SLEEK AND WELCOMING DECOR We drove straight out. Thankfully, it was early enough in the day so we easily got a spot on Flagler Ave. and walked over. What a cute place! There was one small table outside with adorable mosaics on the table and seats. It was pretty small and honestly we were too hot to sit there today but it is an option. There is more plentiful seating inside the modernly designed interior. The decor was clean and beautiful. The counters are grey and white granit(?) with beautiful pottery adorning the white shelving on one side along with some attractive paintings on the same wall. Turns out the pottery and paintings are by artistic individuals with autism. The artist who makes the pottery is also the owner's daughter, Katherine aka Kat, thus the name of the cafe. She is the Kat who also plays harp for guests if you are lucky enough to be there then. We unfortunately missed Kat but thoroughly enjoyed being waited on by Donna behind the counter! She knew her stuff and was able to guide us through the ordering of our food and drink. I enjoyed my cold brew with crème and hazelnut AND coffee ice cubes-so no watering down of the coffee!

There was a large group in front of us that kept having people join it as they waited, not Lumas fault, but having more than one person taking orders could have helped the wait time. Coffee was okay. I felt like they used too heavy of a roast for my strawberries and cream drink. Ordered the breakfast bowl and the breakfast platter. Both were bland. No avocado with the platter and the bacon seemed like the thin microwaveable bacon strips. Potatoes and eggs were bland. Toast was dry and there were not condiments (ketchup, salt, pepper, butter). For $19 for each entree, the food should have been better. Also they charge you to use your debit card instead of cash. There is no signage stating such anywhere or mention. I happened to just catch it while checking out.

That said, the food matches up with outstanding food experience in taste, presentation and overall culinary offerings!! I missed photos of our starters; Soup of the Day - Crab and Corn Chowder and Potato Latke. The chowder had great flavor and plenty of vegetables and crab with each bite. The base was thinner than a traditional chowder but still very delicious. Latkes were good but I saw the foie gras go to another table and wish we had tried that instead. All of the entrees were delicious. Filet was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The Tile fish was beautifully prepared. Very light and flavorful with the fennel salad and bean cassoulet. The winner was the House-made gnocchi. Deep in flavors and the gnocchi melted in your mouth. Because they were made with flour (vs potato), they were like pillows of goodness on a plate. We were tapped out...and then we looked at the dessert menu. Banana pudding caught our attention and it did not disappoint. Beautiful layering of banana jam (think banana foster), pudding, wafers and whip cream. Great end to the meal! We will be back...maybe even twice on trip!

The three girls that were working were so loud talking amongst each other was over stimulating I couldn't even concentrate to place my order. Then they turned on music and began to sing. I enjoy music as much as the next person. I'd rather of heard alley cats than what I was experiencing today. It's very echoing inside. Not the previous pleasant calming experiences as before. Had to leave and eat in my car instead of enjoying the prior experience. Maybe the new owner could figure something out. The product was still really good though. Update: Wow I drove up the street to eat my bowl in peace, a police officer came up to me and said there was a call about a suspicious person (meaning me) because I walked back inside after I received my order to look at the menu to make sure it was correct because of the ruckus and walked back out. Update again: I didn't say the music was on while ordering that came on after the fact. I was going to sit and enjoy my bowl but the music was too loud. There wasn't anyone else but myself in there when I was ordering. The employee girls were loud amongst themselves. The customers you mentioned were there when I walked back in to check the menu and I walked back outside. Nothing suspicious about that. You've just lost a customer and who knows word of mouth is a good or bad thing. But hey your girls can do no wrong. Security cameras? It's been awhile so I stopped in this morning on the way to the beach with my little girl. Ambiance was a bit awkward and rushed today, even though there was barely anyone inside. I ordered a smoothie and a few of the little treats, those are normally my favorite. The smoothie tasted good and I shared it was my little girl. The treats were okay. The peanut butter and the express yo self both tasted pretty fresh. The brownie batter had a really sour flavor. I will have to give this place another try in the future, something was definitely off today.
