As a customer with a physical disability, I requested assistance with refueling. Instead of providing the assistance required by law, the employee initially refused to help me. It was only after I insisted, referred to the applicable disability laws, and requested that he contact his supervisor that he finally agreed to assist me after receiving approval from his supervisor. Even then, I was told that the assistance was being provided "only this time," which left me wondering whether I would be denied service if I returned to the station in the future. When I asked for the supervisor's phone number so I could discuss the matter directly, the employee refused to provide it. According to both federal and California law, gas stations that offer self-service, full-service, or both are generally required to provide refueling assistance to drivers with disabilities upon request. I respectfully request that management investigate this incident, review the actions of the employee involved.
