Had a very positive experience despite the fact that I had to have a root canal. The staff is incredibly kind and makes an effort to put you at ease. The procedure was way easier than I had expected. I was in and out in an hour. I felt like they took my questions and concerns seriously. They got insurance info before my visit so cost was clearly explained. The woman who went over the costs was an absolute delight as was Millie. Don't want to have to go back but if I need a root canal, I'd trust them again. read more

Efficient and friendly, Doctor Sheats as well as his staff. I read the previous reviews and was determined to see first hand the 'whistling doctor.' I totally enjoyed his joyful demeanor, including his whistling and gentle humor, as he worked. He explained the procedure beforehand and answered any questions I had. He's the kind of doctor to say, "Thanks again, Doctor," as you are leaving his office. Special thanks to his assistants Millie and Carmen. read more

Friendly and professional staff. My Root Canal was a breeze. They provided a step by step of the process and included a post procedure packet and a follow-up text. Very thorough, IMO. read more

I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment but wasn't seen until 45 minutes after my appointment. Then after getting Xrays, they shuttled me back to the front desk and asked for payment for the entire procedure upfront or they wouldn't do the work. If that's their policy that's fine but in the weeks before my appointment I'd received three calls about my insurance & all asking the same questions. They never gave me any information and said they'd "figure it out." Although the doctor did the procedure well, she seemed over-booked and I sat far too long in the chair not knowing what would happen next. read more

I have been going to Dr. Sheats and family for a few years and I am very much satisfied with the care and the service that I received everyone in the office are very nice to me. I would recommend anyone to them they make you feel comfortable. Thanks! Drs.Sheats and family and staff read more

My daughter had an appointment there (04/01/25) and she didn't catch the name of the doctor who "took care" of her, but care is not even the word I would use to describe the way she was treated. When your daughter tells you she left an office crying because of the way DOCTORS "professionals" spoke to her and treated her, is when I would never recommend a place to another person again. Do better! They don't deserve the 1 star they're getting. read more

I have heard good things about Sheats, and I would like to give them a good review but I cannot get them to answer their phones or even reply back to an online patient referral form I filled out weeks ago. They were a referral from my dentist - I have had to go back and get another one. read more

I highly recommend Sheats Endodontic Group for any type of restoration/root canal services!! Due to a previous failed root canal, I was very apprehensive about getting a second one. I shared with Dr. Sheats (Jay) and his team that I had a bit of anxiety and EVERYONE from the front staff to the dental hygienist made sure I was 100% comfortable before and during the procedure. There was NO PAIN at all!! I've visited multiple offices before making my decision and I'm glad I did. Thank you all so much!! read more

These people are rude, arrogant, condescending and they discriminate against their patients! I waited for over two and a half hours. They had issues with my providers and took it out on me. Lots of people who came after me were seen before me. In fact they made sure I was the last person there to be seen by the Dr. who whistled maniacally and loudly the whole time I was there. The staff eluded to how strict the office managers (The Drs Wife and Mother) were to work with. The receptionist was training a new person and I was just feet away and couldn't help but overhear every word. I truly felt sorry for the woman she was training! I wouldn't recommend this place to ANYONE ANYWHERE. I plan to file a grievance/complaint with my providers read more

I'm a previous patient who has since left Nashville. It's been a few years since I had a root canal but I wanted to leave a review about how amazing their work is. I had no pain and I was terrified. They made the experience way better than I expected. I'm leaving this review because since leaving Nashville I've had 3 dentists comment on how perfect the root canal is. They literally pause on that section of xrays and say "wow." These guys are phenomenal. read more

Dr Sheats and his staff are the best! They are friendly and professional. In the past 25 years, I've had at least 3 root canals and a couple crowns done there. They're top notch and I highly recommend them! Thank you Dr. Jan-Nee! read more

I needed to have an emergency root canal a few months ago after experiencing a sudden onset of unbearable pain. After calling several clinics on a Friday afternoon, this clinic was the only one that could accommodate me with a same day appointment. The office was clean and the staff was very professional. The cost was reasonable considering all the steps it takes to complete a root canal on a molar. I was in so much pain that I would have paid anything to stop the pain from that tooth. Also, the fact that they were able to see me the same day was a huge plus for me. I'm appreciative and thankful that I was able to be seen the same day and had the procedure completed the same day. When I followed up with my general dentist for the permanent filling he stated that my root canal looked good and that he was pleased that they had not damaged the new crown that was on that tooth. I would recommend them any day. No one should expect to see a specialist of any kind and feel it should be inexpensive. read more

I was sent to Sheats Endodontic Group to see if a tooth could be saved due to a problem with a previous root canal. Staff and doctor were on time, immediate x-rays and thorough explanation of what I needed to have done. Discussed insurance, made payment and was told my root canal would be done today! I was in shock, couldn't believe it and very anxious, but glad to get it done and in one visit. To my surprise, staff did not rush, allowed me plenty of time to get numb, listened to my needs when I felt a little uncomfortable and completed everything in 2 hours. Staff explained how to take medications, said they would check on me and to follow up with my dentist. I was very pleased with all services and if I need another root canal, I definitely will go back and see this Endodontic Group! read more

