I mainly come here for the Car Wash and to vacuum my car because it's quick and convenient. Typically not really busy so I am in and done easily without having to wait on anyone. The Car Wash does a pretty decent job on cleaning your car which most drive thru car washes are typically just ok. I always add the Car Wash to my Gas Fill Up which sometimes often cheaper price per gallon when you add a Car Wash. Shell also offers a rewards program where you can get 5 cents off per gallon. The very few interactions I have had with the staff has always been nice. read more

I have recently started going to get a car wash at 5:30am party because there is never a line, and it does a good job for $10, but mostly because Veronica the shop attendant is such a lovely person! Every morning she greets me so kindly, and asks, and remembers how my days/weekends have been. I just know she makes so many people's day's better with her thoughtfulness and benevolence. On 5/12/2026 at around 11am, I attempted to pump gas and I enter the store to pay, but turns out that the Hispanic trashy looking lady, either she was having a bad day or she was on some sort of drugs. As I'm standing in the register I prompted to ask her if they accepted pre-paid credit card ? and she immediately told me with an attitude I don't know what you're talking about, I haven't had any issues with any other people paying, which I that point left me confused with her answer. I then proceeded to say so you don't have knowledge of what I'm asking ? I said to her it's a simple question and she continued to with her snappy attitude. As of Jan 1, 2023 Law AB 1632 requires stores that are selling goods allow their customers to use toilet facilities, and the cashier this morning refused to let my daughter use the restroom. It was early, and nothing else was open, the 7-11 also claimed no bathroom, but this Shell cashier was rude. I told her what I thought and am glad I did seeing all the other negative posts about the staff - I hope this place gets shut down. Zero stars. read more

Hit or miss. I prefer not to go in. Have had some weird customer experiences. A clerk once literally threw my change at me and had to bend down and pick it up from the floor. Bad. Pretty degrading. This shell Gas station is by far one of the worst Customer service station in San Diego. It is located on the Clairemont Mesa Blud, on a road that has little or no maintenance at all. On a Friday afternoon I drove over a large pothole and popped my front and rear tires on the driver side. Conveniently front of this establishment. So I pulled in to this gas station to not damage my vehicle any further. The gas attendant after a few hours asked me to remove myself from the business because I was an inconvenience and that they would have my vehicle towed. Wow it's a service stations I understand if I block a gas pump but I was near the 24 hour water and air compressor. This gas station is a joke and should be avoided at all costs. This place has more register issues than any other gas station I've ever seen. I work nearby and I used to stop in and try and grab a Powerade and snack before work but after the 4th time that they couldn't sell me something because their register was on he fritz I said no more. One time they scanned my Powerade and I was also buying some beef jerky and the upc wouldn't scan so they said I couldn't have it. The rudest people at this Shell. Gas station itself is remodeled and pretty clean and nice. Machine did not give any receipt, so when asked for it inside I was basically ignored. Then lets not talk about the car washing experience. Horrible, the car comes almost as dirty as it enters and I don't really see much the difference among the 3 options. I came to this location to gas up my car. It was in need of it. Thank goodness there was a restroom on the side. I just needed to ask for the key as it was mentioned on the door. The lady working here was nice. There's also snacks and drinks you can purchase inside. It's on a busy intersection but I completely support all Shell gas stations. It's the only location I will put gas in my car. I don't like switching out other brands. I have always been consistent with my gas. I know people say it's all the same but I'm sticking with Shell. Loyal customer with Shell. Easy to get in and out of here. I would come back if I was in the area. read more

