She made sure we were completely comfortable and had everything we need. She was very clear and concise on the rules which I appreciated. The entire house was very well out together. Super clean and roomy as well. I appreciated how well the walls blocked out sounds from the other rooms. I wouldn't have even known anyone was there if I hadn't seen them. Bed was comfortable, got enough pillows, and I slept like a baby! I had a wonderful time exploring their property. The St Mary River literally runs right though their backyard. It's one of the most gorgeous backyards I've ever seen. I didn't see much wildlife, but I would bet it's an awesome spot for viewing if you have binoculars. Now the best part of a B&B: Morning came and there was a fresh pot of coffee ready and in the fridge, a delicious breakfast. Homemade spinach quiche with turkey sausage, scone and berries with yogurt. It was delicious! Overall I had a fantastic experience at St Mary's River B&B and I will definitely be reconsider staying here on my next road trip through BC.

The common where we hung out and met other travelers area is also very nice. The kitchen is fully equipt so we even cooked a few things! The surrounding nature breathtaking with spectacular views. There is a river that easily offers more than an entire day of fun - fishing, swimming etc.. we even floated down it on an inner tube! The hosts Doug and Dale are super friendly and offered up lots of tips for things to do in Banff. We will be back for sure!

We chose our room, unpacked and enjoyed fresh brewed coffee and homemade cookies before heading out to explore the town. The house and room is warm and cozy unlike other heritage homes in which we have stayed. And the breakfast? Wow! Delicious! Gladys sent us happily on our way with fresh baked muffins which we were to fill to eat at breakfast. We will definitely stay here again on our way through Cranbrook.

Birch Meadows Lodge B & B is a beautiful home about 5 minutes from the Fernie ski resort. It's…read morenicely tucked away up a little road in the mountains off the highway. (If you are there in the winter, be sure to have either a 4 wheel drive vehicle or some tire chains handy.) There's the main house as well as a couple of log cabins set on over 50 acres of breathtaking mountain views. My husband and I have stayed there a few times in the last two years...we couldn't imagine saying anywhere else when we head to Fernie! We like to stay in of the little log cabins, which are cozy and nicely decorated. There's a small gas fireplace to curl up in front of after a long day on the slopes and out the window you have perfectly an unobstructed view of the surrounding mountains. Outside there's a large hot tub next to the main house as well as a nice sitting area indoors with games and movies that can be taken back to your room/cabin for the night. Sonya and Marcel are wonderful hosts...they make you feel right at home! The breakfasts are always delicious with a nice selection of different items & treats. We always leave stuffed! If you are an animal lover, remember to bring some carrots for Slider (resident horse) and give lots of cuddles to the owners friendly dogs. Birch Meadows is the perfect place to stay when in Fernie...you won't want to leave!

3.5 stars The suites…read moreare nice, but the resort suffers from a lack of amenities. No restaurant or spa after being open for more than a year. Being put into a lock-off suite in a mostly empty hotel is off-putting. I want to be pampered, not put into the easiest choice for cleaning staff. The lock-off doors are odd, with a lock system between suites that is not particularly reassuring. The bed is comfortable, and the bath fixtures are mostly high end, but I don't like the gauzy curtain between the ensuite and the bed area. I think next time we may go back to a VRBO, or the resort across the parking lot which has less attractive rooms but offers complementary breakfasts & an onsite restaurant. It's nice, but not finished.

Obviously the Ramada is the smart choice, but it still lacks in value and originality in my opinion. All these hotels look the same and cost the same too. This is why I searched for Bed and Breakfast places this time around. I wanted to try something different. Cranberry Manor was simply awesome! We stayed in the 3rd floor Samuel Spiers suite, of the old but very well kept heritage house. This has two beds a kitchenette, a bathroom, mountain views, a table, a TV (with sufficient channels...I was able to watch WWE RAW) a sitting area. Only drawback, but not for us able bodies, is that this heritage home has no elevator. If that doesn't bug you, I'd recommend this affordable and high value B&B over any hotel any day! As the second B suggests, you get breakfast with your stay and they have a nice choice of meals to select from. Rather scoop crumby scrambled eggs from a heap? Stay at a nice hotel. I prefer my meals prepared for ME. Love this place. It has character, a great location (near downtown), charm, comfort and class. I'll be back!
