My beautiful girl
Shelly E.

My older child went to Shenker 5 years till he graduated a year ago and my 3 year old just started her third year. I'm so happy I chose this school for my little ones, I'm more than please from the education level of the school and the loving and caring for my kids. The Teachers, staff and principal are above and beyond great and I will highly recommend Shenker Academy to anyone that care for their kids and achievements. Thank you Shenker Academy

I have been eyeing this school for the last three years and sad to say that this school seems to discriminate against children with medical and religious exemptions. I was welcomed to do a tour since there are openings for summer to start this May. This is what they initially told me. They obtained all information until they asked for our updated vaccinations, once I stated having medical exemption legally within the state of Nevada, they completely changed their attitude, and told me they are fully booked for the summer and fall, and that they don't know when they'll call me when they're open again. I was told that I was given the wrong information in the beginning regarding the openings for summer and fall, and that they're completely booked. Since I shared my personal experience on Yelp, employees from this school went out of their way to release my private information to parents and volunteers from this school to speak wrongly about me online at the place where I work based on what I shared regarding the miscommunication and misinformation I experienced via phone in the mist of being put on hold multiple times, then later being disconnected. As I stated previously I have been eyeing this school because I heard nothing but the best in summerlin location. I am sure the owner of Shenker is accepting of receiving feedback regarding his staff, and does not stand behind the harassment and unprofessional conduct I received over the phone and online.

We started with Merryhill fall last year and my grandson has absolutely blossomed! The school takes a whole person view of each child and provides them with social and academic opportunities that invite the entire school and family to participate! It reminds me of the old days of education where the school saw itself as a partner to actually teach. I thought the trauma of his experience at his previous school may take a few grades to erase but in a short time Ms Zapanti saw what he needed the most which with love and patience. He feels safe now and I couldn't be more grateful for Merryhill!! Great job Mrs Y and staff for creating this environment!

My wife and I were really worried she might react the same way here -- but guess what, she's doing so much better at Merryhill! This school truly has empathy and warmth. Ms Gram and Ms Niemand are not just teachers -- they give real mothership. They make my daughter feel secure, trusting, and cared for. My daughter is a highly sensitive child (HSP) -- she feels anxious with too many strangers or changes around her, so it takes time for her to adapt. From day one, both teachers have been incredibly patient and loving. They treat every child equally, with the same care and responsibility. One day my daughter told me about a new boy who cried nonstop during his first week. Every time we came to pick her up, we'd see him closely attached to the teachers -- it was clear he felt safe with them. He literally follows Ms Gram wherever she goes, which says everything about how nurturing they are. Other things I love about this school: parents get monthly reports for their kids, there are regular teacher-parent meetings, and they offer a great variety of lunch options and events for kids to learn and explore. We're so grateful to have found a school that truly understands children and provides such a loving environment.

In terms of academics, we are overjoyed with how much hands on learning he is doing in his own classroom and the specialty classes. Most days he comes home with marker, paint, and glue on his uniform -- a sure sign of a great day. The curriculum challenges and interests him and he's encouraged to use his imagination. The ratio of teachers to students is wonderful. When he needs help a teacher is available to guide him. But what really makes this school special is the people. From the moment you walk in you are met with smiling faces, a friendly greeting, the feeling you and your kid belongs. You can see that the teachers and the administrators are happy to be there and that feeling extends to the kids. To see my son skipping in and out of school is magical. The school becomes part of your child's and your community. There are lots of special days and activities to get the kids excited to be a part of something. Our family has been with Merryhill, now, for two years beginning with Mrs. Bailey in PreK (such an amazing teacher), Mrs. Zellis in TK (a wonderful teacher who created a family environment in her class while still building academic skills needed for kindergarten), and now with the lovely and strong academic classroom environment that Mrs. Toranzo and her colleague Mrs. Jordan have created this year. In addition the STEM teacher, Mrs. Anderson, and the Spanish teacher are excellent. Finally, Ms. Kimberlee is so welcoming and so supportive of all the parents each day. It's a great place and I highly recommend it.

I can say without a doubt, that my wife and I believe Mountain View is the best private elementary school there is. It has that small town, small school feel, with advanced academics. The ratio of teacher to student is much lower than most schools. All the teachers and staff are amazing and engaged, and Mr. Schneider is an incredible principal. Everything they do just feels right and our little loves going to school everyday. They also have a multitude of festivals, choir events, clubs, and sports. It's amazing what they are able to provide with such a small campus. I can't say enough good things about Mountain View.

