PLEASE BEWARE***I highly recommend that you do not take your automobile to the Montpelier Repair Service  at the Shell gas station located at 12601 Laurel Bowie Rd. Laurel MD. 20708 for any type of repair service. And here is why.  On May 11th 2022, I bought my car in because my windshield wiper stopped working.  I explained to Mr. Alex Smith the only mechanic on staff, that my windshield wiper would randomly stop working  but this time it appeared to stop for good.  He quickly let me know that it would be a $90 charge for him to diagnose the problem. I said that's fine because I need to get to the bottom of this it is a safety issue  And that I use my vehicle for work and I am currently transporting my granddaughter to school in the mornings so it needs to be fixed.  After looking at my vehicle Alex Smith informed me that I needed to buy what he was calling a "body modular  system"   And the part would cost $540 and can only be ordered through the dealer. And the total repair cost would be $753 this includes parts and labor.  And that I would have to put up a $400 deposit before he would order the part. When I asked Mr. Alex  what is the actual name of the part so that I can research it because he was calling it a "body modular system" he began to get really agitated  and nasty.  After unsuccessfully getting the actual name or part number from Alex Smith for my research.  I went ahead and gave the cashier the $400 deposit so that he could go ahead and order this part. I needed my car fixed.  The next day after Mr. Alex received the part and installed it he called me to let me know that the part was not the problem and at this point he still didn't know what exactly was wrong with the  windshield wiper.  But he would put everything back together so that I can pick up the car so that I can transport my granddaughter in the morning and drop the car back off the next day. Roughly an hour later Mr. Alex  called me with good news. He said, "Mr. Holeman while putting your car back together I noticed that your relay was sticking and I cleaned it off a little and now it is working fine". I said "Great how much did I owe him since we didn't need that $540 part and in fact no parts where needed?"  This is when Mr. Alex Smith informed me that the cost would still be $753 that I had already agreed on with this previous diagnosis of this $540 part because of the amount of time he invested in working on the vehicle.   I complained adamantly, but to no avail they would not release my car until I gave them the remaining $353. Correction because of the unclear scribble on the ticket the cashier made it a $348 balance.  The next morning while driving my granddaughter to school in the rain guess what? You guessed it the windshield wipers stop working again. I was able to make it to her school and back to the Montpelier Shell service station  where  Mr. Alex had supposedly fixed my car. I complained to the head manager  and he promised me that Mr. Alex would have to fix it with no additional cost. When Mr. Alex arrived he opened the hood took a screwdriver and poked at the the relay and said there it's working. I said that's not a satisfactory repair we need to replace that part and your manager said that you would have to fix it with no additional cost. Mr. Alex absolutely refuse to do anymore to the car without more money out of my pocket.  Since leaving the dealership twice so far I've had to in the rain lift my hood and take something and poke on this part that I saw Mr. Alex poke  to get my wipers to start working again. I feel that I've been cheated out of $540 for a part that after the fact he tells me is a non refundable part.  Had I refundable I received that information up front perhaps I would have gotten a second opinion at the least. Who has a customer buy a $540 non refundable part unless they're absolutely certain that it's needed.  On a previous occasion Mr. Alex Smith mentioned to me that he could get my car to pass a Maryland state  safety inspection "If you know what I mean" If this guy (Alex Smith) is really a licensed mechanic he treats it like it's a license to steal!*****PLEASE BEWARE! read more

How the hell is the gas station closed i just pulled up the attendant said they don't open till 8am for gas on a Friday not even self pay they turn the machine off he stated very rudely. You're placed on the exit before heading to the parkway for a reason dimwits for people to get gas before they head out! Very inconvenient and unprofessional! This location has been modified and looks very clean. It is open 24/7. Very nice customer service.

