It was a humid sunny day. I had a huge box in my left arm while steering my bike with my right hand. Obviously, I was in an uncomfortable position, and my back tire all of sudden went flat.
With the box still under my arm, I awkwardly wheeled my bike into the parking lot of this gas station. I went in and asked the attendant if I could use my debit card to buy something and get fifty cents in return so I could use the air pump machine located outside of the building.
The attendant stared at me and screamed, "NO!"
It was loud. And embarrassing. I was taken aback by his extreme rudeness that I stood there for another moment. He then proceeded to shriek "NO!" again. I left.
Because that cheap-ass couldn't take a few seconds to ring up fifty extra cents to help a cyclist (much less awkwardly holding a big box) in distress, I had to walk a mile home with a malfunctioning bike and a package.
It's appalling how rude some people can be. Maybe it's their policy to not make an extra overcharge in order to give cash back, but jeez, don't YELL at people like that, especially if you're trying to get business. read more
