The woman behind the desk refused to answer any questions whatsoever unless I provided either a photo of the boat, or the owner's name. I provided her with the name of the owner's son, who I had been dealing with, but she didn't recognize it. I had trouble getting cell service, and so was unable to download a photo. So, she refused to answer any questions whatsoever about the marina. And that was that. The lesson is that while in these COVID times every merchant is bending over backwards to generate revenue, here's one exception. If you happen to be craving some good old fashioned Soviet style disdain, Sunset Marina is the place you can find it!

I was to bring my car in Wednesday as early as possible. So after giving them two days notice, they didn't have the tires on hand, and after paying $170 for a "inspection" was told that I needed an alignment, and new tires, and a back tire only had 5 psi... Strangely they assumed that I would leave my car in the parking lot until the next morning. (unlocked, as I discovered) but needing transportation, I left. After driving a few minutes, I checked my tire pressure and found it still had 5 psi. So I called them and asked if they put air in the tire and the response was no because we thought you were going to replace them. (but they didn't have them, even though they had two days notice to get at least two)... returned the next morning. I asked the owner as he arrived to work Thursday morning if it was reasonable to be without transportation for 30+ hours for a couple of tires and a wheel alignment? He replied that it wasn't uncommon! I don't think that is a reasonable standard for any shop! Nothing but misleading communication and lies from these guys. Paid $1000 to DIAGNOSE a misfire, which should be a couple hours of work tops. They bill extra hours and don't do the work that they say they will. Wanted to charge an extra 1.5 hours of labor to put my car back together on top of the 8 hours of labor they billed for a simple diagnosis. That simple diagnosis got completed at another shop in 3 hours and i didn't have to wait around for 2 weeks before they touched my car. They also yanked fuses from my car for no reason and left them hidden in the interior (a sick joke for the less mechanically inclined!?) No response from them when i asked why they even opened my fuse box. A shame to the squamish community that we have shady shops like this in operation. Save yourself the headache, keep some cash in your pockets and get your car running quicker by bringing it ANYWHERE other then Newport Auto

I drove my low-based car through a big rock on the Sechelt highway (it was in the middle of the lane, couldn't avoid it in time), and pieces of the engine cover came loose -- we ripped off a couple pieces on the road, but I wanted to get it checked to make sure nothing major was amiss. The lady told me they didn't have any available appointments (I got there around 12:30 and they close at 2pm) but asked Trevor to take a quick test drive for me. He did that, but he also went ahead to lift my car, remove leftover pieces, and advise me that a replacement cover is not necessary. And after those 10-15 minutes of work, they didn't even charge me!

I went to swap summer tires a few days later and took these photos of the front brakes. Seized caliper slide pins, inner pads worn to the backing plate. The manager refused to take responsibility and claimed that this wear happened within a few hundred kilometres of their inspection. I understand mistakes are made, but was really disappointed that the manager would deny, deflect and gaslight rather than simply apologize. Maybe he would be better suited to the used car department...

The two ladies inside were very helpful and said Kenmac was probably our best option. We drove there, went inside, and explained our situation. I believe his name was Drew or Devin but he was quick to help us by loaning us some tools. He couldn't help too much as they it was lunch time and they were short staffed. A bystander, Kevin, was there having his truck worked on help us a lot and we were able to stabilize the awning and continue on our vacation. Without Kenmac's and Kevin's help we would have been up the proverbial creek without a paddle.
