This is our go-to place to take our Shiba, Scout to get groomed. The staff is so incredibly…read morefriendly here, and Scout never wants to leave this place when we come pick her up. She always leaves this place with an adorable little bandana and smelling so fresh and clean. I made the mistake of taking Scout to Petsmart before we started coming here, and not only did we get stuck with different groomers, but they weren't able to clip her nails. I just feel that if I'm going to a groomers, they should be able to clip her nails... not to mention the perfume sprayed is overbearing. I should also note that we took Scout Petsmart at least three times to get a proper assessment and of the 2/3 times they were unable to trim her nails. I did some research and took Scout to Pampered Pooch and despite us moving on the other side of SA, we still make the far drive over because that's how much we love coming here. Kate is so, so wonderful and always excitedly greets Scout when she comes here. Her nails are always nicely grind, and she's clean, trimmed and perfect! Pampered Pooch will be our forever groomer while we live in SA!

She takes very good care of my yorkie Rupert and he always comes back looking stylish and smelling amazing! The location and hours of operation are very convenient. Store Atmosphere: The store reminded me of every other pet store (i.e. petsmart, petco). Not…read morefilthy, not spotless, but all to be expected. Maybe if they brighten the store its better lighting or higher ceilings, consumers will not comment so much on the yuck feeling. I wasn't looking to move in the place, so it was to reasonable standard for me...and I am a couple steps from a germaphobe. (Manage your expectations) Staff: Day one, the employee unlocked the door (I was there before open, waiting, bc I knew what I wanted), and waved me in...didn't open the door, just waved me in...not the best customer service but not going to allow that to stop me. I let her know what I was there for, and she politely told me she would be over shortly to help. From there, I had great customer service from every employee I encountered. They aren't super knowledgeable, but they sell it well enough. Never purchase a pup without doing your own homework. They are in sales... Pup: My pup arrived 1 day prior to me going in and putting a deposit on him. He came home about 5 days in total, from being at the store. He is happy, healthy, and soo sweet. The purchase/aftercare: When you spend the amount of money that we did, you never want to feel like you are being taken advantage of, which we did not get that vibe...however the forms you sign make you feel as if the store is preparing for the worse to happen and trying to legally cover their behinds. (Again...out pup is happy and healthy...I just wanted to communicate how the buying process can make consumers feel) I did find the breeder, who is AKC registered, so that brought comfort. We identified a vet that he went to the day after we purchased him, and they confirmed his health, which was a second layer of comfort. I did not like the vet that Petland referred us to...the doc was knowledgeable, but the place was gross. We transitioned our pup to a higher quality for almost immediately, and wasted the remaining of what we purchased at the time we got our pup. Lessons Learned: - Buy your dog's needs from Amazon. - Ask what they are feeding the dog before so you can get it cheaper elsewhere (just get the kibble, the vet told us that mixing the dry/wet/fresh food together is too much. That's what the store was doing) - I think we got a good pup bc they were not in the facility long, reduced exposure to illness (kennel cough) Will I buy another from Petland...yes & no. Yes, bc the experience was good. No, because it was too expensive. Go directly to the AKC website and drill down to their sales pages. The cost of shipping or picking up a pup will still be less than purchasing from the store.

Good store! They have lots of selection for pet necessities and lots of affordable pets. Every time…read moreI have visited the pet store the staff is kind and attentive to my needs. It seems like they really care for the animals while they are there. I was here for about 20 minutes and I noticed the employees just loving the animals at least 4 different occasions. It was refreshing to see for sure!

First I have to say that there is great staff at this location. Not only do they seem like they…read morereally like dogs but they are great with us humans as well. I have a unique circumstance where my son plays football for UTSA and travels every weekend even for home games. He has two dogs who needed to board while he is away. Lucy's has gives wonderful customer service in that we have had several unique situations to work around and they found solutions when I didn't even know what to do. I love the play areas with water features and yes I'm a video watching junkie on the web cams. It's fun to watch the pups play and the staff is attentive to those that get a little rowdy by just using their body to walk between in a calm manner. I see staff giving a pet or hug or engaging them in some play. There can be a lot of dogs in there and I haven't seen a real scuffle yet. They do a great job monitoring and intervening before any pup gets to rowdy. Prices are decent and multiple dog as well as police, fire, and military discounts. Our pups come home fed and socialized and are happy when we take them to drop off. Traveling Tails vet is next door and has been super helpful in a pinch when we needed a booster shot. We will be having our pups here for the season, Birds Up!

The facility is large, clean, and inviting, and its online customer service is outstanding…read more However, there were too many dogs, and I felt like the greeting and tour were rushed. I understand there is limited staff, and I realize they have to turn their attention to other customers and tasks, but I would have liked to watch our dog more through the back windows before committing to leaving her there for the day. I'm guessing there were between 70 and 100 dogs in the play area, and most seemed well-adjusted and content. However, it seemed a bit much, and I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving our dog there. She loves playing but could not connect with any specific dog and was overwhelmed by the many dogs showing interest in her. We watched for at most 10 minutes, and the whole time, she was looking to hide, running from the other dogs with her tail between her legs. The staff was present, monitoring behavior and cleaning up, so the issue for me is the number of dogs, not the staff. I asked if there was a maximum number of dogs they allowed, and without a yes or no, I was told the number of kennels they had, which was over 250. The kennels can hold more than one dog at a time, so it's feasible that 300 dogs could be there if all the kennels were full. The kennels are in a climate-controlled warehouse-type area with individual chain-link "suites" and the regular areas. The difference is a little more square footage, and a webcam comes with the suite. I'd summarize this place as the big box store of doggy daycares where you'll get everything you need, but not necessarily the best experience for the pet. This review is based on my personal experience. I am not seeking a refund, to be made whole again, or for changes to be made. It is simply informative.
