Terrible service. I came in alone and still had to ask multiple times just to get a server to come to my table. It took far too long to even place an order. Over 45 minutes total to even order, which is unacceptable. When my food finally arrived, it came without bread, so I couldn't even eat it. I then had to wait again for the bread and my wine. To top it off, when I asked for a to-go container, I was told they don't have any and was offered baggies instead. That's pretty unbelievable. Overall, slow, inattentive, and frustrating service. I won't be back. read more

Great flights of wine, located near old downtown. Quick service. Wine specialist explains each one of the flights, etc. Reality check: you would be wise to buy at your nearby Total Wines, rather than pay overhead in a touristy spot. Ambiance: 70%. read more

I have been a Sheehan wine club member since it almost began. I think Sean and Laurie call me their oldest member. That may be both by age and length of membership! I rarely drink anything besides Sheehan wine. I really like the fact that Sean doesn't use any more sulfites than absolutely necessary so it is much healthier. I started out only liking sweet wines Ceillo Dulce was my fave. Then I had COVID and my taste buds changed. Now dry. Ollphiest is my favorite. Barbara was a fave when Sean had it. Anyway great wine, great people, great family! Love them all! I introduce a lot of people yo Sheehan winery! They always treat me well! read more

It was my first visit to this wine tasting room. There was a large group on the patio in front of the building where the tastings are held. They were having a grand time. As I walked into the tasting room area, which is also where the wine is produced, I was greeted very warmly by Sean the owner. The next to greet me was Lori. I got seated and took a picture or two while I waited for my group of four to arrive. Once our tasting comments both Lori and a lovely young woman by the name of Lyric both served our wine offerings. They brought us a cheese and cracker platter gratis. We were also furnished with a list of about 15 different wines. This was a formal organized type of tasting. In the future, they will begin charging I believe $10 for tasting for non-members, but currently the tastings are actually free. Most of the wineries in Albuquerque and Corrales charge for tastings and sometimes they give you a credit towards purchases. The model here I think works too since everyone in our our party purchase a minimum of two bottles of wine. There was no push we didn't feel pressured. In fact, Lori lyric and Sean were delightful and provided so much information to us that we just felt excited about making our wine purchases. We were there in a very beautiful Sunday afternoon and it was very pleasing to sit in this space and just enjoy some wine and cheese and learn a little bit about their offerings. read more

Amazing wine. Love this winery. Friendly, not pretentious. Always a good time! This time around we went as part of yelp elites wine picking event. Great time. The owner is super sweet and humble, and very hands on at the winery. read more

If you are in Old Town you have to stop by the Sheehan tasting room in Old Town. Their wine is divine and my favorite in New Mexico. You can tell that it is produced by love and dedication to quality. You can do a tasting of several wines and decide on your favorite. Then order a glass of your favorite and sit inside or in their outdoor patio. If you are hungry they don't serve food but you can order bbq from Fat T's which is located in the same courtyard. read more

They held a grape picking event with YELP Elites. Grapes from a one acre vineyard were picked on Saturday. In two years, the fruit of these efforts will be bottled. There was a lovely gathering of YELPers and some great wine tasting. M'Tucci's provided a tasty crudités platter and yummy cookies. We learned about the history of this young award winning vineyard. We wish them continued success read more

I love visiting Sheehan Winery. I went with some friends recently for a small group, socially distanced tasting. I needed my wine fix! They do a great job explaining the origins and processing of the various wines, and the wine club is a great deal! Sheehan offers many varieties, including quite a few reds, whites, roses, and even a few port and dessert wines. Along with the informative tasting discussion, each tasting includes a plate of palate cleansers such as crackers, cheese cubes, Apple slices, water, etc. My favorite wines are slainte (mild, fruity red) and two whites, Malvasia Bianca and Vidal Blanc. I would include a photo, but I already gave away or finished my wine. Time for another tasting! read more

