What you see is what you get and you get a great time :) We stopped in Afton on the way to Jackson on a road trip and hung out at the cowboy bar for a bit. Drinks are super reasonably priced and the bartender we had was so much fun. The conversation definitely had us staying there longer! Not fancy, very authentic. If we ever find ourselves in Afton again we will definitely be back.

A solid combo.

A thoroughly enjoyable evening and dinner…read more Possibly the best ribeye I've had in the past 10 years, but the other "foam and powder"aspects of the dish were just silly. The so called General Tso steak sauce was like a thimbleful smear and completely irrelevant. BBQ Ramen seasoning? Not even enough to get a taste profile of it. The trout with a green curry sauce was good but again, ummmm.... Trout has a subtle flavor. Green curry coconut sauce, and stuffed with another type of Asian something something....might as just as well better to use a neutral tasting fish like a better quality tilapia imho. Let trout taste like trout. Use a different, neutral tasting fish for these kinds of sauces and fillings. Well at least it wasn't covered with a garnish of micro greens lol. Just a little cilantro heh heh heh. I mean don't get me wrong. Both entrees were okay. But a waste of quality fish when a less costly fish would have been fine what with all those other flavors. And the foam and powder embellishments on the steak were barely noticeable. The whole menu reads like a community college cooking school graduate little bit of this little bit of that. When I get home I'm going to have fun writing the different components of all the menu items on index cards, shuffle, and see what combinations come up each time. And I love the idea of a General Tso steak sauce and want to try creating one. And using a packet of Ramen seasoning instead of Cajun seasoning sounds like a fun thing to try. I just won't do it on a fifty dollar piece of meat. If you are counting calories you skip the gross doughnut hole dessert. Dense ball of dough. Gummy. Like they used a cake doughnut recipe instead of a yeast doughnut or beignet recipe. But if not counting calories , go for it. It's fun to try the sauces, even if not that great a doughnut. Great, festive, lively ambiance . Super friendly staff and service.

With so many strong restaurants in Jackson, this one didn't stand out as one we would revisit…read more Our server was lovely--friendly, attentive, and clearly doing their best. Unfortunately, the bar was painfully slow. Our first round of drinks took about 15 minutes, and the second took closer to 30 minutes after ordering. We eventually had to check in to make sure they were even coming. The food was fine, but not something we'd come back for. The elk pasta lacked the depth and richness you expect from a bolognese. The trout--poblano stuffed and curry-prepared--was an interesting idea, but the curry completely overpowered the fish, making the dish feel unbalanced. We had curry-dusted trout at The Blue Lion earlier in the week that was far better. (One of the best trout meals I've ever had.)

Cowboy Bar - The worst bar in America lol!

Came here last night and I enjoyed the hell out of myself and spent very little money!…read more Great bar with amazing service. The mix of music was great as well as the bartender/owner. She kept the drinks coming and the whole place was immaculate! Pinedale is an awesome little town and I will definitely be back and when I come back I will definitely stop by the Cowboy. Highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a cold beer in a nice place with nice people.

Once we ordered, she poured us two ranch waters (tequila, soda water, and lime). She instead gave us no lime. When we asked for a lime, she flat out looked at us and walked away. I asked her, do we have an issue? And she said verbatim, "I hate tourists." Again, we did NOTHING to prevoke this woman. We are on a girls trip and wanted a drink. We paid, and walked out. We then left a 5 dollar bill on the counter, and told her it was for "tourist troubles" she then said "I don't want your f-ing money. We left it there, and said "have a better day!" Then walked out. Upset at the service is an understatement. This town DOES NOT LIKE TOURISM, and if you are traveling on a roadtrip, stay out of this place. Very exclusive local vibes. They smoke inside as well, and the bartender was definitely drunk! I think her name was Lila (from past bad reviews) The service here was terrible. The bartender acted rude the second we sat down.
