This has been in old town for awhile but I had never bee. They make their own syrup which is a bonus. Service was great even though I only saw one person. The wood floors and the variety of seating made this a great place for groups or to sit alone or a couple friends. Nice views too. read more

Rented an Airbnb within walking distance to Old Town to explore the shops and atmosphere! We ended up here pretty quickly after arriving and came back a second time later in the week! We were mostly interested in trying the Raspberry Wheat as we have a similar one near our hometown in Minneapolis that we LOVE! This one was equally delicious and could compete! They have a cool wrap around deck outside. We went in February, but as Minnesotans we chose to stand outside at a table! read more

Love the modern sleek decor! We walked in and the place, ambiance and the staff was so inviting. We ordered our cocktail at the bar and took in the view of the beautiful church. I had the maple old fashioned which had a nice spicy note to it combined with a sweet smoky maple flavor. We came by on a Sunday afternoon and they had a live band playing country music. That was unexpected and enjoyable! I loved it and can't wait to come back. read more

First off, be aware this place no longer serves beer from Downshift brewing in Ruidoso. It's just a collection of standard ABQ tap handles from places like Bosque, La Cumbre, etc. It's a neat space with a lot of live plants and fun decor. It has AC and not swamp cooling so it's nice and cool on a hot day. Our issue with this place was the price - $8 and up for a 16oz pint, plus a credit card surcharge when you pay. Completely out of touch pricing, you can get these pints nearly anywhere else for a good amount less. Unfortunately we won't be back. read more

Beautiful location--upstairs so there is a great wrap around porch on that level where you can sit with your drink and watch everything going on in Old Town. The bartender was up-beat and friendly. It was daytime so we ordered inside then picked a table on the porch/deck. Self-service water was helpful :) We tried a flight of 4 so we could decide what we wanted for a full pour. I absolutely loved the watermelon cider--light, refreshing, not too sweet and not to heavy on the watermelon. Perfect! My husband enjoyed the IPA's...but I do want to note that there were other choices besides IPAs. Upon arrival we were hoping to get some light food to share. Then we saw the snack choices were limited and almost passed completely. BUT we decided to try the NM Sunset Popcorn...so glad we did! It was delicious and the perfect accompaniment. We finished the container :) All in all a great place to stop for a little refreshment on a beautiful Spring day. read more

This was my first time trying Downshift and it was.....ok. I'm not too sure how I feel about it yet so I think I need another visit or 2 to decide if I like it or not. PROS- *Beautiful space with lots of seating. *People of all ages were hanging out getting drinks *So many local products! I appreciated seeing Leaf&Hive, Tellers, Nickel, etc. *Not just beer so anyone could find something to drink CONS- *Service . Sat at the bar and it took 20 minutes to get a drink order in then we were never checked on again. Once we saw our bartender leave without saying anything (about an hour after we were served our drinks) we had to stand in line to close our tab. * House beer was just ok. Got a flight and nothing was memorable. *Pricey. The location is great (and probably costly) but a flight of 4 2oz pours and one non-downshift beer on tap was $18. Overall, this place is ok. It's beautiful and a nice place to hang out but the beer itself was lackluster. read more

We were in Old Town on a weekday and decided to stop at Downshift for some "refreshment" The beer selection is decent. I had a prickly pear margarita and it was delicious! No food here. We sat out on the balcony and watched the people in the area. There were two guys playing music in the courtyard (live music is always a plus for us!) We enjoyed the visit here. read more

Always passed by this place during the day, but never checked it out. We happened to be in old town on a Friday night and you could hear the music coming from inside this spot. We walked in and the place was packed. We had a blast! The beers were delicious, the live music was fantastic, and the service was very friendly. Plenty of seating and people willing to share their tables. During the day it seems like a tourist hangout, but at night the crowd seemed very mixed with some regulars. read more

This is a very nice brewery located in the heart of downtown Albuquerue. Located on the second level, the seating outside overlooks the stunning Sandia Mountains and the historic San Felipe de Neri Church! As an attendee for a Yelp sponsored event, I was treated well. Came for the first time for a Yelp elite event, treated to a drink, opted for one of my favorites, the Paloma. They use La Reforma agave and it's probably one of the best Palomas I've had, which is a lot. They garnish with a beautiful dried grapefruit slice which just added that extra little bit to an already delicious drink. I've heard good things about this brewery and had been meaning to try it, will definitely try their beer next time. Fiancée liked her beer. Decor is amazing, very impressed by the mural and overall vibe of this little place in Old Town. Great addition, you can play games provided there as well as order food like Grubhub to there. We sat outside which was perfect, they've repurposed barrels as tables which is very cute. Give it a try if you're in Old town! read more

Great spot for an afternoon drink! In the heart of Old Town, you can enjoy a drink while looking out at the plaza (or cozied up inside on one of their lush couches in a very chic, plant filled space). One of the best Espresso Martini's I've had, served up by friendly staff. 5 read more

Delicious and unique cocktails, and they have their own beers, other local beers, and wine from the winery down below. Also there's kombucha for those that don't drink alcohol. The ambiance indoors and out on the second floor patio are so nice and great for a good weather day or evening happy hour. You overlook the main Old Town Church and square for fabulous people watching. Also can get tasty Cornivore popcorn or a charcuterie board to snack on. The one drawback is it's Old Town prices. read more

Great food and amazing views by the river! Pizza and beers were great. The wings were delicious as well.

It gets 2 stars only because of its location. It has great views of Old Town Albuquerque When we first arrived we were told that closing time was 9:00 pm. Great!!! We asked family to meet us here. First beer we asked for was not available. When we asked for a Marble brewery beer (not a DownShift beer) it was met with a shrug and a frown from (who we think is) the manager. Music was extremely loud and had to ask for it to be turned down so that we could you of have a conversation at our table. At 7:15, the gentleman, who we believe was the manager, started stacking (slamming) chairs on the tables. About 10 minutes later he told us it was "last call". This has to be one of the rudest experience we have ever encountered. We were so excited to try out this new place (for us) in Albuquerque; unfortunately, it left us extremely disappointed. read more

Note that a majority of the 5 star reviews are from "Yelp Elite" (lol) who apparently attended a freebie event at this place. Downshift is the very definition of mediocre. $8 beers (pints!) that may pass muster in Ruidoso but are well below average in Albuquerque compared to other breweries. Unmemorable and bland beers. As far as other menu options go, our friend made the mistake of ordering a bramble-ish cocktail that tasted like Kool-Aid. The space itself is sterile and decorated like someone's finished basement. Poor, disinterested service. Giving them one star for having the good sense to sell Cornivore popcorn and for the nice balcony seating. I really, really didn't enjoy it here. If you're in the area just make the 5 minute drive to a stellar brewery like Gravity Bound. Way easier to find parking too. read more

If there is one word that describes this place from the second you walk in the door it's REFRESHING ! I was shopping the Old Town on a Sunday after noon and in hunt for a refreshing Margarita I stumbled upon this beautiful gem, the decor is clean and calming , the staff is friendly and welcoming. They have an awesome beer selection and was able to taste a spicy margarita that went down a little too smooth because I know I could drink 10 of these delicious concoctions before trying to roll down the stairs.