Sheehan Winery - Wine Tasting Room Near Me - Albuquerque, New Mexico

When we were first invited to join some friends for a wine tasting, I kept trying to picture it nestled in the south valley. We arrived at the address listed in my invite. Behind the home of the Sheehan's is their quaint little wine tasting headquarters. People began strolling in and they had a growing crowd. Everyone picked a glass from the tables and the pouring began. Each person is given a list of the wines that will be served. Both red and white. Sean makes this whole experience a joy! His passion for the wine making process alone is simply magnificent. He has such wonderful incite and the way he describes each wine and the making tops off the experience. We will be back for sure! Needless to say we brought a few bottles home and enjoyed one over the weekend with our Valentine dinner. read more

This place is local. It doesn't look like much driving past it on the street, but they have a wine tasting area set up in the backyard and indoor storage for their wines and tasting. They've been doing tastings every weekend and the booking sure goes fast (they have half hour slots, but we probably spent close to 2 hours there). They gave us a tray of 4 cheeses - the Dubliner (like a sharp cheddar), Blarney Castle (gouda-style cheese from Ireland), Merlot Bellavitano (rich, creamy cheese with berry and plum notes of merlot), and a Havarti. We were able to try close to 16 wines (small portions, don't worry) ranging from dry to sweet. Wasn't a huge fan of the dry, but that's just personal preference. We ended up leaving with one of their "Cielo Dulce" , a 70% Riesling brand with hints of orange and honey. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. If you want, you can join the wine club and get to try 3 wines per quarter at 20% off. They said they will be opening a tasting room in Old Town later this year that will be free to wine club members. 2021 #48 read more

Sheehan Winery - Wine Tasting Room Near Me - Albuquerque, New Mexico

If you're a local, you already know this, but plenty of visitors on the lookout for wineries may not be aware that a) New Mexico owns a strong narrative in the history of winemaking in America and b) our palate is anything but refined. The vast majority of wineries in this state produce wines that please the masses: overly sweet, syrupy blah, and yeah, you'll even find a few styles that attempt to infuse chile peppers into the mix, Lawd, have mercy. Sheehan Winery is one of just a handful that truly strive to elevate the game, but no worries, dessert wine fan, they have something for you, too. The varietals Sean Sheehan plucks run the absolute gamut, from dark reds with teeth-staining dimension to candy cane crowd pleasers, and everything in between. But let me swirl this review a bit and give you the true legs and nose of this winery: it's #NewMexicoTrue. Located in the acequia and cottonwood strewn south valley of Albuquerque, the winery is on Sean's personal property, and a visit to one of his scheduled tastings is like sitting in someone's backyard, sippin' and enjoying the Land of Mañana, only the guy who's pouring happens to brim with enthusiasm and an itch to educate. Sean is friendly, knowledgeable and anxious to describe what it is you're tasting, and how it was made. This place is as legit as wine experiences get around here, no pretensions, promise. read more

Just received my case of Sheehan wine! Sean is my favorite local vendor. I love going to wine tastings in his backyard and I love his wine! I ordered a case since he can't have any tastings right now and it was delivered to my house the same day free of charge. What service and great wine! Sheehan Winery - Stocked for the holidays. Best wine membership in town! - Wine Tasting Room Near Me - Albuquerque, New Mexico

Very cool experience! I have some grapes growing in my backyard and I would harvest them every year but this was even more fun!

This is my third visit to Sheehan; the first was a Yelp event, the second a tasting pre-Covid, and today's a tasting mid-Covid. The tastings are free and you sign up for a private time slot for their web site; I didn't count but we tasted roughly 15 wines? We booked a time for three of us, and I called ahead and asked if they minded setting us up outside; they kindly accommodated. (I'm camp "don't take the mask off indoors," but you can do the tasting inside if you're cool with that.) We all ended up buying a bottle or two (which you should definitely do, their wines are great and they have something for everyone. I love their sweet whites, especially the Riesling.) The people are lovely, the wines are great, and it was a rare fun and also covid-safe experience during this very weird year. Great place for a small, distanced gathering and also, get your holiday wine figured out while you're at it. They truly love what they are doing and it's evident in the wine and the experience you'll have there. Love this winery! read more

This is simply my favorite winery and Sean Sheehan is the best wine maker in New Mexico. One of the things I love about the tastings in the south valley is that Sean teaches You about how the wine is made, what grapes are used, the differences in processing a cabernet from a syrah or chardonnay, etc. I love supporting local entrepreneurs. A few of us actually participated in the grape picking out at the Bosque Farms vineyard in September. He doesn't charge for his tastings...quite unusual for vineyards in this day and age. He also makes most of his wine available for tasting. We sampled over 12 selections. Yes it does cost more than 3 buck chuck but it also tastes superior. Sean gives great deals when You buy a case, 12 bottles...4 bottles free this last weekend...one free with 6. They serve crackers, cheese & fruit. The ambiance is good. Bonnie, his proud Mama, is a delight as well. read more

Very distinctively delicious wine offering and a family feel winery that employs caring attentive staff.

