I just had my hair styled by Aspen on your team. She brought a very positive energy and was such a pleasure to meet. Aspen actually gave me the best haircut/style that I have had in years. Everyone is so nice and knowledgeable! Hailey did an amazing job, not only helping me decide on a new style, but also taking it slow and making sure I was comfortable with the length being cut off! I also love that when I asked about adding on a zone highlight to my haircut, she ( very politely ) asked me to book another appointment for the color service. I have really thick, coarse hair that can be difficult to work with. As I am trying to grow it out from a very short haircut, he listened to what my goals are for my hair, then made suggestions on how he would cut it so that it would look good while growing out. I had high hopes for this, but I absolutely hated my hair afterwards. I always thought women who cry over their hair are dramatic but I finally understood yesterday when I started crying as soon as I got home. My hair is curly. I asked for a curly lob and I showed my stylist a picture of myself having the length I wanted. I got a bob. I'd be fine if that's what I wanted, but it's not. My only consolation is that the hair will grow back. Also, I got my hair dyed, but my white hairs are still showing. read more

Lucaya is the best! She always does a great job, especially with coloring my hair. Because I am very allergic to hair dye, she does "low lights" using foils and applying the dye without touching my scalp so I don't break out in a rash. The staff are also all so nice and welcoming! read more

Shear Rituals was recommended by a friend, and it didn't disappoint! Richard is professional, knowledgeable, and kind! My hair is challenging because I have a lot of cowlicks and it is very thin. In salons in the past my scalp reacted to the hair dye, itched while it was applied....not here! Whatever they use doesn't affect me at all! The shampoo station experience has improved here also. Despite my social anxiety and intense feelings of awkwardness about human interaction, I knew I needed to get my hair cut and was dreading it. Thankfully, I found shear rituals while looking around on Google and decided to make an appointment with Corinna. When the day came, Corinna was so genuinely warm, I immediately felt better when I first met her. Even though I was getting a basic shampoo/cut/blow dry, she took the time to talk with me and make sure I was happy. After doing an initial cut, she asked how I felt about the length, and made me feel comfortable enough to tell her I wanted it a little shorter, which is something I'd never do ordinarily. She was easygoing and made it a great experience. Just one week before, my mom and I lost our elderly rescue dog due to his declining health. It really brightened my day seeing one of the stylists/owners dogs tap-tap-tapping back and forth, in a pride-colored outfit. The whole vibe of the salon was welcoming and inclusive. I can't recommend this place and Corinna enough, especially if you're low-key terrified of people. I'm actually looking forward to seeing them again! read more

I have thin, fine hair. I don't have high expectations. However, Richard was so warm, friendly, and fun to talk to while he worked magic on my hair. He explained how hair products work and what I was doing wrong that was making my hair flat and listless. I have trouble at my age with being invisible and I appreciated that he went out of his way to be welcoming and helpful. I love my haircut. Even the next day it looks great. I will definitely go back to the salon and especially Richard. I also liked the atmosphere. i am introverted and his work area of the salon is set back a bit so it is a little more private and I felt less stressed. Started going to this salon after they reopened from Covid shut down. Two months ago my stylist left and I was assigned a new and very young stylist without my input. Very sweet young women but lacks experience. She assured me she had my color formula, unfortunately the color was off and the cut uneven. I had requested before my appointment the salon contact the previous stylist to send a photo of my last cut to the new person. I was told their answering machine did not always work and the request was not received. I requested a refund on the cut or have someone else trim the uneven area. I was told "they are not a good fit for me and find another salon" also told my last stylist left on unhappy terms. They did refund the cost of the cut and canceled my future appointment. Had my appointment with Richard, not a pleasant experience! A complete disappointment! If you are looking for a complex hair color technique, this is not the place for it. Also, if you enjoy your hair being pulled forcibly different direction, during washing and drying, well Richard is your guy. Have been to a different salons throughout the world, never before in my life my hair was washed with such a bruit force! Richard also believes that in order to make your hair look smooth he needs to put a ton of product in it. Never once he asked if I would be okay with any king of hair product, or if I am allergic to certain smells, etc. The shampoo that smells like a clove is not something that I would've ever approve of. Also the brush that was used to dry my hair had a hairs from previous client on it, disgusting! Yes the owner who calls their clients Trolls telling you a lot about their business. I have been going to Aveda salons for the past 15 years. When my salon in AMI changed their business hours, I googled 'Aveda salon near me' and was happy to find Shear Rituals located less than 5 miles from my house. I booked my first appointment with Aspen and we immediately clicked (which is pretty important to me). I told her what I wanted, showed her a couple pics and she did an amazing job. I booked my 2nd appointment with her last Saturday for a overall refresher of highlights and cut. Again, she did a great job. Although she is quite younger than me, I feel like our conversations are effortless. I see that most of the complaints for this salon are regarding the cost, but if you view the services ahead of time and have gone to an Aveda (or any other 'upscale' salon, this should not come as a surprise). This is one of very few things that I splurge on but to me, it's worth it. I love the atmosphere of the salon and the staff is very professional yet keeps the experience fun and relaxing! I recently relocated from NY to FL & desperately needed someone to completely redo my tape-in extensions, cut & color. After searching I came across Shear Rituals and worked with their amazing stylist Francesca who exceeded my expectations. She was extremely professional & installed my extensions, matching the exact color I wanted, better than any salon I have been to in NY & I've been getting extensions for over 10yrs. Typically my tapeins were installed tight & when they grew out would fall flat, Francesca took her time with placement & my cut so that this wouldn't be the case. Honestly would recommend Francesca for any service but if you're looking for someone specifically for extensions, she's your go to! I've already booked my next appointment with her. read more

