You'd think that after spending $40 on gas, using the microwave in the convenience store at the same gas station wouldn't be an issue. I saw the "No Outside Food Allowed" sign taped to the microwave and respected the policy, turning back to find another place to heat my dinner. But the way the attendant handled it was unnecessary. Rather than addressing me politely, he barked at me as if I hadn't read the sign or was about to ignore it and do it anyway. To make the visit even more unwelcoming, there was no greeting when I walked in, despite making eye contact. I understand that retail can get busy, but there were no other customers in the store to justify that excuse. The first thing I noticed was his annoyed expression and crossed arms, like he didn't want to be there. A simple, "Hello, sir. I apologize, but we don't allow outside food in the microwave," would have been more than enough. Any reasonable person wouldn't waste time arguing over a policy like that. I had planned to grab some snacks and drinks for the road while my food heated up (if I had been able to use the microwave), but that interaction instantly changed my mind. If a business can't provide basic customer service, I see no reason to spend extra money there. On top of that, the store was poorly maintained. It had been raining all day in San Diego, and the floors were slick with tracked-in dirt. A single wet floor sign wasn't enough to make the space feel safe. Even as I left, there was no "goodbye" or "stay safe," which would have at least shown basic courtesy given the weather. I'm giving two stars because I believe businesses can improve when they take feedback seriously. But unless I'm in an emergency and can't make it to another gas station, I won't be returning to this location. This wasn't about the microwave, it was about poor customer service and an unwelcoming atmosphere. We all have bad days, but that's no excuse to take it out on customers. If another customer had been less patient than I was, this could have escalated into a bigger issue. read more

I just stopped by to use the bathroom and get snacks and Abel and Robert were so kind and helpful. I was so impressed with the bathroom. Not only was it very clean it smelled so good! My husband said the same thing about the men's bathroom. The entire store looks clean and organized as well. read more

Terrible gas station with non functional pumps. I kept getting INSERT CARD OR START FUELING. So which one is it? Can I fuel without inserting my card or do I need to insert my card?????! So I insert my card and the machine can't even register there's a card in the slot. I go to a different machine and SAME ISSUE. I believe his name is Matt. Night shift cashier who is very rude and lacks customer service skills. Last night was the 2nd night in a week this guy has given me a hard time. I put my phone number in to get my .13 off per gallon and he didn't apply the discount. Mind you gas is expensive. He charged me the entire 3.59 per gallon. No discount. Fast forward to Sunday night and I usually get 2 bud lights 2 for $4. I've been here a few times and I honestly don't know exactly why. A while back (a few years ago) they were actually fairly cheap for gas. This was when I was an intern and I was comparing it to gas prices to that near UCSD. Well, I would come here because they had cheap gas prices and now I come here because it's close and convenient to work. Why not? You figure driving out of your way could cost more than the $0.10 / gal you might or might not save. So to the effect of gas prices, they're alright. I also came here when my car was running low on oil. The engine light popped on saying "Give me more oil!" and I pulled over here. It was nice because I bought two quarts and the attendant handed me a paper funnel! I didn't think they had such things but he just gave it to me anyways. That nice gesture made me a repeat customer for a few times. Now that I moved closer to the tech center Costco, I will stick to their gas if i have the time. But Viper Shell, You're a-ok with me! This is my go-to gas station by work in the Sorrento Valley area! It's kinda perfect because it's right next to Soapy Joe's where I get my car washed regularly. I love this gas station because there are so many pumps and it's rarely ever TOO crowded. The station is well kept and always clean. I never have trouble with the pumps and the attendants are always so nice! The prices for gas are always decent, especially considering the area! Great gas station all around! I usually go to Chevron which is located about a block east of this gas station. We opted to come here since Chevron (at the corner of Camino Santa Fe and Mira Mesa Blvd) was oddly closed around 9pm at night. We trekked back over to Shell and even though it was still expensive, I do appreciate the brightness of the gas station and how spacious the lanes are when getting gas. The mini mart is a bit bigger than Chevron with better selection of products. There is even a Mexican restaurant onsite! Although not open 24-7, unfortunately. read more

