This is one of the authentic and yummy Mexican food. They manage the place well, from when it was only in a truck until they are able to rent the place as the restaurant. My favorites are chicken, beef, and birria tacos. You have to try the birria. It's sooo juicy and tasty, you'll leave fully satisfied and bring it into your dream.
I am always on the hunt for great tacos, especially al pastor, and when a friend was visiting from out of state I was excited to try a new place and this one popped up. No issue with it being in the back of a grocery/convenience store, some of the best food comes from there, however to not have carnitas on the menu? Bummer. Also with the Cass Ave hipster crowd having a gathering in the parking lot should have been my second clue that something was amiss. They weren't the worst tacos I've ever had, but they were just bland. My friend got chicken and she said the only flavor was the lime juice she squeezed on, and my chorizo tasted just like some greasy ground pork but no spice at all. The asada was okay, and the shrimp was okay. Tortillas were fresh, and horchata was good but next time I'll know that if I want tacos in Detroit, like real Mexican tacos, it's Vernor Highway or bust. Thankfully Tienda Mexicana in Madison Heights had carnitas tacos so we made a pit stop on our way back to the suburbs so my friend wasn't totally disappointed with her visit.
This is a nice fast authentic taco place in Detroit. I have had better tacos but it's still pretty good
Ok, if your looking for five star sit down, this isn't the place - but if you want authentic Mexican food quick in the D, it's one of the best. It's become my go to for Menudo and anything Ceviche....arguably the best in the D as far as that goes. Most take out, but I eat in - and I'm still usually out in a half hour or under. Bottom line - you can't go wrong if your hungry and in a hurry.
My favorite taco truck by far. We live in dearborn heights but will do the 30 minute drive to eat this yummy food. Never a complaint.
I ordered birria tacos for my family and I. Everything looked great and fresh. I took out my camera to snap a picture because I was excited. This was my first time having birria tacos. I've been wanting to try them for a while. Yeah so the tacos and soup were horrible. It had zero flavor. The taco taste like boiled meat and the soup taste like warm water. I seriously contemplated if I had caught covid because it was tasteless. If it wasn't for the taste of the orange pop I ordered, than I probably would have convinced myself that I have covid. This place has great reviews so i don't know. Maybe a bad day.

Once again, this is an authentic taqueria. It means that if you're the chicken fingers and potato sticks type of eater, please don't embarrass yourself. There's beef and chicken taco's for the maybe kids. But if you are a serious authentic taco connoisseur, do get the lengua, the tripa and or the al pastor. Don't forget the cevice as well. Sinking your teeth on any of the taco's sold here feels like you're in the streets of mexico. The streets where you won't find a single tourist anywhere. Tripa and Lengua is usually the most popular as far as I'm concerned. Order that stuff "con-todo", it means with everything on it. Onions and cilantro for the win baby!! Wait for it by the window to take home and eat it, or you can enter their dining area and have someone bring it to you table side. Thirsty? There's a fridge with sodas, mostly imported stuff like jarritos and Mexican coke. If you're not into the whole carbonated drink,, there's a horchata dispenser as well. That drink my friend is very very addicting. Hole in the walls are the best,, food trucks are the best too. This spot combines the two together. Come eat here, it's truly an iconic food spot for the REAL MEXICAN TOWN. Thank you very much for reading my review.
Over a decade a most unique Taco Truck with a dining room. Yes about a month ago they open Dining Room after Covid. You order at Taco Truck and take a seat inside then they deliver to your table. If waiting in your car they wave at you. A very large clean dining room with clean restrooms always filled with mostly Mexican Families enjoying the food from the homeland of Jalisco Mexico. Both parking lot and dining room packed when we visited around lunch hour. They opened another location in the Cass Corridor 5 year's ago inside a market and another Taco Truck in New Boston Mi area. Famous for the Full Size Double Stuffed Tacos at half price of restaurants around town. All come with Radishes, Lime, Grilled Onions n Salsa. I got 3 marvelous Al Pastor Tacos WOW fantastic. She had 3 mega Chicken n Cheese Quesadilla only 3 Bucks each outstanding Delicious. I added a Chicken Cheese Burrito OMG came with a Grilled Jalapeno. Truly a decade old hidden gem in Sw Detroit. Corner of Livernois and Toledo you gotta use Google maps to find it. Won't see those Suburban Gringo Hipsters at this place. For the real deal named one of the very best in Detroit by many published articles. But the flavors were bright, the ingredients high quality and the fresh salsas were hooot!!! masks are required to order.
Hidden gem, great fresh and affordable food. Going on a Friday or weekends will require a bit of a wait but not the end of the world, lots of free parking

WAAAAYYYY OVERHYPED. It seems maybe pork is their specialty and I'm not a big pork eater. My first time here and the customer service is a bit chaotic. I got a shrimp/ chicken taco. NO FLAVOR/ HARDLY ANY ONION & CILANTRO. SAUCR HAD NO FLAVOR. EVEN THE GRILLED JALAPEÑOS (toreado) HAD NO FLAVOR/Spice!! Something smelled grilled/bbq. Must've been the pork. Sidenote: I paid for 2 tacos and a drink for $11. I got another drink and it was $3 more. It seems they may have forgotten I already paid for one drink. Not sure. The non-flavors ruined my desire to return. Im going to the truck up the street to see if they can get my palette back right. Sm read more