Class sizes are small and it is very much a community in that school. All the teachers know all the children and the children all know one another, regardless of grade. The religious foundation that my daughter received at Mountain View has helped to shape the person she is today, and I'm grateful for that. We love the ladies in the front office and my daughter was always crazy about Mr. Schneider, the principal. He takes the time to get to know each child. Every Monday he would ask Jenna if she had played softball over the weekend and how she did. In fact, he even surprised her when he showed up at one of her softball games. To say that it made her day is an understatement. While I don't think the education she received at Mountain View is better or worse than what she would have received anywhere else, the foundation she did receive shaped who she is. She is in a charter school today and is a National Junior Honor Society member, so clearly Mountain View did something right. I am glad my daughter attended Mountain View. Many of the teachers (current and former), teachers' aides and other staff still stay in touch via social media to see how Jenna is doing. Can't ask for better.

What I know for sure, is that he's eager to get up and out the door in the morning, and he always has a smile on his face when I pick him up at 3:15. That says it all. I know that he's safe, behind the guard gated, camera laden walls. He's fed well, with a kosher kitchen, hot meals, and fresh fruit available any time of the day. He is exposed to state-of-the-art technology in the incubator lab with 3-D printers, green screens, robotics, battle bot arena, computer lab, and more. The large indoor swimming pools are heated and utilized year round, starting as early as kindergarten in PE classes, and competitively starting in middle school. Other sports include tennis, soccer, basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, golf, baseball, wrestling, and cross country. (That's right, NO football!) The theater and music program is wonderful for kids that are interested in it, because there is less competition when it comes to getting parts, being that it is a smaller school. And now for education, he has homework almost every night which I think is great for reiterating what he's learned at school. He's a straight A&B student. I have access to all of his grades, homework assignments, and test scores through the Veracross website, so there are NO surprises at the end of the semester. Some of his absolute favorite teachers throughout the years have been Stacy Steele, Steven Paquin, Robin Oshins, Debby Levy, Jenn Nails, Christian Caramanica, and Liat Bodaker. I have heard people complain about the turnover rate, but it's because they do not give tenures at this school, which I believe helps keep the teachers on their toes, and allows the school to not hire them back if they are not a good fit.

In the beginning I thought it was my daughter's problem -- she just didn't want to leave me. But after talking with the headmaster, I suddenly realized: it wasn't my daughter's issue -- it was their teaching philosophy. 1. They believed my daughter couldn't control her emotions, and they expected her to -- but she's only three, her brain isn't developed for that yet. Expecting a three-year-old to "control her emotions" is like expecting a one-year-old to control her bladder -- it's a physiological development issue. And the headmaster should know that. 2. My daughter didn't know any English when we first enrolled her. Within four months she could understand all the teacher's instructions and even speak short sentences. Yet the headmaster still said she wasn't speaking "long sentences." As an early-childhood educator, she failed to recognize this progress in a child entering a completely foreign environment. 3.Once she cried so badly that the headmaster came over to comfort her, but my daughter refused to talk to the headmaster and threw herself into the arms of her teacher. The headmaster concluded that my daughter lacked the normal ability to communicate. But my daughter had only met the headmaster twice -- she was basically a stranger to her -- so when she was sobbing, she rejected the stranger and ran to the teacher she knew. To me, that is a completely normal reaction -- yet in the headmaster's eyes, it meant my daughter "couldn't communicate properly." 4.The headmaster claimed my daughter would cry loudly, scream, and stomp her feet in class. But from a very young age she never behaved that way; even in the first two months at Challenger she only cried quietly out of fear -- never screamed or stomped. Only after being moved to a different class and failing to adapt to the new teacher's methods did she show those intense reactions. She was using her own way to cry out for help -- yet the headmaster and teachers didn't see it. At home she also became moody and unreasonable. Because of what the headmaster said, we decided to withdraw her. We enrolled her in a new school, and I was worried she might not adapt -- new environment, new teachers, new friends. But after only a few scattered days of crying, she quickly grew to love school! In talks with her new teacher, I, as a parent, deeply felt the teacher's love for children, her understanding and acceptance. She treated my daughter like a child -- a real child. That's why my daughter was able to feel safe and confident so fast. Now she's been at the new school for three months, and every day she's very happy -- her English communication is no problem at all. This has only strengthened my conviction: my daughter was never the problem -- it was Challenger's teaching philosophy.

Opportunities for children two and under felt limited, and while we participated in classes at local recreation centers and libraries, it quickly became clear that he needed a more structured and developmentally appropriate program. The facility consistently maintains a high standard of cleanliness, including sanitizing between classes, which provides great peace of mind in preventing the spread of germs. I also appreciate how thoughtfully the programs are designed to accommodate different age groups, ensuring that younger children can learn and play safely without being overwhelmed by older participants. When it came time for my son to transition into a drop-off program, I naturally felt anxious. However, the management team provided reassurance and support throughout the process.