I actually only gas up at Shell. My car needed some gas and I happen to see this right next to Nanay's BBQ. This gas station was pretty huge and had lots of space to pull up. Right across is the little mini mart with snacks and whatever you need to get on your road trip. You can either pay your gas inside or if you are paying by credit card, the pump has a system where you can swipe your credit card. After you get approved, the prompt will tell you to pick your gasoline. You can print out your receipt from the machine. I definitely will gas up here if I need gas for my baby. She's still strong and running. Just have to make sure she gets her oil change, gas, etc. She only gets the best. read more

Lines are usually pretty short, the gas prices are always decent for the area. The staff is hit or miss, some grouches, some great people. They don't carry bottled Barq's root beer anymore, which was the main reason I came/come here. Piece of advice for those craving a snack (both edible and in drink form) check the dates. I cannot tell you how many times I have bought a soda or a candy bar to get back to work and find it had expired. This gas station always has gas when I need it and is located fairly close to my work. It's usually sunny outside when I visit this gas station so I am going to credit this Shell station with always having nice weather. The last time I visited I even remembered to pick up some oil in the Shell Mart. I never remember when I visit other gas stations, which leads me to believe this "Viper Way Shell" has some sort of magical reminder powers! I've been coming to this Shell ever since I could drive. Easy location in the middle of Mira Mesa. I have only needed to wait for a pump once. Very close to Target and other places to eat. My only gripe is when they shut off all the pumps to do maintenance. I must be lucky because I've had to drive someplace else to get gas mupltile times because of maintenance. read more

Right off the bat -- this gas station is cheating their customers. I recently went to this gas station to refuel my bike on my way to home. I always go for full tank of gas. At the pump, I tried to swipe the card, and the pump display told me to go see the cashier. And I was not the only person who was heading into the cashier's den. That is some strategy to make the customer walk in to the shop mart, at least a few would buy something apart from gas as well. Calculating and from past experience, the full tank of gas has never cost me more than $14 with current gas prices, so, I requested for $15 authorization on my card. Back at the pump, I started dispensing and the meter hit 3.4 gallons and shut off due to the authorization amount limit reached. Fine! I thought my bike was little more hungry than usual. I pulled the nozzle out and looked in the gas tank. The gas level generally touching the filler tube's neck was way below, about 3 to 4 inch below clearly indicating the pump dispensed less quantity than it showed. Hmm.. what should I do now... They may have made a couple of bucks off me -- not a big deal. Should I suck it up or come here and whine to let others know that this gas station is making a sucker out of its customers. Deceptive. Prominently announcing gas discount from the road with a car wash when the car wash was closed due to COVID-19

I need to file a customer claim of losing the change of $26 bucks in this shell gas station on camino Santa Fe. One of the cashier takes my change and refuse to admit. I used $40 dollar cash to add gas in this station on Friday. But it only fill me $13.xx bucks gas, 4gallon and the pump stops. But the tank is half empty. I did not realized that when I left. When realized it. I came back on other day to ask for the change. The cashier was not the same one, she asked me to come back at another time to ask the original cashier for the change and it shows in the system that I should have the $26.xx change. I went there 2 times, not see the original Cashier, and was asked to leave the original receipt to the store. Just now, I was able to call the original cashier. He refused to admit there is charge left and told me I have added all the $40 gas which is not true!! I hope shell manage see this post can contact me. Beware of this Shell Station and their scam on "Buy gas and buy Soapy Joe's Carwash and get 0.20 Cents off per gallon of gas". My partner just told me that their computer malfunctioned and did not give him his 0.20 cents off per gallon and also did not give him the car wash that he purchased. He then talked with the so called "store manager" who refused to re-ring the sale for him and would only sell him the full priced car wash. I will boycott this place. I've always liked this Shell gas station it was conveniently located and has a drive thru car wash. It's always clean and well maintained. However with the surge in gas prices I've had to find cheaper gas stations. If price wasn't an issue then I'd defiantly come here to fill up. 2nd closest gasstation to the 805 freeway on Mira Mesa Blvd. I believe the prices are cheaper than the the 1st one (which is not as well known as Shell). I experience a wait time of 1-2 cars at this station around 6:45pm ish when the Fed EX drivers are returning and filling up their trucks. The inside is clean as well as the pump stations. read more
