one of the only establishments open on july fourth, but service wasn't too slow and we only waited 25 mins for food. we tried the: - wings with honey sriracha sauce: the wings themselves had a lot of meat but kind of bland and tough - patty melt: huge 8oz patty that filled us up - skinny boy's melt: generous with the meat as well, but a tad too salty - homemade banana ice cream with whipped cream ($3.80): not what we expected, it was definitely more of blended frozen bananas (sorbet texture)

We ate not just once but twice at shenanigans in Sewanee. The spot is right on campus. There are several students working and it has a super fun atmosphere. I'm still thinking about these cookie sandwiches with cream inside that they were selling. They were incredible the first night we had Cheesesteak sandwiches the second night. We had pizza and salad. This is a nice casual spot. We didn't wait too long for food and there was friendly service.

Needed a place to eat on a Sunday night before a Caverns show and not much in the area was open. We found Shenanigans which had a cute and cozy atmosphere but was way too freezing inside to be cozy. Everyone eating there had their coats on. We ordered at the counter which took a little while because there were only two girls working the counter and dining area. I ordered the veggie burger with sweet potato fries and husband the 8 oz. patty melt. Food arrived fresh and hot but husband's patty melt was definitely not 8 oz. Mine was good and I appreciated that they had gluten free buns. The sweet potato fries we ordered were labeled as shareable but I easily could have eaten them all myself. They were perfectly cooked, crispy waffle fries. There was a popcorn machine with a sign that it was free on it but it was empty.

Pizza took awhile to come out but was really good. All are Pick your toppings. It was a lovely evening on the patio. Staff is friendly.

The pizza was pretty good with an eclectic choice of topings. The fried pickles and dipping sauce didn't disappoint either. Beer on tap selection was delightful. The staff and servers were very nice and friendly, but it appears the place has a problem retaining them for some reason because the place had to close down due to lack of staff during the busiest time while a convention of cavers was in town with thousands of visitors. The other local restaurants were swamped. The decore is nice and appealing. There is seating indoors and outdoors. The indoors was shaded and dim. Music was low and one could easily have a conversation.

Great location, decent parking availability, love the outdoor seating options. Lots of menu options and yummy draft selections. Friend ordered the muffaletta and really liked the flavor just wished the cheese was more melty. I ordered the Italian sub and added turkey, the flavor was good but they forgot the cucumbers (no biggie). Even though they were not busy, our order sat at the bar top so long that the bottom half of my sandwich became soggy before they called out one of our order numbers to come get them. Overall seems like a cool place. My recommendation: come sit outside with a cold beer and enjoy the weather with friends. Go check on your order to make sure it isn't sitting there and hasn't been called out yet. They also get quite busy on the weekends in case you want to avoid large groups.

On my way from NYC to Texas and wanting to visit the Jack Daniels distillery, I stayed in the Monteagle (next town over). Given how late I arrived, this was one of the only places open, so I drove over to Sewanee. Even during the summer this place is a college hangout. I walked in and was immediately surrounded by students from the University of the South, which is nearby. Food and drinks seem dirt cheap. I ordered the shenanigans sub (10$) and some onion rings ($2.5; for some reason I got them half off). The onion rings were meh, but the sub was really good. Packed chockfull of meat. Only wish the sub was a little larger, but other than that great price to food ratio. would come again if I am ever in this area again.

A great college town eatery. The hamburgers and pizzas are excellent. Slow service, but it's worth the wait!

If you're in Sewanee, you go to Shenanigans. Good food, easy charm, good beer. The college spot on campus.

Because the last one did not go well either. Even accounting for the slower life we are pursuing in our retirement community of choice, we don't have one hour and four minutes to wait on a pizza. Or 54 minutes to wait on a simple spaghetti and meatballs. Or seven minutes standing at the front desk with no one coming by to see you at the "please wait to be seated" podium. I'm older now, I don't have that kind of time to waste. The food was "OK". The spaghetti and meatballs (substituted sausage, maybe this required a trip to Italy") was lukewarm. It tasted OK. My pizza was basically loose and drippy in the center. Not from cheese, from being poorly cooked. Again, there was nothing special about the taste. Lastly, I had to send the first pizza serving tray back to be cleaned. I don't know if it's too little staff, too little caring, too little organization, too little training. It all adds up to a memorable experience for the wrong reasons. It is a very nice place when it comes to decor and such. Even a nice big lighted Christmas display for folks to use as a photo backdrop. Hopefully the ownership will take this review to heart and not blame it on "being too busy" (that sure wasn't the case" or "fussy clientele". It sure wasn't that either.

The service was excellent, so let's start there. The interior is part of an older building that has been partially renovated. Clean and all the tables get covered with butcher paper and, when combined with crayons, offers fun for everyone. Finally we get to why people go to restaurants / the food. We started with the Calamari, which was perfectly fried, not greasy at all, and served with a tasty marinara, but we would prefer lemon. The white pizza was excellent also, we added some Italian sausage and that put the final touch on the pizza. The Greek salad was fair, but it didn't really roll our socks down, and the spaghetti with meatballs also fell a little short for us - the sauce had great tomato flavour, but it lacked the herbiness (we'd even have been ok with some spicy heat) that you'd expect from a good sauce. They have daily specials that could appeal to some, and they have a rather eclectic menu, right down to fish and chips. We don't go through S. Pittsburgh very often, but we might be back. They also have a location in Chattanooga.
