheats!!! He wants to rip off the people's hard earned money. Lloyd is type of a man who say something favorable to my ears and get the work going, but then later he revert what he promised and say something different. read more

Brought my car 8/21/2018. $6000.00 plus repair. Was what I paid through insurance. Finally after 21 days of rental car my car was ready . The front bumper was glued not clipped in. The Lower front grille behind the license Plate had black electrical tape hanging down. The oil pan was hanging down as well. I brought car back to Lloyd the following day. He put it up on lift and drilled in oil pan. But every thing I mentioned is coming unglued. Not a great experience to put it gently. read more

These guys are terrific. I've been there for various problems, and they do nice work and are always very accommodating. Yesterday, they replaced the clutch on our 2004 Subaru Forester (105K miles) for about $250 or so less than the dealership. And they gave me a loaner to use. My clutch is working great! This is a repair shop you can trust. Excellent work and very decent price. The shop manager is a wicked nice guy and takes the time to go over issues and solutions with you. The gas station onsite usually has high prices though. read more

My family has been using Cooks Automotive for about 10 years. Through all of our various car issues, oil changes or major repairs, they have been wonderful. They run a very professional and honest shop. it is nice to have a mechanic that shoots strait and doesn't 'upsell' every minor job. read more

Overall not happy and would not recommend, would give half a star if I could as they are good in a pinch if you are local, stuck and need help quickly. However I'd recommend finding a trustworthy auto place for your long term and maintenance needs. End of 2016 was told I needed to change my brakes asap as they would not last the winter. I was getting suspect about their suggestions by this point (was going to them about 3 years) and just decided to hold off until getting another opinion. Another honest and reliable auto place that I now use in another town just told me my brakes are fine and I have about another 5,000 miles on them, this is one year after what Cooks (or Crooks) told me. My new car guy also showed me how the crooks at Cooks didn't use a Toyota filter and how they crushed this cheap version it in to make it fit. They also explained how they did something else wrong and how it could have been a real problem but I can't recall the details of that as I was still fuming after seeing this crushed filter. Cooks had also replaced some expensive air filter that I then later found out didn't really need replacing and this was after I told them to please not do any work unless it was absolutely necessary to the functioning of the car. They didn't ask my permission they just replaced it, unfortunately I just paid like a good obedient customer, shame on me, true enough. My new auto guy calls me, tells me the price of something and asks my permission to move forward. I also twice had to ask Cooks to remove the charge added to my bill to fill my windshield washer fluid, as I had just filled it right before bringing my car in for an oil change. Only a few bucks, but still, that's a few bucks in their pocket and not mine. Why did I use them for a few years? I was very busy and kept putting off finding another place, they were convenient and that fact made me lazy. Buyer beware! If you need to use them then I suggest asking for proof of genuine parts and having them call you before they do work, get pricing. read more

I've used Lloyd's shop multiple times and he seems like such a good guy. He and his mechanics are fair, thorough, polite, and the prices are low too. I went in there once to get the light bulb changed on a headlight -- it had blown out 3x in a year. The mechanic told me that shouldn't keep happening. He found that a wire had gone bad, and fixed it inexpensively. Then he asked me if I had trouble seeing at night when I drove. When I said I'd been having that problem for years, to the point where I thought my bad eyesight had become truly terrible, the mechanic showed me that my headlights were really dirty inside, which can happen to older cars, and said that would make driving difficult. He cleaned out my headlights & suddenly I was fine driving at night again! Today, my car wouldn't start, and I insisted on being towed the 12 miles to Cooks. I'm really glad I did. Lloyd diagnosed the car immediately and had it fixed in 3 hours for $170 (new distributor cap and rotor). I've moved a few towns away but next time anything goes wrong I'll go back to Cooks again. read more

This is a great place run by honest, professional people where you know the person who is working on your car! I even got to see the parts they took off my car! So much better than my experiences at the car dealer, where my car disappears into the shop, and somehow I always need at least $600.00 of repairs even when I just go in for an oil change! read more

I've had brakes, oil changes, and minor repairs to my Toyota done here. I also do some service at the dealer. I always pay less than the dealer prices when I go here and get to see what the issue is. Some issues were harder to immediately diagnose (Toyota tried twice) and Lloyd came through. He is a straight shooter and treats his customers with respect. read more
