    Pork egg roll.
    Amanda P.

The reviews were great and I was staying nearby in an Airbnb so I figured I'd stop in and perhaps they were having a bad day but the food was not as good as it was when it was Alley Tacos. Pork egg roll... the pork had no seasoning and was nearly mush like it had been over worked in the shredding, also the egg roll wrapper wasn't quite cooked it was really stretchy and starchy. The service definitely did not come with a smile. The guy kept his sunglasses on the whole time and didn't smile once. You talked in such a low voice I could barely even hear him. Like he would rather be anywhere else or like he was high. The wait time for the food was reasonable. They were not busy at all. The prices are quite high. I got a combo with two Birria tacos, some elote and some elote wings or something. Skin on the wings was rubbery and there was too much cumin or something. All I could taste. Overpowered the mayo even. For that combo and the egg roll it was $32. I didn't even eat half of it. It was all really One Note. No real flavor or texture. Even the limes that came in the box had no juice in them. Made me sad because by the eye it looked great.

Small smacho and 1 Pollo taco

I only placed a Togo order so I did not experience sitting inside the restaurant eating. So I ordered the small smacho that were $12 and it was loaded with flavors and I believe they make their own chips or at least sprinkle their own seasoning on them (reminded me on Doritos) they use Mexican cheese and crema which was even better! I could not finish half of that by myself so even a small was pretty big. I also ordered 1 Pollo taco that $6 . Yes $6 for 1 taco but it's not your average size taco! It's big and loaded up so I say it's worth that amount. Their menu is pretty small but it's straight to the point. -tacos- -nachos- - elote-

Tried this out after meeting some friends at the bar. After midnight its hard to find some good food nearby and this place did not disappoint! The dining room was closed but we devoured it all in our car. The inside is pretty cool and like the turtle theme everywhere. The guys inside were really nice and was able to complete our order for 4 within about 10 minutes. The pollo birra and egg roll was amazing! Will definitely be back when I am in the area.

I've been a fan of Shell Shock'd since they were doing pop ups at locations around the city. To have them in their own brick and mortar location is the cherry on top! The food here is AMAZING! My go to order is three Birria tacos with an order of Elote. The staff is so warm and welcoming as soon as you enter the restaurant. It's been a while since I've been over there so they may have the dine-in option open now which will further enhance their experience.

I have seen this place on Instagram and I was so happy I could finally give it a try. I was not disappointed at all . The place is a takeout only place but they said they will be opening a dining area soon. The menu is small and simple but everything on it was so delicious . I ordered a Birria taco with the elote chicken wings and everything was sooo delicious. The chicken wings were crispy and it was served with elote corn pieces. I do wish the elote flavor was a bit stronger on than the chicken, but everything was still delicious. The birria was full of meat and the consumme was everything. I did take a bite of the loaded fries which was also soo good I almost took them from my bestfriend lol. And the crunch wrap is unforgettable . I can't wait until they open up the seating area and for whatever they have in store next food wise 10/10 Definitely Recommend

Space: Carry out order counter with enough room for maybe 2-3 parties to wait in line while the dining room is under construction. We put in our order and walked around Cass Corridor until we got the text it was ready for pickup. You can bring outside food in the bar next door, so we got drinks and ate in there. Staff: Very friendly and helpful! Food: Delicious! We ordered the elote, which came as about half a dozen inch-think pieces of corn; regular and pollo tacos; and my friend got the Krunch Wrap. I preferred the pollo/chicken over the birria taco. The best part for me was finding out everything but the Krunch Wrap was gluten free! I'd never been able to try birria tacos before due to this limitation, so I was very excited!

