I did take advantage of the fitness area, pool and hot tub with the latter two nicely laid out with a view of the golf course.

And I am so pleased with how easy everything was that we rented for our event! Based on their excellent website, I had a good idea of what we would need...a soundsystem for our music, a cordless microphone because it's hard to hear outside, a raised square platform for two people to stand on, a bouncehouse for the kiddos (bonus they had a castle shaped one for our Happily Ever After theme!), a dozen wooden benches to put on the riverside deck for seating, and chalkboard arrow signs showing the way. It only took 10 minutes in person, plus a deposit to get it all reserved. They called closer to my event to remind & assure that all was on schedule. They arrived with their professional truck 2 days before my event and delivered it all, showing me how everything worked. The written instructions for the boucehouse were helpful and it was easy-peezy to put it up (it also came with it's own tarp, stakes, and large cushiony cube to enter it easily). The helpful delivery guys gave me a quick tutorial on the soundsystem...that also was easy-peezy come showtime. (We just made a pandora playlist and played it through a cellphone, another person made a Spotify list and that was used after) The written instructions in the cordless microphone case made that process just as seamless (people could hear us just fine, even being able to speak over the music--hello karaoke later!) The benches were lovely to use during the ceremony, then transitioned easily to our eating tables, and then later around the firepit. All the rental prices were extremely reasonable and it just couldn't have been any easier. All we had to do was make sure the bouncehouse stayed dry! After our event, we left everything stacked safely in our driveway right next to the house, and they came and picked it up while we were at the airport seeing family off. Talk about convenient! If I ever have need to rent anything again, they're going to be my first call. Their website is extremely handy to see what they have! Thank you so much for making our special day that much more special. We couldn't have done it without you =)

We arrived very early about 1:30 in the afternoon but they were able to give us a room right away. The room is very nice and a good size. We appreciate that it had not been occupied for the last 48 hours. There is a very good sitting area Because of covid none of the services are available - fitness centre, pool or spa and there is no housekeeping service. The bed is very comfortable and good lighting on both sides of the bed is great. The bathroom also has good lighting. We find the soundproofing is not very good as we could hear a large group socializing near our room until 11:00 last night and this morning we could also hear a fair bit of noise early in the morning. We are in unit #103 and I would not recommend this unit if you're a light sleeper. We are very close to the ice machine and every time someone uses the machine it makes a horrendous racket. The hotel is also supposed to be air conditioned but I think they must have turned off the air conditioning at the front desk. We turned on the air conditioner last night and all the lights are on but the unit does not operate. This is the end of June. We are on the ground floor and opening the windows is not a good option. I would stay at Prestige again but I would be sure to ask if the air conditioning has been turned on and I would ask for a unit away from the ice machine.

No breakfast, but 2 Tim Horton's are not far. We enjoyed the workout room. They had a surprising array of equipment, all in good condition, and great music playing to work out by. Only things keeping it from five stars: they need to use hollow wall mounts on the towel holders and toilet paper holder to fasten them more securely to the wall; the door to our room had a strip along the bottom that was flapping off, and the chemical/cleaner smell in the room was almost overpowering when we first walked in (fortunately, that meant it had been cleaned). We opened the window and turned on the fan to air it out, and it was okay. All in all, a decent stay.