The air machines outside were not working, so I asked the man in the service shop if he could fill the tire for me. I was getting gas and my request just didn't seem like that much to ask. But this long haired fellow was unbelievably nasty, and said "this is a full service shop" we dont fill air! I questioned that, reminding him that if it's full service why wouldnt he do this? Then he relented, but demanded $3.00 to fill it. I told him it wasn't my fault the machine wasn't working, and his reply floored me. "It's not my fault either" !!! Umm, isn't this your service station? What the heck kind of service is that? He kept saying "this is a full service shop". What does that mean? Like, is it not part of the Shell service station? I cant believe Shell would allow such a person to keep his job! read more

This gas station is a little tough to get into and out of but it is convenient to the B/W parkway. The prices aren't bad if you take into consideration the prices of the gas station across the parking lot. Other than that pay at the pump and jump back into traffic. read more

So, I stopped here to get some gas on my way home from OBX today. The bathroom was pretty clean and the food/drink/snacks selection was not bad. $5 credit card minimum purchase. Merchants don't seem to realize that this? This is a violation of their merchant agreement with Visa/MasterCard. It is also my pet peeve. Stupid gas station. read more

Shell - Auto Repair Near Me - Laurel, Maryland

I went there yesterday to simply ask a question about getting my tire plugged, how long it may take, and how much it would be. The door to the shop was unlocked so i walked in to ask said question. An older man with long curly hair was incredibly rude before I had even said a word saying, "we're closed. we've been closed, i shouldn't even still be here". So i say "i didn't do anything to you so get it together. i have a simple question". He proceeds to go on some long tangent about why he cant answer a simple question and gives more attitude when the question could have been answered by this point. I really do not understand why all of that was necessary but i guarantee i won't be going to this gas station for anything else ever again. The whole situation was incredibly off putting. read more

I am Mike Miles the mechanic at Montpelier Shell i have a negative review by brittney however i didnt rip her off i advised her what she should do in relation to her belt and other parts that where replaced she did authorize the mentioned repair with full knowledge that the part that was replaced some where needed some where highly recommended SHE AGREED!! ....later she told me her friend told her that i ripped her off and in his opinion the parts where fine i cannot make everyone happy but i sure will try ..I am a MD state inspector and ASE certified Mechanic i have been in the community and at this location for 20 years....if you need auto repairs come on down and judge for yourself i am sure you will be very pleased :) read more

WORST PLACE EVER!!!!!!!! I hate when people rip me off. I know I am a woman and may not know much about cars but thats no reason to rip anyone off. I brought my car here because my serpentine belt popped off and this was the closest place before my car shut off. Well, Mike Miles (the only mechanic there) told me "if there is nothing wrong with the belt [he'd] use it." Well he calls me to let me know he needs to replace the tensioner, pulley, and belt and it will coast me $271 which sounded like a hell of a lot! I go to pick up my car and he tells me there was nothing wrong with the belt or tensioner but theses two things usually have problems so he'd replace it now so I won't come back in the future. Needless to say I didn't need either part. My motto is if it aint broke don't fix it! He was an ass and didn't give me my money back or put the perfectly fine parts back on my car! read more

This place is a rip off. I was getting gas when this guy Mike, walks up to me and says my headlights are out and he can fix for $35. When I pulled up to his store, he said he is out of the lights and has ordered them and asked me to wait. After at least 30 minutes, a local parts guy pulls up with the bulb which takes for Mike less than 3 minutes to put in and later I saw the bill at $42. Avoid this shop like a plague. read more

Mike totally hooked me up with a great deal for my tires. He also helped my fiance out with his older GTP, and my fiance is really picky with who he let's work on his car. Service was friendly and fast. I totally appreciate his work ethic and help! read more

I use this gas station all the time cause it's close to my home, however, the owner nor cashiers Never go out of their way for ANYTHING that has a $ sign on it, unless you're their culture or race - I purchased a small bag of pistachios and when I got to my car and opened to eat some, I noticed it was sweet chili (Never heard of it or saw it) so when I went to return it, the owner now present with the cashier, just laughed and then said he was sorry that he couldn't make an exception and give me the reg pistachios because it was opened; very upset and expressing my patronage and support for this station and told him that this station Never looks after its customers in that this minor product could have been replaced free of charge instead of preaching the loss of 1 item for the sake of customer service ..... many foreigners who own businesses .... only look after their own culture and Never for others.