I give this salon two stars because I didn't have any complaints above the partial highlight that I had done. I didn't walk out of the salon going "Wow.... my hair looks amazing! " But the highlights were okay. I had just gotten highlights & low lights put in my hair less than two months prior. However, I did not end up liking the dark around my face. Hence, my choice to only get a partial highlight. I simply didn't need a full highlight again that quickly. The reason I only gave the salon two stars is because I ended up paying $180 for a partial highlight & a blow dry. No cut. $150 + $30 tip. I was quoted $75 for a partial highlight. OK. Fair. And $25 for a blow dry. OK. Fair. What I was not told when I was given the quote for the services I needed was that it's $25 if you need toner. And it's another $25 if they have to mix up more of the bleach/highlighting mixture - Not sure why a second bowl would be needed for a partial highlight anyway? I live just outside the city of Chicago (where prices are typically higher than here in in Bradenton, FL) & I've been getting my hair highlighted for many years & I've never spent $180 on a partial highlight and a blow dry. I was shocked. I, like most women, am on a budget. And I feel very strongly that when a price is quoted, all of the possible charges should be included in that quote. And I also feel that, before the services are performed that would incur those additional costs, a client should be informed. Bottom line, I felt blindsided by the charges when I went to pay. No, probably won't be going back to this salon anytime soon If you're on a budget, this is not the place to go. If you're not on a budget & are happy to leave a salon feeling ok, not great, but okay with the services performed, this place is right up your alley. After reading the business owner's response, Mark, I have this to say.... I'll keep it short & simple because there were several things that you referenced that are untrue. I won't respond to lies. I ALWAYS tip a minimum of 15%. Always. (In this case I tipped 18%). Why? Because I can afford to. And because many years ago I relied on tips to live. And I remember those days vividly. The stylist does not deserve to take a hit for an unethical situation her employer created. If you want to insult me for tipping your stylist very well, that's an insult I'll take. I can't remember reviewing any other salon in recent years. Ive been going to the same salon for years at home in Illinois. And I certainly haven't ever given them a bad review. I think it's says a lot about the character of the person who responded to my review that they would insult any other salon no matter how inexpensive their services may be. But that's just my humble opinion. Lastly, I assure you, not being able to afford your services is not my issue. I will never ever, ever, ever be wealthy enough to overpay for services or be taken advantage of when it comes to my finances. Quite frankly, that's why I have what I have. It's interesting that your response focuses far more on insulting me when you don't even know me than it does addressing the issue that I had at your salon. I was charged $50 more than I anticipated because I wasn't told about possible additional costs. That was my problem. You should just correct that to avoid a situation like this happening again. And then you won't have to insult customers. Imagine that! read more
