Walking in can be a little intimidating because there's not a host desk right upon entering, but everyone that walked in was immediately greeted and guided to a table. My server was the sweetest and gave great suggestions. I ordered fluffy buttermilk pancakes, which had powdered sugar and butter on the side. I also ordered cheesy eggs and homestyle potatoes. My friend and i just wrapped up our weekend trip and were looking for a close by place to eat. To our surprise, Shellys was right down the road. As soon as we entered, the kind workers greeted us and we immediately were seated. We chose what we wanted to eat, as seen in the photos below, and our waitress brought it out in about five minutes. My food was delicious, however, my friend requested no bananas and it came with them. Also, she had commented her eggs did not taste right. This is our first time at Shellys café. The waitress was very attentive. Our waitress was very attentive. I ordered the pancakes with strawberry banana and blueberry on it even though that was not a menu item. My husband ordered the eggs, bacon, toast, and grits combo and he devoured it! Perfect breakfast place if you are in the area. We learned they have been open for about 4 years now. The owners fathers helps run the place and both servers there this morning did an amazing job! The food was on point too. Best home fries around! The pancakes, omelettes and BLT were delicious! The fruit plate side is worth the $1 up charge and comes with a side of caramel sauce. I got shelly's french toast combo with sausage and home fries while my partner got the chicken and pancakes plus a side of beignets. I don't know how they do it, but every piece of fruit tasted so fresh and delicious, the bananas especially were the perfect ripeness and almost had a creamy texture. The toast itself was fluffy and not too sweet. The hashbrowns and sausage were also great too, I like the way they cook them where there's a very light crisp on the outside but a super rich inside. The beignets were really satisfying, also not too sweet and nice and warm, if you like funnel cake you're guaranteed to love these. This place doesn't have a gluten gluten free menu, however the waitress submitted my toast for tomato slices. It worked for me. The food was pretty good. Pretty basic omelette. I can't believe I never knew about this place! I was nervous to go during lunch time on a Sunday since it is usually a busy time for brunch but we were able to get right in and receive our food quickly. The sandwich pancake was honestly the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. I literally can't stop thinking about it. We met up with a friend for brunch before heading back to Jax from a wedding. We went inside and since the vaccine was in its infancy we decided to eat outside. The strawberry lemonade taste like heaven in a mason jar. The fresh berries and the tartness of the lemonade made everything taste just a little bit better. So nice to stumble across this charming cafe not far from my husband's workplace. We arrived shortly after 10am for brunch. Shelly's Cafe did not disappoint. I had the Ranch Chicken Club sandwich with home fries. My husband opted for the Tampa Omelette with home fries and wheat toast. The cafe was super clean, adorable and comfortable. The staff was friendly and efficient. They are open for breakfast and lunch and Closed on Tuesdays. I believe this may be one of my husband's new "go to" lunch spots during the work week. We would definitely recommend eating here only if you like excellent, delicious food, superb service, all in a wonderful atmosphere. Although the buttermilk pancakes were delicious the show stealer were the home fries that were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. No ketchup, salt or pepper is needed just a fork or fingers. A nap was needed afterwards because it was like a home cooked meal. The wait staff were efficient and for me that makes or breaks a dining experience. I am always on the search for breakfast and brunch spots. I've had only a little success. Then I found Shelly's Cafe. We got there around 10:30am and it was packed! We decided to eat outside with a gorgeous view of the strip mall parking lot. No matter. We were quickly greeted by our waiter Gio, who turned out to be amazing. Very friendly and he kept our drinks full in the Florida heat. I decided to try the Shelly's French Toast, eggs and bacon. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was done with the perfect amount of crispness! The French Toast was something to behold. Covered in fruit and dusted with powdered sugar, this was the best I've ever had. Added a touch of maple syrup and I was a happy man! Afterwards the owner asked how the meal was...we told him it was fantastic, he bowed and walked away...and just like that our perfect meal was over. Highly recommend this place. Don't sleep on it.
