Rude employees. I won't give them my business because the employees are rude. The owner is nice but the employees are rude. Nadia was very rude, and kept laughing in my face and disrupting me in the middle of my sentences. Nadia told me to buy my car battery from Walmart if I can get it cheaper there. I asked to talk to the manager, then she laughed again and said "OH MY GOD". I then talked to the manager Darcy, and told her that Nadia kept laughing and interrupted me. Darcy the manager, then started doing the same thing Nadia did and interrupted me in the middle of my sentences. I told Darcy I"m not giving my money to a business when the manager and employees are rude. Darcy, the manager, then said to buy from Walmart and there is nothing to discuss if you're not buying a battery from us. Darcy then slammed the phone in my face. I then called back and talked to the owner, and he was a nice man, but he said he's been there 53 years. So it appears the employees and managers are taking advantage of the owner because of his age. This is a sad story. My fiancé and I stopped by this place to get batteries for his car last year. He has a 24 volt Land Cruiser. The batteries lasted him a year with an "apparent" 5 year warranty. First and foremost, we realized they never gave us a receipt the first time so it was already hard to prove our warranty. A nice woman was able to find his information and say that we're still in warranty! My fiancé goes back to Shelton and this rude employee states that my fiancé does NOT have a warranty. It took my fiancé and my mother in law to argue over the warranty to FINALLY get Robert to actually do his job and ACTUALLY check. After proving our warranty for the second time, Robert then stated that the only reason why my fiancé's batteries are going to be inspected and fixed is because Robert's manager told Robert to do so... isn't that superb?! My fiancé leaves his batteries on a weekend and is able to get them once the weekend ends! We aren't happy with our experience here and the lack of knowledge that lies with Robert, let's not forget to mention the poor customer service skills, too. Thankfully, the batteries were fixed and my fiancé's car was up and running... only after having to deal with such a mental headache! Word of advice: you actually have to argue with the employee here in order to get the service you actually deserve, so just be mentally prepared! read more

We paid 50-60$ for a battery when you go to use the warranty we were told they will give you a credit for the warranty of $15!!!! CREDIT! If I could give this business a -5 stars, I would! The staff at this store is absolutely atrocious! I called ahead to find out if they had a battery for my vehicle and was told they did, they quoted me a reasonable price, so I thought I had solved my issues. Upon arrival to the facility, the (manager Lisa) was extremely disrespectful and rude beyond imagination. She tried to tell me that I did not call ahead and I must be lying because those aren't the prices they quote the product that I needed was four times the amount that I was told on the phone and on top of that, she told me that there is an extra $15 installation charge. But a few minutes prior when I was speaking to the gentleman who works there he said the installation charges are only five dollars when I asked her about it she got upset at me. She threw her pen down on the table towards me. she said, I was raising my voice, and if I didn't like it, I could go elsewhere. I calmly explained to her. I couldn't go elsewhere because there wasn't a battery in my vehicle anymore. It was already taken out by your staff. and you are the only one in town who has the battery I need she laughed at me mockingly saying " that's what you get" not believe the audacity of this woman to insult me like it was nothing. After everything was said and done I asked her if I could have two copies of the receipt, and she yelled at me again saying " oh my God do you have to be this difficult " I told her it's for work, and this is what I have to , I also told her I hope she had a better day, and she proceeded to scream at me telling me that she will call my employer and tell them about my behavior. I didn't reply back because she was obviously on the verge of having an aneurysm from the looks of it, but as I was walking out, I made eye contact with the gentleman who replaced my battery, and asked him is she always like this? with a smirk on his face, he he said under his breath yes, absolutely, she is the worst person in the world and we all hate working for her, but it pays the bills. I felt so bad for that staff member because he was very nice. I believe his name was Stephen, outside of the doors, staff was laughing at her mockingly because of her behavior and I was told that I am not the only one who she treats like this. Once I got back to my place of employment. I was informed that they received a phone call about me from this woman named (Lisa) without a worry in the world because I knew I didn't do anything wrong. The true hallmark of a small business serving the local community during this covid new norm era., i had to tell the owner this place is a gold mine, The technition swapped out my dead battery and installed my new reconditioned battery, I mentioned I drive for Uber 24/7 he was straight honest informing me to expect this battery to last up to a year if that according to my driving habits, I was fine with that, you can't beat the $52 for what I paid for at Shelton, in total with a 90 day warranty, Now my Engine fires up fast and without spending $200 at autozone or $300 at the Hyundai Dealership for the very same recycled reconditioned car batteries, only difference the big companies market them as new to justify those price points, I left my carbon foot print on a budget while supporting a small business, it's a win read more

Came in to get my battery checked my car died in the morning , pulled up had a gentlemen's already sitting out front , instantly got up checked my battery, quickly found the problem! Unfortunately they didn't have any used to battery but was able to find a new one that should've cost me 130 - ended up only paying 50! The people here are so nice and wonderful! Especially Robert and the girls in the office. I went in for a battery but fate held different cards for me and turns out, the acid went into my fuse box and broke the connector! Robert spoke to my parents about what was going on amd what I would have to do. I spent 3 hours in their office waiting for a tow truck and they never once made me feel like I wasnt welcomed even though I'm sure having a stranger in there was more than a little uncomfortable! I bought a new battery from Shelton Battery in July and now recently have been experiencing problems with my car randomly shutting off. When I tested the battery it turned out to be a bad battery. When I called Shelton Battery to see if I could get my money back the lady I was talking to was super rude and condescending. Cutting me off in between questions and talking to me like I was wasting her time. Maybe she was having a bad day; who knows. Still, I bought a new battery that only lasted 5 months and receive horrible customer service, so I'll never go here again. It's a trust thing, and I do not trust Shelton Battery. read more