Ok, if your looking for five star sit down, this isn't the place - but if you want authentic Mexican food quick in the D, it's one of the best. What better taco truck to go to than no other than one that is located in Mexican town.. Hands down one of the best taco trucks i have been to by far, has the authenticity of taco trucks in the California area I figured i should stop by for some tacos on taco Tuesday but do it right and visit a taco truck and i was not disappointed because when it comes to tacos i want the real thing Staff is super friendly and offer you a seat and ask what youd like to drink inside behind their taco truck.. so you have the option of eating inside and outside We got some shrimp tacos this time and a couple jarritos and im looking forward to next time to trying their fish tacos 3 dollars a taco not too bad read more

There are three ways to know this place is good before eating. One, it's a tiny, literal hole-in-the wall. It's actually really clever -- but the truck acts as the kitchen, and there's a dining room that is behind the truck if you want to sit down and eat. Each of the tables have three squeeze bottles of salsa. The salsa verde is my favorite -- not too spicy, but just enough kick to add some more flavor to the already flavorful tacos! The tacos come with so much meat that you can barely fold it together. They're topped with cilantro and fresh onions (of course, you can opt out), and a side of grilled onions, a grilled jalapeno, and limes. I've never had grilled onions served with my tacos, and at first, I was skeptical, but the onion flavor is just such a good addition, especially when paired with the fresh onions! I'm a fan! Two, upon entering the restaurant, you notice the Spanish on the TVs, and the Latinos filing up the tables. You instantly feel like you're going to be served authentic food. Out of all the places to eat in Mexicantown, people come to this tiny place in the middle of a parking lot. That's a good sign that you're going to get authentic food. The final giveaway is the high Yelp reviews -- and they deserve them all! The food comes out so quickly, and service is really polite and friendly! Payment is even based on the honor system; you order your food, then eat, and then tell them what you ordered on the way out. The food is so cheap too -- $5 for 3 tacos!! Even if you know where you're going, it's a little tough to spot. However, I'd definitely recommend taking the time to find this place, you won't be disappointed and will leave happy!! read more
My boyfriend recommended this place in a warehouse. The food truck sits outside where you can order to go or order and sit in. For starters we ordered ceviche that was delicious. Self-served drinks in which my boyfriend had the grapefruit jarritos and I of course got the horchata. read more
Talk about a diamond in the rough. Mind Brian S.'s review in noting that the taco truck is pushed back in a giant fenced-off parking lot. Also, this is a great truck to hit up during the winter as yes, there is in fact indoor seating. If you go inside the clandestine door of the building, you will walk into a restaurant-like space replete with booths, beverage refrigerador, horchata, salsas, and even bathrooms. Order your food at the truck - if it's "for here," you pay after you're done eating. They will bring it inside for you. The tacos are ROBUST! Packed fat and full of delicious meat. Also served with a side of tasty grilled onions and grilled jalepeno (watch out for the seeds! They are frickin' spicy). Apparently on the weekend they also have ceviche tostadas and something with shrimp. But my immune system has been on the fritz lately so I wanted to limit my mystery raw seafood intake. Total Average Taco Score: 8.25 (low 7 high 9) type: taco truck with auxiliary indoor eating space price: ? Sorry, I was taken here and fed without having to ante up! I's one lucky lady. 7 - atmosphere: The truck is in a parking lot and the restaurant area has definite wear and tear. You don't come here for atmosphere. 8 - SALSAS. Definitely grab the orange/brown one. Red and green also good though not mind blowing. Red or orange were the hottest but still light on the palate. 9 - carne asada (steak): my favorite of the bunch. flavorful. lean. moist without being oily. 8.5 - pollo (chicken): mmmm. moist. white meat. with a good flavor (not sure where it comes from as there is no sauce or grill or marinade visible on the meat). 8- chorizo: woo lawdy! salty like nobody's business! But tasty with a slight spice kick. Ground up. 7.5 - al pastor (pork): doused in flavor but also oil. bits were fatty and chewy (I'm a picky meat eater - my poor grandmother has an American for a grandchild, much to her dismay). Strong flavor but not as multi-layered as some marinated pastor can be. --------------- Notes for list: - I go in blind - no reviews no nothin' - just me and my own palate - parading down the Vernor Hwy strip (and some offshoots) - ranked out of 10: 10 being the best street tacos from Mexico (in small towns and big cities) - short and to the point: sorry, no fancy artful writing - a girl's gotta plow through these puppies! read more

In the parking lot of a produce warehouse you will find the most authentic and best Mexican food in Southwest Detroit! I wanted to go somewhere that was not overrun by tourists, so I asked a friend that lives in the area where to go and they recommend me to try this place. I was very happy with my choice! It's a Mexican taco truck but with indoor seating behind it. We tried the torta de asado and some tacos de asado, delicious! Perfectly cooked bad fresh ingredients. It's a place where the locals go to eat. Definitely try it! read more

Don't come here expecting fast food. This is authentic Mexican street food ladies and gentlemen everything from tacos burritos and tortas. This is my favorite taco stand in Southwest Detroit, they even have a small makeshift dining area adjacent to the cooking stand, if you're looking for authentic Mexican street food this is your place. read more
