Quite a shady location.. I usually come to this location to get quick $10 car washes. Having a black car, man it attracts a lot of dust. - Liquor store itself is dim and small. Staff always seem to look out of it, I don't blame them.. - Car Wash : the machine outside usually breaks down so you have to step foot into the store to grab a ticket for the car wash. Standing outside of your car sometimes is frightening.. As a petite small female, i got approached by a few people here trying to pump some gas.. This location is meh. read more

Shell - Expired about a month ago. - Gas Stations Near Me - San Jose, California

Came here for a car wash since my nephew wanted to do a drive through car wash. He had fun, but the machine for some reason sprayed soap at the end of the extreme wash. For this I'd say just get the regular wash. read more

This particular location is actually a little shady. It is right across the street from a busy shopping center (The Plant), so it is conveniently located, but probably not the safest in comparison. If your low fuel indicator light comes on, I'd try my best to go elsewhere. The only reason I still come here is because son's basketball league takes place right around the corner. If for some reason you don't have a choice, just make sure you scope out your surroundings prior to pulling up. We are already paying crazy prices for gas right? So might as well be safe while we are at the pump! read more

This criticism has solely to do with customer service yet not in sales. I walked past this station last night in the wee hours. Next door between Burger King and the shoe store a water pipe had bursted and was shooting up water 20 feet in the air. A few cars were driving by but I didn't see any authorities. I walked up to the Shell as it was right next door and at the open window to ask the employee to call the police, at least....I didn't know who else to call in the middle of the night. I showed him my phone and that it was on 0% charge (otherwise I would have not asked him and I wouldn't even feel the need to write this now as I would have sorted it out). He asked me three times where this was happening....I said....Right next door at the Burger King; there's water spewing everywhere. He thought, I'm sure, that I was just some crazy lady. I said listen 'all I'm asking IF YOU COULD BE A GOOD STEWARD and call the authorities on this matter. And he absolutely refused. Screw this employee. He should be fired for simply NOT CARING. read more

Pouring rain. My debit card wasnt being read. So I had to go inside. The gentleman in front of me was having the same issue as me. I guess the system was down. So the register clerk had to go out with the customer to check out the pump station. I figured they would be out there a while. I noticed another clerk in the store stocking right next to the register. I asked him if he could ring me up. As well as fill me up on #8. He stated " No I cant were short staffed right now, and I have other duties to perform" Serious??! There was no one else in the store and there was no one else behind me in line. Little punk. Bummer I hit this shell every week before I head across the street for errands at the shopping center. I'm not coming here for gas again. Times are hard in 2020. Acknowledge and help customers, bro. read more

Friendly employees. It can get busy pretty quick, but it's expected. The car wash is very convenient and does a good job. The vacuum is a plus as well. The only downside is that its hard to get thru sometimes since everything is so close together. read more

READ BEFORE GOING! Surprise this place has 2 stars. Horrible service!!! The guys helping was nice but the car wash was the worst. We bought the ultimate was and after the soap was rinsed off the whole thing just turned off. No lights nothing and in the end we drove out with a wet half way washed car. NO DRYING. Never had that happen before which is probably why it was the most empty one. Do no go here and will not be coming back. read more

I CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT I JUST WITNESSED! Employees treat customers terrible and they steal from customers. The Asian man and Indian man working steal from customers and are very rude. There was a couple who paid for gas and the employee put it on wrong pump and would not refund her. Another customer pumped their gas. I walked out without buying anything! I would rather run out of gas than support a company who does this to people. The workers should be ashamed of themselves. This area is not so good so the employees better be careful treating people like this. This could have ended differently and could have put everyone in danger. The staff have no training to deescalate situations. They only made this worse. They should have gave the customer the gas they paid for. I told the couple to contact corporate as I will be doing the same. There's a reason this gas station has terrible reviews. read more

This is !@#$ difficult to reach. It's on a busy corner of Monterey and Tully Roads, across from The Plant Shopping Center. Had I seen it early enough, on my way to The Plant, I'd have pulled into it. As I hesitated, the lane beside me was quickly filled and I had no way over there. After shopping, I returned, but it still wasn't easy. The price of the diesel fuel was $3.099, which is quite good when you consider some are charging over $3.50 now, and the majority are charging around $3.25. Naturally, the receipt paper had run out, so I went into the store to get the receipt. I looked for a soda, but they wanted $1.99 for a 20 ounce soda, and didn't have most others marked. When I asked for the receipt, I included the pump number, so then, she asked for the price. I didn't exactly remember, but wouldn't it be the latest on the pump? It took a while but she was friendly. read more