The dentist, Dr Sheats did my root canal at Smile Dentistry in Murfreesboro, TN. He was not only heavy-handed but caused me to have extreme discomfort and pain for months after this procedure. I went to another dentist for another opinion and found that he missed a 3rd root which was causing the sensitivity in the area. I wrote and called Smile Dentistry to see how they can make this right- all they said was to have the same dentist redo the work. How can I trust and go back to a dentist who botched the job the first time? Unbelievable. I am still paying for the root canal they did. I will just have to pay another dentist to redo the job he didnt do right. I do not recommend going to this dentist or Smile Dentistry. read more

I am scared to death to go to "any" dentist or dentist specialty. When i walked into this office to have a root canal, I was stricken with Anxiety and my eyes big as silver dollars. The front desk receptionist was an angel. her voice so soft and inviting. She really put me at ease. Their were 2 techs; one very well seasoned and the other much younger but very knowledgeable and pleasant. Her patience with a tech trainee was that of JOB. The provider has caring hands and handled me gently but did a very good job. I didnt sit and wait on her between xrays she was there immediately after the tech finished. I have nothing but goodness to speak about this office. Thank Yawll so much!!! read more

I was treated as if I was a check and not a person. I understand that we're all in the business to make money but that was very clear, I have money but please treat me like a person before we get to the money. I came in to have root canal work done and after I paid an ungodly amount for the service I was one of many having procedures done at the same time. Felt like a piece of cattle rather than a patient. I mean really? You're bouncing back and forth doing procedures!!!. No bedside manner at all. After paying almost 2k cash for one tooth I would expect a little curtesy. Receptionist was nice and the hygienist was nice but that is where the buck stopped. I was treated more like a nuisance and check than anything. Never felt this way before. Root is not dead after the canal. Have to see if I can go back and get this taken care of right. This is a nightmare. Don't wish this on anyone. read more

I was really shocked by the low ratings on Yelp. I selected Sheats based off their high google reviews when I found out I needed a root canal and the place my dentist originally referred me to had a long wait. I had a great experience there! My co-pay ended up being cheaper than the original place i was going to go to by almost $200! (I have Guardian as my dental insurance and my insurance covered majority of the procedure). Everyone at the office was extremely kind. They tested my tooth to determine if it needed a root canal (The cold test sucks, that's the only bad part of the experience). Then they explained the root canal process, had me review the costs and decide if I would proceed, I agreed and paid, and then I was numbed up and had the root canal. They were so kind and caring and made sure I was comfortable and okay the whole time. If you have to get a root canal, they will take good care of you! read more

I had a bad root canal moment about 10 years ago, where in the span of 3 months I had to get 5 root canals done. All of them were done by Dr Sheats Sr. They were done well and they were concerned with my comfort the whole time. They've held up well over the years; I did have to go get one re-done in 2014, but not because of the work by the Sheats. The dentist I had seen to put the crown on permanently hadn't filled the tooth with the permanent filling and just sealed it so it got infected. But Sheats Endo re-did it and it's been great! (And I've since found a better dentist who finished it off correctly). It started hurting again recently but it turned out to be a simple fix of grinding the crown down (I'm a grinder/clencher when I sleep, so my natural teeth were grinding down, but not the crown. It was messing up my bite) and it's feeling great again! As long as I'm living in Nashville and they're still taking patients I will keep returning to them for my endodontic needs. Seriously great group of people working at their locations (I've been to the downtown one and the Hendersonville one). read more

My wife had a root canal done in 2019 that was half done, when she went in today the endodntic dr. Shears claimed she had a root canal that he didn't finish so my wife asked is he going to finish it and his response was $1400. Are you kidding me? I have federal insurance and what not but you want people to pay more for an unfinished job? An unfinished job that was paid in full when she went for the root canal. Horrible business model for sure. If he hired someone to put a deck for his house and done the same he'd probably raise hell. This one is definitely going to the BBB read more

Upon arrival and sitting in the waiting room, I heard loud whistling, ear piercing. It continued and I wondered where it was coming from... Eventually the Endodontist himself came out and I see he is the one whistling loudly. So odd. When I finally get back to the chair, both women assistants had an attitude with me because I was crying from the pain that was inflicted on me. I couldn't help it. Their callous treatment of me was embarrassing. They treated me like I was a child having a tantrum and were cold and mean. I told them my teeth are very sensitive to cold and that it would hurt if they did a cold test on them. They said they needed to do it, so they did, and it immediately made me burst into tears from how painful it was. The woman got annoyed with me and said "I'm getting the doctor" as if I was a child waiting for dad to get home. The Endodontist himself was straight and to the point, I appreciated his explanation of what was going on in my mouth. But his assistants were mean. read more