An incredibly special day with my fellow Yelpers and Sean Sheehan of Sheehan Winery...wow guys, the sophistication, depth and complexity of their varietals are phenomenal. With Sean's biology/chemistry background and undeniable knowledge of the unique growing conditions of New Mexican soil & climate, coupled with his fiery passion & extensive experience, it's no surprise that their Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chambourcin are award winning. Visit their tasting room and taste for yourself (Taos peeps: you can grab a glass/bottle @ El Monte Sagrado!) I favored the 2015 Chambourcin, and the 2014 Grand Reserve Cabernet...that reserve was perfection, can't wait to bring my husband to the tasting room, for Sean's stories as much as the wine! (and a note on the sweet wines: The Cielo Dulce, a Riesling/Gewurztraminer blend and one of their top selling wines, is so delish...you can truly taste hints of mandarin orange and honey! I also favored the Sweet Rose 2014 Coreil, so refreshing and vibrant, hints of watermelon, strawberry, rose petal....it's a party for your sensibilities!) Sean's the Heisenberg of New Mexico wines, and if you want the high grade, you gotsta visit Sheehan Winery. read more

We did wine tasting at Sheehan's newly opened location in old town. They are located near the old basket shop. This is going to be an up and coming place. The Sheehan wine is fabulous. My favorite is the Cabernet grand reserve. I'm a red wine drinker so that factors into this decision. I recommend this business to everyone. read more

This is a cool little local winery. The interesting thing is that there is not a tasting room you can go by and sample. I am not a fan of Sheehan wines, but of Sheehan himself he is a very likable guy. Firstly, the wines are very expensive for the quality. We found all the wines bitter at the front of our palate and no finish at the end. I could be much more specific, but I think it is wonderful that Sheehan has a faithful following because everyone should drink what they enjoy no matter what anyone else thinks. Hopefully we will meet him again sometime and have a more in-depth conversation on the subject of wine. read more

Our favorite winery in NM. Been coming out to the winery for 5 years and have watched this outfit improve every year. Love the Pinot Gris, nice nose, not too dry not too sweet. This wine is very drinkable, with or without food. Our other favorite is the reserve Cabernet. For a sweeter palette, try Cielo Dulce or Dana's Sweet Red. The servers are knowledgeable and very sweet at Sean's Vineyard location on Ciero Vista. Autumn and Anne were awesome. read more

Enjoyed an afternoon at their Bosque Farms location (grapes only and private residence) Sean showed us some of the different styles of grapes being grown at that location. They grow grapes at this location, South Valley, Las Cruces and Corrales. When tasting the wines, White and Red, you could taste the different flavors from the different areas the grapes were grown in. Very soft, delicate styles which isn't normal to the New Mexico wines out there. The Chambourcin was our favorite, very much a Pinot Noir. Soft, beautiful flavor. Sheehan Winery - So many delicious, soft and elegant wines. Real treat to normal New Mexico styles of wines we are use too. - Wine Tasting Room Near Me - Albuquerque, New Mexico

Another enjoyable tasting, my second at this local, backyard winery! The wines, like Sean Sheehan himself, are enjoyable and approachable. You do not need to be a wine snob to enjoy this wine! Sheehan Wines consistently walk away with medals and awards, including Best of New Mexico. Sean Sheehan had years in the biz before deciding to launch his own label a few years ago, starting with a vineyard on family land in Bosque Farms. He's expanded with vineyards in Corrales and the South Valley as well and is now up to 27 wines. There's something for everyone! Tastings occur every few weeks at the backyard winery with occasional additional events such as talks at the Sheehan vineyards. read more