Thank goodness for this Shell, for without it, I would have no gas and would have been stuck on the road. This is a nice shell, large area, you're not squished up against other cars that are passing by and the filling stations are far apart enough that you can definitely sit in the same lane as a huge truck and still not have to drag your pump over. The only complaint maybe is that the pumps are extremely slow. It took me forever to fill up and their receipt system is bizarre too. read more

The worst customer service I bought a $9 car wash. Car wash just gave my car just water and the green light showed in from to exit. No soap, no brushing and no drying at all. Went inside and told the whole story. They didn't believed me at all. They told me bring my receipt. I had to go through the garage to find my wet receipt. After that they finally gave me the car wash. They had no trust in customers and they ( Lorena ) were really rude. Overall I wasted my time. read more

Absolutely horrible, they are always closed at 6:00 AM when people are trying to get stuff to go to work! The pumps never print receipts, stay away from the shell on Monterey Rd is read more

The highlight of my experience at the pump was the lowest price in the area for Top Tier premium V-Power gasoline. Tried to pay at the pump and got an error message. ...had to go inside to authorize and get a final receipt...not so good. One of the 2 squeegees in my area was missing the soapy foam portion to wash windows...the other squeegee was too big for the container...making a soapy squeegee a challenge. The two paper towel dispensers in my area were out of paper towels. ...since the gas station was in general disrepair...what else doesn't work? read more

It's a gas station. As far as they go this one isn't too bad. It is well-lit and clean with an okay car wash. Unfortunately Shell installed those blaring television boxes at the pumps which blast annoying commercials at you when you are still half asleep in the morning or after a long and hard day. The car wash is all right but a bit expensive for what you get. You will need to go inside and ask for the code to operate the air and water. read more

The card readers suck. Attendants not very helpful. Another place down the way is better and more reliable read more

They're kinda unreliable for gas believe it or not. There have been many occasions where I have come here to fill up and they tell me that they do no accept card because the system is down. I'd understand once or twice but it happens pretty frequently. I don't even try them anymore I get my gas elsewhere because I shouldn't have to go withdraw cash somewhere else just in case they can't take card that day. read more

Very rude cashier lady. Absolutely gross attitude! This cashier is usually working Saturday and Sunday morning. She has a low ponytail please be aware of her. This is a fairly new shell in San Jose. The pumps and store inside is organized, well lit and pretty clean. the sucky part is that there's often transients or homeless folks hanging around who beg for money or come up with an excuse to hit you up for cash. really no money for gas? where's your car? oh you don't have one? what you need money for a bus ticket back to reno? how the hell did you end up at this shell? the greyhound station is in downtown. fill up quick, watch your back and don't fall for the schemes they try to lay on you read more

Very shady location. I always see homeless around this place yelling vulgar things near the bus stop and never wanted to approach it. However, this morning I had a found out my tire needed air so I had no chance but to stop by on my way to work. To my surprise, the air wasn't free unless I was a customer. I thought there was a California law saying it should be? Also, straight when I got out of the car, I was harassed by a homeless. Never coming back to this place again. read more

This shell does not play fairly! The heavy set Mexican girl laughed in my face when she put the gas I paid for on pump 1 instead of 11 like she WWwas supposed to!! When I called to speak with the owner, she answered and proceeded to hang up on me! This is THE WORST behavior towards a customer!! read more

This location waters down their soap in the car wash so much, that you can't even tell that any soap was used. It looked like nothing but water was sprayed on my car. They have it set so it gives such a shoddy rush job, that there are still wax marks on certain parts of my car. I have never had this problem with other Shell/Loop car washes. What cheapskates. Avoid this one. read more

I never really feel the need to check in at or review gas stations, but too many consistently negative experiences here have really compelled me to speak up. It's so weird because as someone native to this area in many respects, I have no problem with the other three corners of the intersection where this Shell sits. Oak Hill? Quiet. The Plant? Has it's own issues but those are mostly related to the people who drive and park there (including myself on a tense day). The furniture store that always looks closed? Who's it really hurting? Then we have Shell - where the dark clouds settle. I consider myself lucky to be able to count the number of times I've been approached in an unwelcome manner at other gas stations on only one hand; at this Shell, though, there has lit-er-al-ly never been a visit where I haven't been solicited for spare change, asked if I needed my windshield wiped, or just straight up yelled at. I wouldn't dare ever coming here at night to pump my gas, even if I wasn't alone. It's a shame that this station is the closest gas to my office and my parent's house, but if I'm desperate, I clutch my key between my knuckles as I pump and fly down the driveway like a bat outta hell when I'm done. read more

They are REALLY slow inside . I suggest when you come here to pay with card. I ran inside real quick to grab 2 comes and it needed up being 15 mins for ONE customer . I don't know if her cash wrap wasn't working or if it was a lottery win.. but it took FOREVER. The thing that pissed me off , there was another cashier but he was ducking down. It took him 15 min to ask for the next customer. There was 8 people in line total . So like i said i would avoid going inside. Because they are SLOW. And it wouldn't be my first time. read more

