    Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce?!! WHAAAA?!!

Whenever we're road-tripping through PA, Sheetz is a must-stop. To put it in perspective for NYers, Sheetz is the Wegman's of gas stations here. Their food quality and customer service is top-notch. They are gleaming, glowing red orbs of hope, visible over nearly every PA-horizon, because there are so many of them here. As far as Sheetz go, on a Sheetz-by-Sheetz basis this one was just okay for us. We stopped in for our highly-anticipated road-trip Sheetz lunch, and were disappointed that this location does not have any eat-in seating at all. Any Sheetz with food ordering should have at least a couple tables inside. Big let down. :-( There were several food-ordering kiosks, but only one would function properly for me, so that was annoying too. But eventually we ordered, cashed out with reasonably service, and headed out to the car to eat. The food itself was great. The hubbs had a burger with jalapeno poppers on top, our daughter a chicken sandwich, and me a triple-cheese sub. We were all pleased with our picks. The burger was a gluttonous mountain of toppings, all done well. The chicken sandwich had a unique sweet flavor due to the Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce, an odd little ditty of a treat. And my cheese sub was well-stuffed and had Miracle Whip, an option I'm always stoked to see available. Our son had a PB & J from the grab-and-go. Every family has one of those. :-P Kudos to Sheetz for doing gas station made-to-order food so well. Overall, this Sheetz was a food quality hit, for sure. Since we had to eat in our car, and worry about kids dripping food all over the place though, this location isn't one of our faves. But if you're not eating in it will probably serve you just fine. Enjoy your Sheetz eats, PA! :-)

Great gas station with cheapest prices (in the immediate area) with a very clean bathroom and large convenience store.

Recently this place changed ownership. Once called Mack's Mini Mart, One Stop came in and claimed…read morethis spot and re-branded it. They have changed a few things about this spot, some for the better, some for the worse. The one huge improvement they have made is the fact that you can now pay at the pump. Prior to the changeover you had to guess-timate how much gas your car would take. Under shoot that amount and you don't get a full tank. Over shoot that amount and you had to walk back in for a refund of the difference. I was so happy to see this change as it reduced the amount of time I had to spend getting gas. Another change is that they have an expanded menu of made to order food. I cannot speak of the food as I have never had a chance to partake in any of it. I only know of this because of the bright-as-the-sun new sign they have out front. It nearly blinds you with the announcement of the deals for the day. Huge, huge negative here, the gas. I'm not sure where they get their gas from, but it is not the best out there. For me, travelling is a big part of my day, and I usually depend on a good gasoline. You think that you are getting a good deal here as it is usually the cheapest gas around for a while. Always a few cents cheaper than the Sunoco up the street, and nearly ten cents cheaper than any other gas station around. But, to me, this is a facade. I filled my gas tank up and headed on my way. Usually when I do this I can make my round trip to work and back on a little over an eighth of a tank of gas. However the day I stopped here, it took a half of tank of gas for the same travel. There were no side trips, no detours, just the same route I take daily for work. I doubt I will stop here again unless I am made aware of a change is gasoline supplier. If I am going to throw money away, I can find better places to do so rather than a gas station.

Honestly, from the outside, this looks more like a strip mall than a 'Mall'. We walked in the…read moreetrance marked Dubois Mall between Big Lots and Ross and sure enough, it's a 'Mall'. Besides anchor stores Ross and Big Lots, there is a large J.C.Penney. The interior public areas are quite wide, with high ceilings. An average sized Bath & Body works and GNC are located in this section of the mall while many of the other businesses are smaller 'mom and pop' type businesses including a kitchen store, a craft store, a remodeling business and HW Book Peddlers to name a few. Wandering down toward J.C. Penney, there is a wide, bare hallway that looks like a dead end. Being of a curious nature, I wandered down there to find another section of the mall. Not as big, it runs parallel to the other section and J.C. Penney is also accessible from here. The mall office is located off this corridor and in front of this was a display of moving dinosaurs! That was a fun surprise. This section includes DuBois Cafe, Uzi's Pastries, two recruiters, Claire's and a nail salon plus more. Like many malls in America, this one is hanging on; not the haven it was in the 80's or 90's. The anchor stores are definitely worth stopping in to visit, and there are several discount stores of one type or another scattered throughout worth a look. That McNulty's looks like a childs heaven with all the stuffed animals! One area is set aside with arcade games. A few other game machines are scattered throughout the mall as well as several soda machines. Empty shop windows have been painted with cartoon characters which is festive. The wide hall ways make a nice space to stretch your legs on a cold, rainy day. There is lots of parking and a fair number of mall entrances. You can easily spend an afternoon window shopping. Who knows you may, like us, find a couple of items to buy. Then stop by the cafe for a snack or meal and walk off the calories or sit on a bench and do a bit of people watching. There are also several other businesses that share the parking lot including a restaurant and a movie theater. I understand the beginning of the Beaver Meadow Trail starts somewhere near the Mall. I'll have to go find that. When it stops raining.

Lord, if a business could get a five star review for the drama taking place outside of the…read morebusiness, this Sheetz would be soaring high. I mean, a gas station in a Rust Belt area of a downtown that hasn't bounced back yet, bit of a stereotype, but kind of spot on. We were heading north on Route 219 and needed to stop to use the facilities. Last time I was through this area, this location was in the midst of a rebuild. Kind of glad they did, it feels bigger, and at the same time felt a bit crowded...I'll tell you why. When we pulled into the lot we spotted a parking spot right near the door and was about to pull in. That is until the drama unfolded. We were literally in the middle of pulling into the spot when a shirtless man appeared in the spot. He was closely followed by a fully clothed man. There was much shouting, a lot of posturing, in your face screaming, threats of bodily harm to one another. All while we idled right in front of them. That is until I told my brother to move to another spot. We backed out, headed to the other side of the store. As we headed that way I saw they had moved out of the spot and into the throughway of the lot. I also noticed that a guy was kind of trapped in his car waiting for them to move along so he could get out and go in the store. As we walked to the door, you could still hear the yelling and threats. Inside, we used the facilities and browsed a bit. I picked up a drink from the cooler and a snack from the aisles. On my way up to the self checkouts the one guy in the outside drama came back in. In a gloating manner he says that the other guy wouldn't lay a finger on him so he couldn't do anything. Not sure who he was saying this to. Maybe it was to someone in the store, maybe it was to the staff who more than likely had to deal with the other man, or maybe it was to no one in general. One thing I can tell you, it wasn't said to me. For what should have been a quick stop on are trek north, it turned into an entertaining stop. Not that we wanted or needed that, but it was a welcomed thing to witness. What made it funny was that no one local batted an eye at the incident, like it was a constant occurrence.