No one had entered the room during my absence. Nothing had been cleaned. There was no follow-up the next day. By Saturday morning, after another sleepless night with the window open just to breathe, I woke up with a pounding headache, congestion, and nausea. Still no call, no follow-up, and no management. On Sunday (departure day), I went back to the front desk. Aprit was on duty again. I told him nothing had been done, that I'd spent three nights in an uninhabitable room, and that I expected not to be charged. I asked for management. He passed me a card and told me to email manager, Lee Campbell. I insisted that I needed this rectified immediately and requested that he contact Lee for directives. He said he had contacted management at my request but had been instructed he was not permitted to act without approval. As franchise manager, could Lee Campbell, franchise manager, not provide approval with reasonable steps to rectify the situation during his call to Lee? I asked to speak to Lee. He said he was unavailable. Hmm. Even maintenance said, "We wouldn't want a guest charged for that," and admitted it was bad for everyone if a poor review came out. Aprit said I would be charged for the one room. I was charged for both, less one night. Unfortunately, management seems to operate under a different philosophy. To make matters worse, my daughter informed me in the morning that her room (326) had hair in the bed on the first night. She couldn't sleep in the sheets and instead laid bath towels across the bed. I called the next morning to request new bedding, which was eventually brought later that day -- but no guest should ever have to request clean sheets upon arrival. When my invoice arrived, one night had been deducted, with a note that read: "room smells like smoke." As though the smell, and the negligence behind it, lasted a single night instead of three. I later called and left a voicemail for the manager, Lee Campbell. He did not return my call. I wrote an email to manager Lee Campbell, and cc'd Wyndham customer care office. I received Lee Campbell's email response -- a completely fabricated recount that stated the problem was "corrected" and that I was "glad to have accepted the recleaned room." None of that happened. He went so far as to close his message with, "We hope you enjoy your next stay at the Days Inn Cranbrook." There will be no next stay. EVER. I was also contacted by Sherri from Wyndham's Presidential Customer Care Office, who was gracious, professional, and sincerely apologetic. She explained that because this particular property is a franchise, she could not personally issue a refund -- she was sorry to hear of my stay and that Wyndham would be intervening with the franchise -- that as a franchise the responsibility lies with Manager Lee Campbell to provide reimbursement. But we know his stance; dismissive, negligent and dishonest. Sherri offered me a complimentary one-night stay at any Wyndham property as a gesture of goodwill. It was unexpected and unnecessary on her part, but very kind and appreciated. It does not compensate for the money sent, nor hold Lee Campbell responsible for his inability to manage the property. How unfortunate for the Wyndham brand. Sherri however displayed empathy and class -- qualities entirely absent from the management at the Days Inn Cranbrook. Manager Lee Campbell has refused to take responsibility or ownership for the condition of his hotel, the lack of response from his staff, or the failure to provide a habitable room. The dishonesty of his written response compounds the issue, reflecting a disregard not just for guests, but for the Wyndham brand itself. This doesn't even begin to address the matter of the unsanitary sheets in my daughter's room, which required changing and resulted in her sleeping on towels the first night. For anyone considering staying at the Days Inn Cranbrook Conference Centre, simply put: DON't. Between the smoke-filled rooms, the dishonesty, the apathy, and the absence of accountability, this property is a disservice to its guests and to Wyndham's reputation. If this is how a Days Inn by Wyndham is managed, then the franchise system itself needs a closer look. I have never left a Google review before; however, not taking the time to warn others would be as negligent as the disregard I was shown as a paying guest. I do not expect to hear from Lee Campbell again; integrity and accountability seemed to have checked out long before I did, and customer care and honesty clearly have no place in his version of hospitality.

We did not get a good feel from her, she spoke to us like we were 2, the way she talked to (her?) kid was very similar; condescending and annoyed. We really didn't feel like we were anything but a pay check to her. This is fine, its a big business, but marriage is for life and both my fiancé and I had hoped in getting married in a small town as opposed to Calgary we would skirt the capitalistic nature of this. But we didn't. It was in fact worse. The store is a mish mash of what looks to be recycled dollar store items at 1000% mark up, thrown together designs from about 15 different styles... We weren't sure this was because of variety for brides, but the focus was all over the place with not much being too relevant to getting married. We did do a mini consultation, and were met with a lot of hesitation and vague answers about Andies questions about a wedding at the hill. We could not have felt more tiny at the suggestions there were other beautiful places in town to get married. Don't we get what we want? She did not say no, she was just vague and that set off a ton of alarms. We were staying in town for a week at one of the hotels on the hill, (nice but a little dated,) and we were in town for dinner at Kimberley's 'platzl' district the Stonefire Pizza, and we ran into her partner. He was intoxicated beyond all sense, and was like a ticking time bomb. Literally like he was about to lash out and attack us. This is crazy, and I feel ridiculous writing this, but we are in Kimberley again, and drove by this store only to see police out front of the Alpine Wedding and Events store, clearly trying to stop her enraged partner from entering. It was really a bad experience the first time we approached her and after seeing this debacle outside my (now wife) and I could not go on without at least putting out a warning to those who might be caught up in the spell of a wedding too, to think twice or use one of the other sort of local wedding planners in the kootenays.

This museum is fabulous…read more They have several cars from train sets on the tracks outside. A lot of these have been brought back to its original or as close as possible condition just using grant money, I understand, as it becomes available from the provincial government. One set of cars has now been named a "National Heritage" set and it is hoped a couple of other trains or the Royal Alex building receive that status soon as well. It then might make it easier for the museum to receive federal funding on a regular basis as most other museums do. Every time I go through the tour, I notice something different, something special. The staff do a good job in keeping them dustless for our benefit and the trains benefit and in protecting the cars as the tours go through. Guided tours through the cars are possible and are very interesting for the high school, adult range. The Museum is currently fundraising to finish off the rail shed and a miniature railroad (that was donated from Granville Island) set in the basement that all age kids would enjoy. The local HO club has also been trying to finish their display so as to have several miniature trains run along tracks in settings similar to around the southeast BC. One major item on their wish list I understand, is the funds to be able to construct a temperature-controlled, weather-controlled shed extending over all the cars and engines to fully keep all weather from deteriorating them any further - a very costly item. Once these trains are rusted through and can't be further restored, they are lost to our future as there aren't any other of these cars left. The Royal Alexandra is a beautiful hall with as many of the original parts as possible. She's now available for renting out for special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, meetings, etc. I've had several functions in here from AGMs, Christmas parties, dance, violin, and singing recitals, masquerade party, plus other activities. It's special to look at the detailing in the roof and columns. Downstairs at the shed is a quilt about different items about Cranbrook's past. There are also many pictures taken showing the birth, growth, people, activities, all around the Cranbrook-Fort Steel area that are very interesting to read about and view.