The gas station itself is pretty standard, with a moderately-sized convenience shop in the center. Gas prices are on par for the area, and food prices aren't too bad either. They offer free air for your tires with purchase of gas (what place doesn't these days?), so overall, it's your pretty standard gas station. It lost stars because of its car wash. You have three options, ranging from $6 to $8. The car I was in had just gotten poo'd on pretty badly by birds, so I decided to pay the extra and get The Works (the $8 wash). It made me a bit nostalgic to be inside the wash, reminding me of when I was little and sat inside my dad's car while we drove through the car wash, but I was heavily disappointed upon leaving. Looking at my car, it was still covered in bird crap. This was fresh stuff, not like it'd been sitting in the sun so it could get caked in for a week. It barely even touched it, though. Major waste of $8. Don't bother using the car wash unless all you have on your car is a layer of dust. On a corner busy corner so thank goodness can get into though awkward getting car to pump I need on other side. Tight turn. When I went a lot of those yellow " out of gas" baggies over pumps. So thankful I chose the right pump and beat out a customer coming at the pump towards me( sorry to that customer) . I paid 2.70 per gallon at lowest setting and paid with my shell rewards. I have enjoyed the remodeling of these gas pumps. It's more clean with nice tv screens to keep you occupied while waiting for your gas to pump. I find such useful information from Rachel Ray, play along with contestants on Wheel of Fortune, and finding out that Shell gas is the best gas in the world. Well that' what was playing on tv, I promise! Before you know it, after tall the programming and advertising drilled into your brain, your gas pumping time is over and you're on your marry way! Stopped by for some late night gas. I asked the attendant to watch my car so nobody steals my gas while I use the restroom as a joke and the attendant took it offensively. I left with a very sour taste in my mind as he asked my background to make me admit the courteousness that I should have towards others and elders. How should my nationality and age have anything to do with the respect that I have always given others? He made it clear that I should have respect for him and I apologized for any offensiveness and he reminded me that next time I should watch what I say. It is clear to me now that this man has no empathy as he denied to acknowledge any apologies and continued to make snide responses to anything I said. I was left completely disgruntled to the point where this gas station has become the only place I have given one star to. I have never been so offended by an older gentleman. Anybody demands respect may not deserve it. I attempted to show you some common courtesy by apologizing and you spit in my face by belittling me and I am extremely offended. Either I'm the scum of the earth or... Sorry but I have never made that mistake and I never will again ever at this station ever again. Edit: The amazing night that I shared with my friends while visiting San Diego is the last thing on my mind as this experience supersedes any final thoughts regarding the night that I may have had before this incident. It is very disappointing how the extremely rude attendants at this Shell station can ruin one's day. I wonder why the management does not do a thing about some of the ignorant, downright hostile and aggressive attendants working there. They should realize the kind of attitude displayed by these morons is really bad for business. Case in point: today I entered the building to give cash and tell which pump I was. The fellow sitting with his legs propped on the side of the counter was completely immersed in his cell phone. After a little while he stood up, took my money, I told my pump number, and the fellow without a word went back to his cell phone. After gassing up I went back for my change. The fellow was helping other customer (in slow motion) and when my turn came he says (his exact words): What do you want? I answered I want my change and handed him a Dollar and some coins to round up the numbers and have just a $10 bill back. Next he says he is not a computer and gets really confused so I tried to explain I was giving him the extra change to have just one $10 bill back. He looks at the computer, scratches his head (obviously math is not his forte) and throws, and I mean THROWS a $5 and four $1 over the counter. I was so confounded by then that grabbed the money and walked out, only then realizing he should have given me $10. Back I go; the fellow realizes his mistake and throws another Dollar over the counter. I just made an acid comment and walked out the place while the guy kept saying nasty things to my back. I was completely taken aback, dumbfounded that in this day and age, right here is San Diego, there could be imbeciles like this managing a mart and gas station, a completely ignorant fellow without a trace of politeness. BAD BAD BAD BAD EXPERIENCE, avoid this station like the pest! I already had bad experiences here with other attendants, but just chalked them out as them having a bad day; nothing like today though. Over the past two months, I've complained three times to the people working at this place that their car wash payment machine isn't working, and each time they apologize and say they are getting it fixed soon. The machine says it accepts a five digit code, cash, and credit cards. No matter what card I use, it's always declined. Also, the machine won't take cash. You literally have to leave the car wash, go back inside the gas station, and purchase a five digit code, which is the only thing the machine will take. Totally inconvenient. It's been over two months, and I'm sure a bunch of other people have also complained to them. Seriously, they just don't care. Is it really that hard for them to get their machine fixed? DO NOT BUY A MULTI PACK CAR WASH HERE! I purchased their buy 5 get one free package. The receipt wouldn't print. The attendant told me they didn't have car wash packages and he could only refund me one car wash. I showed him my credit card account online was charged for 5 washes. He still didn't understand. I had to come in the next day to talk to the manager who told me she would be there at 7 but wasn't there.
