I actually am aware it is annoying, believe it or not. So, I resent being told, "You're gomna have to get this fixed, because I can't keep doing this." Uh, excuse me? Do you have something else going on? Have I ever even met you before? I AM THE ONLY PERSON HERE. Haha wth. Sorry that Oregon has a dumbass law that requires you to pump my gas and therefore have a job. But let me jump right on that $200 repair so as not to strain your thumb muscle. Once she ran the quote, she said that based on the type of car & what we were potentially needing that it was "too much labor" "over 5 hours worth" & also stated and I quote "no one is going to want to do this." I politely let her know that was okay & we were happy to do business with another auto shop that was willing to help. I let her know her comment rubbed me the wrong way. She apologized, which I appreciate, but she then justified it by saying she should "know better than to answer the phone so close to closing time" & that she had been at work since 7:30am and was tired. Being that my husband's client reimbursed for this trip to the gas station I decided to give this…read moreChevron station a try, and it was the only station literally on my way home. This Chevron location is literally one of the most expensive stations in town by as much as $1 a gallon, so I don't usually stop here, possibly never have. Now I know this location has atrocious service. In the photo I have here you can see the attendants head in the window of the attendant booth just over the black vehicle's roof. Attendant will not come out to tell patrons need to come into the booth to charge. If not in the know, you just sit with no idea what's going on. I was in my car for a couple minutes, the only vehicle at the service pumps before rolling down my window to make eye contact with the attendant who was standing inside the booth, only maybe 20 feet away. The attendant said something to me, not even in a loud enough voice for me to hear, but I could tell it was demanding. He said whatever it was again this time with exaggerated hand motions but still not bothering to speak at an audible volume. I had no idea what he was trying to say, so I walked to the attendant booth to find out. It may be took me 4 seconds to get there. When I stepped inside, I figured out he wanted me to run my card inside the booth, not at the pump. This time it was obvious that he was intentionally speaking at such a low volume and agitated manner with more hand gestures. I know I would need a receipt, so I shared this. Here I actually got words that were intelligible in an answer back. He said something along the lines of "you can't have a receipt until you have to run your card" with more agitated gesturing towards a machine. I ran my card, and asked for a fill with regular. The attendant did then engage in leaving the booth to pump the gas. When the attendant removed the nozzle he did so right as he walked up to my vehicle and it was still pumping gas; he stopped before my tank was full, then proceeded to walk off without giving me a receipt. I did get the receipt; however, I knew I was leaving at about a loss of about $14. Only 21 gallons went into my tank, and with only 40 miles left on the gas gauge before filling, that means the pump still had around another 3 gallons to go on filling to be a full tank. I had a feeling back in the attendant booth that the attendant did not respect me, because I was a woman, and was treating me as he did because of this. Either way, he wasn't treating me as a fellow human. Between the attendant just walking off after going to retrieve the receipt he forgot/didn't care to give me and his treatment of me thus far, I decided to leave 3 gallons short, instead of engaging with him further. Today I received the kind of service that makes you smile, and feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I was just about home when my tire indicator came on. I saw I had a tire at 9 PSI, meaning I had a flat. I turned around, headed down the hill to the Shell station to fill the flat before heading to the tire shop. The air machine takes quarters. The young man pumping gas saw I needed change before I really even began walking his way, and immediately helped me inside with change for $20. No annoyance, just happy to help. The older gentleman who's worked at the Shell long term, came over to make sure I didn't need help with the air pump machine. I didn't think I did, but he hung around in a very kind manner just to make sure, and it turned out I did need his help. The gentlemen ended up getting down on his hands and knees, filling the tire for me. Yes, I would have figured it out in my own; however, it was so lovely being reminded people sometimes just want to help, out of the goodness of their hearts. 2025 #2

Ok, I avoid ARCO, I do...because they are usually arranged poorly from the start and people drive in and out like they are trying to run you down. They have two different prices for cash and card but to do cash you HAVE to go inside and deal with whatever angry human they shove behind that register (and I have had some insanely nasty ARCO employees) making the extra money savings not at all worth it....especially now that you have to walk in to pay, walk out to pump your own gas and then go back in to get your change! SOOOOOO, imagine my surprise at this location that I use my debit card and get UNDER the posted cash price...WHAT??!? I get to pump my own gas (yes, I am one of the crazy folks who prefers to pump their own gas!) but it is soooo cheap. Another thing I did not like about ARCO is that they ping hold a ridiculous amount on a card - and I get it...I pull up and see the person prior to me spent $80+ to fill their tank but I fill for under $30 even when prices are truly tragic so I did like that I can enter my "fill" amount. The downside was that I figured I would just add $15 an go to one of my actual super cheap gas spots when over on that side of town... and then I see that nope, I am getting a cheaper than that price. So I fill the $15, replace the nozzle, grab it again - rerun the card for another $15 and it draws another $8.13 to actually fill my tank. I am so happy to know the secret though - use your debit card! This is close to home too, runs all night and I love having gas up options.

He greeted me with a big smile and was eager to help from the moment I walked in. When he noticed I didn't have an AMPM rewards card, he even scanned his own card so I could get discounts, completely unprompted. That kind of generosity from an employee is rare and really touched me. He went so far above and beyond what was expected of him. I left feeling really uplifted, and honestly, that's not something you expect from a quick convenience store stop. This employee is a true asset to this location. The main thing is inside they have a solid selection of snacks, wine and of most importance they have coffee. I don't mean the high octane sickly sweet brew found on every corner here in Portland. I mean a cup of Joe. A cup of Mud. Working man's fuel. Something to wake me up and send me on my way without giving me diabetes. Gas station coffee is simply the best, even in Portland!
