If I could give 0 stars I would. I stopped to get gas and figured I would just get a car wash as well. After entering the wash stopped twice and the track was no longer moving. The attendant walked by throwing his arms up as I'm trying to understand if I need to drive out or what to do. Finally the track began to move again and skipped half rinse cycle and I was left with soap all over my car. I went inside and asked for a refund as I was left with soap all over my car. The attendants both acting extremely irritated said no they would credit a wash. I nicely stated I was not comfortable going through again as twice the track stopped and I don't want to risk damage to my car. I would like to get in contact with upper management as the staff working were unpleasant and unhelpful. read more

This is my local shell gas station It's pretty popular in normally has about a block-and-a-half of people in their cars waiting to pump this gas it's about maybe a penny or two different from the mobile and Marathon that's up the block I don't know what special about it maybe they have those special cards they give you a couple of cents off the gallon but never had any issues there and they normally have the gas station pumps and service that's all I care about read more

Beware the car wash. Non responsive owner I took my new car through the car wash at the Grove Mart in East. Dundee on July 19th. I notified the clerk, and was told to come back when the manager would be in... At 6:30 AM on Wednesday. I showed up, and was told to come back at 11 AM on Friday.. the Owner Jeff would be available. I came back, and no Jeff. I asked for his number, and was refused. I left my contact info, no call. I finally talked to a manager Jack who once again took my info, and said I'd get a call. No response. The car wash damaged my bumper, front right fender, front right door, the frame rails on the right side, and a small section of the left side of my car. I had an estimate today, and it's about $2k in damage. My insurance company will pursue them at this point, and I'll pay my deductible in the meantime. I'd avoid this place entirely. At the very least the owner could have contacted me. Stay away. read more

These people are horrible! The car wash deal is a scam. It says $3, but in reality they charge you $10, and when questioned tell you it's your fault because you didn't follow the prompts properly! They have to cheat to make money! Or is this Shell policy? Common, who would charge $10 for a car wash? There's too many places who give a good wash for less. AVOID them at all costs. read more

Gas prices are hiked up compared to normal and the employees do not wear a mask, which is a big issue for me.

Horrible horrible service... expired overpriced snacks . $3 for a candy bar?! What ?! Wow... bathroom never works, the employees are talking on their cell phones while ringing you up !! No mask, no sanitizer, no receipt, no manners... gas pump will steal your money , the car wash will scratch your whole car up, I'm dead serious!!! This place is a joke. I passed 2 gas stations that were selling diesel at $4.89 and stopped at this Shell who had it posted on their sign for $4.89/gallon. While I was pumping the gas, the cost on the pump changed to $5.29/gallon. When I asked the manager to reimburse me the difference he said he couldn't. He said he didn't care that I could go someplace else or that I would never come back. I usually never go to Shell and this experience may turn me off of this company permanently. read more

The gas was probably adequate, I'm no car so I can't be sure. However, I paid $10 for a car wash that didn't even wash the front or back of my car. It was dry to the touch! Pratip, the employee, said the wash doesn't wash the front or back of ANY car. I asked why there wasn't a disclaimer stating, and he offered me a second wash (that had to be used immediately). The second wash did no better. He offered me nothing until I stated I felt cheated. Limo driver in the lot said this happens a lot. Disgusting customer service. My pops and I pulled into this Shell because our car needed gas and a wash (we saw several huge 4 foot diameter circular signs saying basic car wash $1.99). I pump my gas and press the basic car wash option. Upon receiving my receipt it states that the basic car wash was $6. I complained nicely to the I presume manager/owner (Indian) behind the counter about the price and he gave me an extremely hard time, stating that the $1.99 car wash doesn't work so I must buy another car wash option. BS. I asked for a refund and he would not want to refund it until finally the customers behind me were getting perturbed about the wait. The huge basic car wash $1.99 signage are posted throughout the premises to lure cars in. I'm sure this station has been ripping people off hundreds if not thousands of customers for quite some time with their false advertising. First, the customer service was horrible. The cashier, and probably owner, was disrespectful and completely useless. He also lied to me, stating that the bathroom was "out of order" simply because he didn't want people to use it. Additionally, it seems that they use dirt to "wash" your car. My car looked cleaner before it went in the "car wash" than it did after! Huge rip off. Bottom Line: Even if you have to push your car to the next closest gas station, it will be better than going to this place. What a disgrace. read more