This review is for the car wash. The price is outrageous for the type of wash you get. I picked the $9 option which included a whole bunch of promises that you'll get a great car wash - bullshet and they know it . When you pull up the machine as you to upgrade to an even higher level ULTIMATE wash . I decline . My first impression seeing the foam pieces were very dirty. You put the car in neutral and it guides you through extra fast . Before the cleaning foam even has the time to soak into the dirt your already at the rinse wash and your going through the air dry. Which zooms you through does not give 40-60 seconds to dry like other respectable car washes . Do not go here to wash your car read more

I signed up for the fuel rewards which is what I like about shell and there are many from city to city.

Always closed on the inside but yet the employees and security guard are inside the store. This has happened multiple times. I dont understand how corporate doesnt check the cameras to notice their hourly employees are getting paid to just sit on there phone. This happens almost anytime i come between 9:30pm and 10 pm read more

This is a terrible business, mostly because the girls at the register seem to be unaware of what excellent customer service means. They remind me of that commercial with the waitress who wipes the inside of a piece of bread off on a patron's table upon his reminder that he didn't want mayonnaise on his sandwich. I wish I was exaggerating, but sadly, this has been my experience. I wonder if the employees think their faces will explode if they crack a smile or engage a customer in small talk. All I know is that whoever hired this crew needs a reality check. This place is miserable because the cashiers need to return their personalities for a new set of positive characteristics. Perhaps they should try manual labor for a while.... read more

Honestly this is the worst place!!! The employees do not acknowledge you when they're counting the drawers and only that one drawer is in use apparently because there will always be two people at the register and no activity for customers... Not hey I'm sorry just as if we entered their world and just have wait or leave ... If u need to put cash for gas or buy anything at this place... It's horrible!!! I actually found a Shell station that is cheaper than AM/PM,so that's why I op toned to get some petro here. I also got my car wash and they car wash station did a good job. Another perk they had was a taco shop inside the station. It smelled very tempting......Will go back!!!!! read more

I come to this gas station 3-4 times a week. I pumped gas , I buy water, lottery tickets, coffee n every time I go to use the restroom it's blocked. "It's either out of order" or "the clerks tell me they don't know where the keys are. " I'm a professional who occasionally need to use the restroom when I am there spending money. The clerk do not allow customers to use the restrooms . Why is that ? They have a taqueria in a gas station and no restroom ? This is total unacceptable . I will be taking this to higher mangement in the SHELL gas station or the news media. read more

Today I attempted to spend my life's savings on a tank of gasoline at this local Shell station. When the pump refused to take my bank card as a credit card, where it had two weeks ago when it refused to accept it as a debit card, I went inside. I am a legally handicapped person with legally displayed license plates on my vehicle. I have great difficulty walking and wear leg braces, and walk with a cane when needed. There were three cashiers behind the counter, one of them (who I later found out is named Tony) said to me "We don't help the handicapped, there is a sign over there." OK, so now I am pissed off and say "Can I buy gas?" and tossed my card on the counter, she asked for an amount I said I wanted a fill up, she said, "No I need an amount." So , I asked for 75.00 (woulda been much more if I could use the card). I picked up my card, went to the car, tried to pump gas and it would not work. I pushed the help me button, after several minutes the same girl came on the speaker and told me "If you were respectful you could have gas." I told he I didn't need to be respectful as a condition to be assisted, since handicap assistance is the law. I called Shell Corp, who says this station is an independant and therefore they have no say in what they do, but they would take my complaint. What recourse do I have, other than buying gas elsewhere? And since when does a sign allow a gas station to disobey the law? read more

This place sucks. The air pressure has been broken for more than a year and still hasn't fix.

If I could rate a negative 5 I would. This is by far the worst gas station in existence. The employees are terrible at their jobs and extremely disgruntled. I think their is a homeless camp behind the car wash because of the amount of pan handlers. I think the only reason they stay in business is because theirs no other options in gas nearby. Stay away from here if you care about service!!!! read more

It wouldn't be so bad to come here, but the pumps are always broken. What I mean by that is, I can't just set it to pump. I have to stand there and start it over and over again. Maybe the sensors are broken or to sensitive. I pretty much hate going to any Shell station read more

I wouldn't even give it a one star rating but I have no choice. This gas station is terrible. Card readers never work so expect to go in and "prepay." Cars parked in every direction to pump gas so it makes for difficulty pulling in or out. People coming up and haggling you for some change. And then there's the car wash that's by far one of the worse ones I've tried using. I try to avoid going to this gas station but always end up giving it another shot, and it's always an unpleasant visit. Not convenient at all. read more