I love Sean and his family and even staff! Everyone is so kind and fun. This was my first time at a "covid" tasting, but didn't feel unsafe at all and was still welcomed as if I was family. Sean really does have the wine down to a science. I enjoy all of it! The sweet wines are not my favorite from here, but they don't make you cringe either. All the dry wines, whether white or red are my favorite. Currently, I am obsessed with the dry rose. I am so glad I can find all his wines at my local grocery! Definitely attend one of these weekend wine tastings and check the new flavors. read more

I don't claim to be any kind of expert on wine but I do know what I like and Sheehan Winery hits the mark on several levels. We had an opportunity to meet the small team that makes this winery happen. Hats off to their accomplishment but first comes the wine. I'll usually go for a Cabernet but there's something special about their Chambourcin. The Grand Reserve Cabernet was a close second among the non-sweet options. The bottles are individually numbered and topped with wax by hand so these bottles offer something special if you're looking for a nice gift. The owner, Sean Sheehan, combines his scientific education with over 10 years of experience to the art of growing these grapes in New Mexico. There are many specific steps from end to end in making a good bottle of NM wine and Sean embraces the process. I respected his matter of fact explanation of what it takes and how he pretty much says, if I'm going to do this, I'm going to do it right. Their efforts have paid off because they're selling out. Sean also seems quite content making the best quality wine he can, without a desire to take over the world or being the next big seller at a major distributor. Someone asked him about growing their own grapes and he quickly offered to share any information he could. That's the kind of culture and knowledge sharing that I also love about Albuquerque's local beer scene. It's all about a love of the craft. Fun fact (which you probably already know). It takes surprisingly little water to grow these grapes. They always seemed so juice oriented, I would've expected the opposite. That's eco-friendly crop right there. read more

Sheehan has the best wines, hands down. You will not be disappointed. Staff are always friendly and knowledgeable.

Amazing wine and wine release parties they host here. This winery has won a huge number of awards recently and is well deserving because their wines are incredible. Ever so slightly tucked away in Albuquerque's Old Town square (ye olde 'Basket Shop') is local Sheehan Winery's new tasting room. The renovated space is inviting and warm, and so are the servers, Trish and Ann. They are fun, friendly, knowledgeable, conversational, and professional. Trish is a lifetime resident of ABQ and has many other places of interest to recommend if you're from out of town. And the wines are spectacular, as usual. I'm a sweet wine drinker, and I loved the Cielo Dulce (white) and the Danza del Fuego (red) most of all during my visit. Very affordable, too! I'll be back soon! read more

My favorite thing about Sheehan Winery isn't the wine (although it is delicious!) My favorite thing about Sheehan Winery is Sean Sheehan himself. He is friendly, welcoming, and crazy passionate about winemaking. If you ask him any question about the process, the grapes, local wine, even the chemistry of New Mexico's soil, you will get a detailed, intelligent answer. I love feeling like I know the wine I'm drinking! I first met Sean through a Yelp event sometime last spring, and have since seen him at more Yelp Events, local wine festivals, and at several of the tastings he does in his own backyard (if you're not on his email list/facebook page yet, you are missing out, friend!) I'm not a wine expert, but I do love wine, and I love to learn! Whenever I pop open a bottle of the Chambourcin (my favorite, the reserve of which recently won Best Wine in NM!) I really enjoy the fact that I know the person who made it - and how it was made! My best friend Hannah and I are both huge fans - I bought her a bottle of Chambi for her birthday and she loved it! I've brought other friends to some of Sean's events, and they feel the same about Sheehan Winery. It's local, it's real, and it's delicious! This is my favorite winery. Enough said! read more

Always am enjoyable when Sheehan Winery is in the mix. Sean is so passionate about sharing the entire wine making process that his enthusiasm is absolutely contagious! He is so generous and welcomes people to join to participate and learn the incredible knowledge he has to share! The most wonderful experience for me is tasting the unique blends and understanding how this guy does it. I will tell you that the Pinot Gris is crisp and delightful. The Chardonnay is not too "oaky" perfect blend. The reds.....well that is a tough decision each is unique and worth buying a bottle... or two! The explanation is so anyone can comprehend this awesome transition from fruit to wine! If you are able to, schedule a time visit Sheehan Winery or enjoy their wines at the many different festivals around the state. Cheers! read more