I had an appointment for my son and on the way my car broke down. I was unable to make the appointment. In the haste to get my car and family off the highway I failed to call and let them know the situation (apparently unforgivable mistake). In the month or more since then I have tried to reschedule several times and am told that because I missed that appointment that I am unable to make another until the "administrator" unlocks my account to do so. I am told by the receptionist that she will have the "administrator" contact me and to expect an email. I have not gotten a call or email or any other communication for that manner from said "administrator". I got what I was told is her direct phone number, don't get to excited; it goes strait to voice mail and the box is full and can't except messages. Not sure what they administrate but it is not the patients or her phones mail box. I have never worked so hard to get someone to take money from me. I expect that the Doctors are great, I wouldn't know personally. What I do know is that the office staff and especially the "administrator" may be the worse I have ever seen. If you need one of these Doctors good luck making an appointment! Joel Lord read more

I had a root canal with them last year. It was an emergency situation and I did not have insurance. They required payment in full right away and I was told that in order to have any sort of payment plan that I would have to wait about a week...even though I was in severe pain with an infected tooth. I ended up paying the full amount out of pocket (approximately $1300) and although the procedure was quick and well done, I would never recommend Sheats to anyone else as it felt like they only cared about getting my money and were immediately unconcerned when they found out I might not be able to pay. Fast forward a year, my friend was also referred to Sheats for a root canal and was in an excruciating amount of pain. He also does not have full dental insurance. He experienced the same terrible customer service as I did if not worse. He was told he would have to pay $165 (!!!!!!) for a consultation (a fee I did not have barely a year before) and his final bill was $1400. They told him that he could not apply for their payment plan and get the procedure in the same day and applying for the plan would take about a week. It seems they have a pattern of taking advantage of their patients and truly only care about money. On top of that, he realized he had a discounted dental plan that should apply but they claimed that the $1400 was the discounted rate already as a root canal actually costs $1900 -- total scam!!! A single tooth root canal does not cost this much. DO NOT GO HERE. There are plenty of other reputable endodontrists (and general dentists as well) in the Nashville area that can perform root canals! read more

I am not going to lie, I didn't have a great experience in the Nashville office. It seemed like the perfect storm of poor personal skills. I wrote a review detailing my experience. It wasn't pretty. Dr. Mathis contacted me concerned with my review and we talked. She said she had talked to specific members of her staff regarding how situations were handled. She apologized for how the visit went and told me it wasn't a good portrayal of how her office is usually run. I was impressed that she would try to fix what I felt went wrong in the first place. I personally do not want to go back but I'm hoping that everyone learned from my experience to the betterment of yours. read more

If I could give negative 10 stars, I would in a HEARTBEAT! Jimmy Sheats shouldn't have a medical license! This quack did three root canals on 3 of my upper right molars and EVERY SINGLE ONE was botched!!! Beautifully decorated office, professional, upbeat and considerate staff. The man that worked on me was very good at what he does. He was super fast and it was virtually painless. The staff at the Cool Springs office was very nice and welcoming and the service was great! Thank you!!

They were extremely rude and inconsiderate. When I got there the secretary had major attitude and was super rude. When they did an X-ray on me it's normally sharp when they put that sticker in your mouth and it hurt because it wasn't placed correctly. I tried to adjust it but the assistants were so angry and they rudely told me to not touch and that it's suppose to be like that. The dentist himself was also inconsiderate to the level Of discomfort and pain I felt. The worst dentist experience ever. Do NOT RECOMMEND! read more

I went to this place years ago, my dentist referred me because of my insurance coverage. I never went back and allowed my dentist to handle my root canals. There wasn't much personal attention, they kept bouncing from patient to patient like a lazy susan over and over my whole appointment. I'd seen an endodontist since I was 12 years old and never ever was treated like that. The office didn't seem well kept as I remember and they required payment up front not after the procedure, which I'd never seen in my 20 years of dental / endodontic care.I'd never seen such a lack of personal care and distrust of patients in my life. read more

My experience with Sheats Endodontics group was so bad that , not only am I not returning, I am going to relate my experience to the dentist who referred me in case he isn't aware of what he's sending unsuspecting people into! I had my 7 year old son with Down Syndrome with me and an aunt to care for him while I saw the doctor and the clerical staff was repeatedly unpleasant to and about him, despite the fact that he was behaving VERY well! Told us he wasn't to sit on the floor when he sat at his aunt's feet looking at a book and told us more than once that she would have to take him and leave if he didn't do this or that. He. Was. Being. Good. Nobody complained but them. They had issues with the phones and computers which they loudly chattered about like a gaggle of geese for more than a half hour and set my nerves on edge. Then when I saw the doctor and got my treatment options, my phobia of dentists was made light of." You are afraid of the dentist but you have a whole mouthful of dental work?" Following this, a lady came to talk about cost and I am told the procedure I need is more than $700 over what I was told to expect when my regular dentist called for the referral! Run, don't walk outa there! read more