I fully expected to give this company a one star rating. Then the MOST UNUSUAL thing happened, they put the customer first and did the right thing. I thought that I was transported back 25 years when companies valued their customers. Here's my story. It started first thing this morning when I took my 2 year old battery in for replacement. The Shelton Battery technician checked my battery and determined that it was the alternator not the battery even though the battery was leaking. He advised me to have the alternator replaced and then come back and replace the battery. I asked him why not just replace the battery now so I wouldn't have to come back. He told me that it would burden the new battery and shorten it's life. That sounded feasible so I left and went to a mechanic to replace the alternator. The cost, $420.00. WOW!!! I wasn't ready for that however I left my vehicle with the promise that he would do a through test and if it wasn't the alternator he would fix it and the cost would be less. Also there was a very rancid smell coming from, we thought, the inside of the vehicle however upon inspection we couldn't find anything that would emit that smell. He said that it would be about 2 1/2 hours. I took an Über home waiting for the call. About 45 minutes later I get a call that it was not the alternator and the rancid smell was the battery literally exploding when they removed it. The battery acid just let go. Also that the total cost would be $240.42 not $420.00. I go pick up my car and now I'm angry with Shelton Battery Company. I called them and spoke with the owner describing everything that I have just shared with you all. Instead of telling me to get lost, he said to please bring the battery back so we could see what to do. I took the battery back and the owner inspected it and determined that it was a bad battery. Did you get that, THE OWNER ACTUALLY TOOK RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE BATTERY. Since he couldn't replace the battery because the other garage already did, he did the unbelievable, he asked me to show him the receipt for the repairs and asked me if I thought it would be fair if he wrote me a check for half of the bill. I almost passed out. I had no idea reputable businesses still existed. They do and one of them is named SHELTON BATTERY!!! Shelton Battery, the employees, and the owners are 100% ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Rude staff who try to upsell you. I went looking for a bank 6v/8v batteries for a solar application. The morbidly obese staff member ranted on about how batteries work and that I wasn't charging my current batteries correctly even though he had no understanding of how a 4 stage solar charge controller works. But he "knows" everything even though I'm an electrical engineer, MSEE, with 17+ years experience and this moron tries to explain how batteries work while trying to upsell me on a new expensive Trojans when I made it clear I wanted used recycled batteries to optimize cost and Ah. He then said he had 2 used batteries but wouldn't sell them to me but only to "good" customers who buy often or in bulk. They also charge a $25 core fee if you don't have a used battery to replace the one you buy. Most places only charge $12.50... Also you can get the same 6v batteries at OReilly's Auto Parts for less money $120 vs $100 without the hassel or expensive core fee. read more

My sister needed a battery and Auto Zone told her it was going to be around $200. I decided to do a little research and found this place that gave her a battery with a 3-year warranty for about $70. Two years later, that battery died and they replaced it at no charge. Came into have a battery replaced on the wife's car. The mechanic Robert was great with the install and customer service. The whole process of putting in a new battery was about 25 mins. The price and install of a nrw battery was $120. If you would like a refurbished battery it was $54. I would suggest this place for all car battery needs. Disappointed! I have been buying batteries from these guys for quite a few years. Always good service and fair prices. I have referred this place to all my family and friends, but have just had a bad experience, and will not be doing any more business with this company. I bought a motorcycle battery from them February of last year, as mine was starting to go bad. It remained on my shelf until a week or so ago. Approx. 10 months. I finally installed it to find out it was dead. I tried to charge it, but it wouldn't take a charge. I returned it, and was told It was my fault, and I ruined it. I did not know, or was not told you must keep a new battery charged. They should put a red sticker on the box letting people know, or put a note on the invoice, and a quick verbal reminder as you walk out of the store. I was told they would give me 15.00 dollars towards a new battery. I would have kept this battery charged, if I was told it would be ruined, if I didn't charge it. I think its bad business to not inform customers of a possible warranty issue. I will not be doing business with them anymore. They used to carry reconditioned batteries for good prices but now every time I go there they never have side mounted reconditioned batteries and I have to buy a new one. On August 13, 2015 I contacted your firm because the "quicky step" on my R/V was not working and I was about to leave for a trip. At about 3:30 pm Kevin showed up and in less than fifteen minutes was able to determine that the problem was my two main batteries were bad/dead. Kevin called what he described as his wholesale supplier and then informed me that the batteries would cost me $200.00 plus tax each. I said that seemed very high but he said that was the price and he was concerned that the wholesale supplier was closing so he needed to go immediately if he was going to get the batteries; since we were leaving the next day I said OK. I had to leave to pick up my wife who no longer drives and is on dialysis so by the time I got back, Kevin had already installed the two batteries. I asked what brand they were, he did not know, I asked what the warranty was, he did not know but said he "thought it was one year". I asked for a warranty and he said it was one year from the date of the install. I asked what the date was on the battery and he said he thought it was April of 2015 which meant the batteries were already almost three and a half months old sitting on a shelf. After a bit of investigation, I was able to determine that the retail on these batteries (brand name Power Perfection) is $120.00 each and the discounted cost from Shelton Batteries (which is where I believe they were purchased) would have been in the neighborhood of approximately $97.00 each. You are undoubtedly entitled to sell the batteries at the retail price of $120.00 each but it is outrageous for your firm to say it sells at a discount on your web site and then mark up prices over 100%. Incidentally, please note I have no argument with the $210.00 service call. read more