The beef crunch wrap. Best thing I tasted

A few things were kind of MID to me with this place however I did not try everything. The service was the first! We went in and I understand it's a new place so it's not set up all the way. The guy was nice but unwilling to remove a sauce from a dish that my partner was not too fond of. Which in turn I had to convince him to give it a try because it wasn't mayo based. The man told us he would do it now cause we aren't busy but it isn't guaranteed for the next time( who said we would return) anyway. We got the chicken birria tacos $6 a piece and they were small small, we got the crunch wrap. Both came with what they call Queso cheese but to be honest we felt like the cheese had been sitting. Now on to the food. The crunch wrap which I didn't order but was my partners was outstanding. Nothing at all was wrong. But those tacos weren't at all what we liked. Minimum cheese chicken was dry. And like I said that Queso definitely had been sitting for some time because it was cold and you could see the separation from the pico that they put on top. I'd love to Go back and get some items that they advertise but did not have on the menu. Overall I'd give them a 5.6 out of 10 for now. Hopefully when I return these thing will be fixed and much better. I love to support black business especially in Detroit.

Shell Shock's has some of the best tacos in the city! I'm always greeted with a smile when I come in and even if there is a line, addressed as I wait. This was my third visit and first time ordering the Smacho and was not disappointed. I've had the birria tacos previously and they were excellent as well. There is no space to dine in but we're informed that the bar right next door allowed patrons to bring the food in to dine so no big deal. Definitely recommend!

I first discovered them at a pop up shop. They now have a location. The food that I've tried is outstanding! In this order I have the birria tacos. They are sold individually or in sets of three. The set of three was $18. A little pricey for three small tacos. The flavor however was outstanding. I also had the elote wings. This is an order of seven wing dings flavored up elote style. It did come with two small corn pieces. This dish also was $18, also pricey , flavors just through the roof. Not shown in photos we got Elote, Mexican style street corn. I believe it was $12. Overall the flavors and service were amazing. Reminded me of being back in the southwest near Mexican border. The prices would be my only very small issue. This isn't Taco Bell though so ‍

Late night food was great, closing time was different online than it was at the location. It was fine though, the cook still helped us out.

Lots of tender chunks of flavorful beef swimming in a delicious broth with potato, carrots, onion and some kind of squash. It comes with rice and beans. I sometimes add that to my soup as well. Instead of crackers I use tortilla chips. The chicken soup is equally as good. I don't know why more Mexican restaurants don't offer this option. Mexican soup is much different than gringo soup. I cut everything up into tiny pieces. Mexican soup is entire carrots, a potato cut in half, half an onion. That said it totally works. I highly recommend the soup at Lupita's.

Heads up; it's cash only (atm with $3 fee in the building) and 1 bill per table. I ordered 5 quesadillas to sample the different meats. I'll go from best to worst. The cabeza was rich, but not too overpowering which I've experienced before. No fat either which was great. The asada had a nice flavor and was perfectly tender. The pollo was equally flavorful and tender. All 3 get an A grade. The carnitas was pretty good, but not as tender as the others. Solid B. Finally, the pastor was a bit underwhelming. Simply too saucy to fully enjoy it. A C grade on that. Only negative would be how greasy they were. The tortillas were absolutely drenched in grease which wasn't great. Overall, a solid experience. Wish I would've degreased the tortillas more.

I came last night and it was really busy. I ordered a carnitas burrito, one of my favorites. The food took over 45 minutes to come after we ordered it. Our table ordered 5 tacos and a burrito.... 45 minutes is outrageous. Once it finally came, my burrito was about half the size of what it typically is (posted a photo of my last burrito from here for reference) Then, they cut the burrito and there were pieces of foil all in the burrito (pictured) really not okay. The worst part, there were three massive bones in my burrito!!!!! When I complained, they said that carnitas has bones in it... I've never had bones in my burrito. They asked if I wanted something else and I said I want the same burrito but without bones and they told me that if I got the same meat it would probably also have bones in it so they didn't remake it for me. If I bit down on it I could've broken my tooth or choked. Really really disappointed with my experience last night. I'll be back because this isn't "normal" for them, but I'm really disappointed. The manager ended up comping my burrito and explained to me that sometimes baby bones get through the meat when they're cooking it... you can see from the picture we're not talking about baby bones- these were three massive quarter size bones
