Traveling through the area on the Tuesday night before Thanksgiving in our camper van. Heard a dreadful noise from the front wheel. Pulled into the Shell and Ron was there. He said we could stay in the parking lot and he would have a look first thing in the morning. Looked at our van at 7:30 and we had 2 new wheel bearings and 2 new brakes and were back on the road before 10:30! Can't say enough good things about this man and this place. Just today we needed air in our tires before heading up to Salt Lake. Headed to the large Maverick on Bluff Street near I -15 entrance where we paid to use the Xact Air machine on their property. It only made our tires loose more air. We went into complain about it and the guy at Maverick said the machine doesn't work but can refund money. Out of $2 and with now a flat tire, we hobbled over to the Shell Station two doors down. Before we used their air machine, we went inside to ask. A cute blonde young gal at the register offered to come out and help. She filled and checked all four tires with a big smile saying she loves working on cars and is going to be a mechanic one day. What a great person to have as an employee Shell. You won our business from now on! Maverick....not so much. They'll continue to not care about their broken air compressor, letting their customers waist money and time, without even bothering to put a Not Working sign on it. Right?? read more

After being quoted over $1,100.00 from the Jeep Dealership for an exhaust manifold leak and warped manifold, on my 3 year old V8 Grand Cherokee, (out of warranty) I took it to Ron. He has been my go-to for the last 20 years. After dropping the exhaust, removing a fender well, tapping out a cracked bold, and replacing the exhaust manifold. My total was just over $500.00. While driving through st George, 250 miles from home, and on a Saturday, my car threw a check engine light and kicked into safety mode not allowing me to accelerate. Luckily we were referred to Ron's Shell. They were so helpful in quickly diagnosing the issue, which luckily was fixable. Ron is a great guy and his mechanics are professionals. We are from out of town with a broken CV and he fit us in quickly and got the repairs done in an hour. Ron and his staff will find the problem and then fix it (they do not make up other issues with the car just to charge more money). They are very good mechanics. His prices are usually comparable or the lowest in town. A few years ago my car broke down in Las Vegas. I went to a repair shop in Vegas. It was going to be an expensive repair. I called Ron and gave him the code and price the Vegas shop had quoted. Ron gave me great advice, told me to get the repair done in Vegas as it would not be safe to drive though the desert, and the price was fair as he could only repair the problem for $50.00 less. You can often find sleazy, crappy, mechanics who con you out of your money for unnecessary repairs or fake problems. To find an honest, high quality mechanic is pretty difficult. To find one that has all these things, and is inexpensive to boot is nearly impossible. The thing is, that's just what you get with Ron's Shell, honest, good work, cheaper than anywhere else. Ron, the owner, personally comes out to take care of you and makes sure you're taken care of. I have had the opportunity to have him provide service for me three times now, at the recommend of someone else, and have been very satisfied each time. Another key factor is they are open late as well as Sundays, for those automotive emergencies that happen at inconvenient times. You can't always plan when your vehicle breaks down on your trip to Zion or Vegas. I look forward to continuing to work with him and having my car be in working order for half the price of other places I've used. The followup I've found to be lacking, each time having to call them back to see if it's done after their estimated time. However, when I called, the work was complete so that is only a minor inconvenience and leads me to believe they finished the work within a reasonable time and got caught up working on the next thing. read more

A simple problem that they could've easily taken care of on a warranty issue was made into an in Normas mess that provided difficulty and ultimately left my wife without a van for days. Ron threatened that unless I not disagree with him about a matter of how another mechanic could have obtained information on a warrantee for a part that Ron put in, that he was going to not help me with the matter. Ultimately I disagreed With Ron about how his employees and he handled this problem and he hung up on me. I could not believe the lack of professionalism and the rudeness of Ron. Late afternoon Sunday, air conditioner out, hot day, out of State ! We love Utah, but it can be hard to find an open business let alone a mechanic on Sunday! We were directed to Rons Shell on the Blvd. 1 block off the freeway, pulled in and the mechanic/attendant on duty, greeted us, had our car in the service bay and us in an air conditioned comfortable waiting area. Recharged coolant, checked for leaks, took it on a test drive and had us on our way in less than 25 minutes and under $50 dollars. So impressed with his service to us! Disclaimer: I am not related to nor even friends with the staff at Ron's but I am probably one of their biggest fans. Having an "older" vehicle which from time to time needs extra atttention, I have learned that Ron's does first class work - and always at a fair price! My 93-year old father took my advice to try Ron's for a major repair on his van. Hard of hearing, I don't think he was sure what they said regarding their evaluation of the problem. Instead of having Ron do the repair, he took it to the dealership with the assurance that they would call soon with an estimate. I stepped in at this point as I was sure that he wouldn't understand over the phone. I called a couple of times in the morning and again mid afternoon but never was able to connect with anyone who could answer my questions. Finally, about 4pm I drove Daddy to the dealership to find out what the issues were. They charged $125.00 before they would release the vehicle, just to give us an estimate that the work would be $1,100.00. I paid the $125 and we took the vehicle to Ron the next morning. Sure enough it was what Ron had indicated was wrong. The vehicle was repaired quickly and for under $700.00, which was his original estimate!!!! Ron's St. George Auto Repair and Shell station is my go-to for oil changes, tire repair and even several times I have had to have my car towed for repairs - always to Ron's. I had to call a tow truck, and based on the recommendation of a kind police officer who stopped to help, I had my car towed to Ron's Boulevard Shell. Last August I moved here from Northern California. I needed to register my car in Utah and after researching what I needed to do, I found out I had to have it inspected. I was shocked to think inspections are still needed to be done and was totally clueless as to where to have the inspection done. A friend told me she always takes her car to Ron, so that's where I went. Not only did he inspect my car he discovered my brakes needed to be replaced. I took my car back the next day dreading the wait, but he arranged for one of his staff to take me home and then pick me up when the car was finished. I've had to have three separate services done since then that required more than an hour to complete and all three times I was afforded the same benefit each time at no extra cost. I mean, who does that anymore? His prices are very reasonable and he has never tried to "over sale" me. His staff is very friendly, professional and accommodating.
