She takes great pride in her dogs. And it shows. Honestly I think she interviewed me more than I interviewed her. She was not going to let one of her puppies go to a home that wasn't good. I can't thank her enough for this perfect puppy of mine. Enzo is now 2 1/2. And he's Everything to me and everything I could hope for in a dog. He's healthy. He's smart. He's well mannered. And he was easy to train. Of course she had him half trained for me when I got him.

We purchased both of our labs from Jeff La Tour at Elk River Kennels and they are the best dogs…read more Also, he trained both of them for hunting and retrieving and basic obedience; both are wonderfully trained. On Oct. 1, 2020, Erin DeMars made FALSE allegations of abuse against La Tour and Elk River Kennels. She stated that her bulldog Olive had blood all over it and was bleeding when she picked it up. In Nov. 2020, a district court Judge determined that DeMars' statements were fabricated and grossly exaggerated. The judge issued a restraining order against Erin DeMars to stop her defamation against the La Tours and their business, Elk River Kennels. Be sure that this is a very reputable dog trainer and your dog will be well cared for while staying at Elk River Kennels. We board our dogs here too when we go on vacation and they've never had any issues.

By the middle of that visit, we knew we'd be switching to Dr. Nation full time with all of our companion animals (we had 5 at the time; one has since needed to be euthanized and Dr. Nation could not have been more compassionate during this difficult process). The Facility: In an unassuming little building located just down the road from the Albertville Outlet Mall, the office is warm and inviting. No harsh fluorescent lighting and busy waiting rooms. The examining rooms are cheery with a padded bench for you (or your animal) to sit on while you wait. The Staff: Often, doctors can be good whereas the staff is disappointing. Not so in this case. All of the staff people with whom we've interacted have been top-notch--friendly, knowledgeable, proficient, and helpful. Melissa, especially (she seems to always be there!) is just great. Dr. Nation: She truly loves animals. You can tell. She treats each one as an individual, unique and worthy of respect (yes, you can respect animals) and takes plenty of time to get to know them. Often, with our dogs, instead of having them get on the examining table (which makes many dogs nervous) she will instead sit on the floor with them. They LOVE her! She hands out plenty of treats and gives the animals time to get to know and trust her. We have never once felt rushed in her office (rather unusual for any doctor). In Addition: We had a foster dog who needed immediate emergency care. Dr. Nation not only got her in ASAP, but actually took the dog home with her overnight so that she could keep an eye on her. On her anniversary. And didn't charge us. If that's not above and beyond, I don't know what is