Don't pay for a car wash... I paid $15 for the premium wash but when I finally was in the area on a rain-free day yesterday the store wouldn't accept the code. They claimed that the code had expired 3 days ago! This wasn't a free wash coupon or promotion. This was a wash that I paid ($15!!) for last month and the store simply kept my $$ without providing service. To compound the problem he staff behind the counter were very rude when I asked them to update the code. This is not only terrible customer service, it may also be illegal! I've been getting gas and car washes here for several years when I'm in the area. The gas station has recently gone through an extensive remodeling and is very clean and fresh looking. I appreciate the coolers being kept at a temperature so my soft drink is actually refreshing. The car wash was upgraded with new equipment and does a much better job than before. read more

We came in here for a car wash on a nice day and left with water droplets all over the car. I guess the dryer doesn't work that well. I haven't checked for scratches yet, but it seems that another reviewer experienced scratches on a new car. Hmm...Maybe I'll stay away from this place from now on. read more

This gas station is terrible. The prices are always hiked up and the customer service at this establishment is absolutely horrible. One time I was here and prepaid at the register, went outside to pump the gas I had prepaid for, waited TWO MINUTES for the cashier to put the gas I had already paid for on the pump, and had to go back inside the store to ask him to put the gas on my pump. It was not a manner of having told him the wrong pump number - I knew which pump I was at. He was too busy talking to his coworker (keep in mind the store was empty at this point besides maybe a few people browsing, no one at the register). When I asked him (politely, despite having to go back inside for this lazy mfer) he gave me a nasty look like I had inconvenienced him by interrupting whatever he was talking to his coworker about. I have never had to do this, let alone been treated like I was annoying someone because I asked them to do their job properly. I've been back since then, but the fact is that the people they have working here always treat you like you're an inconvenience by asking them to do their jobs, and are generally just rude. I will not be coming back here again, and I await the opening of the Speedway down the street with an open mind. I work in the business park behind the gas station, and they would have had plenty more business from me if their customer service wasn't terrible every time. read more

I typically visit the Grove Mart Shell station in 2320 N. Randall Road Elgin, IL on my way home at night to purchase their hot coffee. I normally use two 20oz cups because the coffee is extremely hot to handle with one cup. The employee who would usually ring my coffee was absolutely okay with it. However, a younger employee today questioned me. He asked me what size coffee do I have and told him it was a 20oz. He then asked me "Are you sure?" I responded with a yes. Then he proceeded to tell me that customers from the past had placed a 24oz cup into a 20oz. What made him think that I was that type of a person? So, I took out the incredibly hot cup of coffee from the second cup I used because he would not quit speaking of the past and I showed him that it was in fact the same 20oz cup. Next, he asked me why I used two cups. I told him that it is extremely hot. Then he said, "It's not that hot. One cup is good enough." Excuse me? Does he want to hold a hot cup of coffee straight from the machine himself while driving? Then he asked me the most racial question ever and said "Do you work at that nail salon next door?" First of all, it's 12:37am. Second, just because I am of Asian decent does not mean that I work as a nail technician. And third, I do not reside in the area so why should I travel an hour and a half to work at a nail salon. He is the most eminently judicious individual I have ever encountered. To make it even more awkward, I handed him the merchant receipt I signed my name in and he took it while holding onto my copy of the receipt simultaneously with same hand. He was quite inefficient and did not know when or how to give me that copy. So I looked at him to figure out what was taking him long and seconds later he just dropped it on top of the counter for me to reach over and pick up. The employee literally judged me by my ethnical background, accused me of sneaking a 24oz cup into an even smaller 20oz cup, and assumed that I can manage holding a cup of scolding hot coffee in a foam cup thinner than a generic foam cup that can be purchased from a grocery store. This is unacceptable, especially since it is required for him to communicate with the customers. Being discriminative in a racial, age, and gender context towards a customer, and creating accusations without evidence is unprofessional and unethical. It was definitely uncalled for of him. That employee must be retrained. read more

We utilize this location for our dealership ( high end cars). The staff is well trained, the place is meticulous (including the bathrooms!) and the car wash not only utilizes state of the art equipment- it is the most effective location for safely cleaning our cars. From someone that has been in the car business for over 20 years- the photos showing a scratched vehicle are NOT the result of this car wash or any car wash- rather someone seeking to defraud insurance(felony charge) or cheat a businessman who is running one of the best businesses in the area.
