I have been searching for someone who can cut and manage unruly curly dry porous hair ..( picture a red obnoxious toddler stepped to your head ) After researching , I saw many posts suggesting TARIN . . I'm so glad I " took a chance". She took a lot of time with me , and obviously knows what she's talking about - she was just the one I was hoping for. read more

Upon my first appointment with Donna I knew immediately that I was literally in the hands of an experienced professional. Donna spoke with me for a while to discuss how I wanted my hairstyle. We came up with a plan to take down the length in "baby steps" I was extremely pleased with the results. I scheduled my next appointment before leaving and am looking forward to seeing Donna again. She is very skilled and a very pleasant and pleasant stylist. read more

Curly hair / deva type cut from Tarin is superb and perfect for my curls. This photo was taken a couple of weeks after the cut, when the curls really started to flourish from the layered cut. Love it - best curly hair cut I've ever had. GO if you have curly hair! read more

I am new to this area, so I went online to research salons in my area. I looked through dozens of reviews, so I showed up with pretty high expectations, and very messed up hair. Right away, Tarin welcomed me in and we started talking about solutions for my hair issues. She's absolutely one of the most educated and talented hair dressers I've ever been to in my life. I went in with a botched, uneven haircut, and a horrible hair color from another salon. She took the time to explain to me why my hair color was in need of some correction, and she kept the length in my hair, but completely reshaped it and it looks fantastic now!! I have found my salon home now, and will not go anywhere else! I also have had my hair blown out by Debra and she's terrific too. Her experience is very evident in how quickly she was able to achieve the exact look I was hoping for! Once you try John Gregory Salon, you will never want to go anywhere else. The ambience is peaceful and inviting, and everyone is very friendly and accommodating! read more

John Gregory Salon - I took my friend for a blow dry with Tarin, and this is the beautiful result! - Hair Salons Near Me - Bradenton, Florida

Today was the first time I visited the salon. I have been very concerned about Covid. After an email assuring that protocols are followed I made an appointment to have my hair colored and cut after 4 months. The salon was clean, everyone was wearing masks and there was social distancing between chairs. My stylist, Donna, was excellent. Her attention to detail was amazing. I left with perfect color and style, feeling like a new person. read more

Nice people and good hair stylists at reasonable prices. Nothing fancy and definitely not a salon where you feel pampered, but it is a good value if that is important to you. read more

Donna was very patient with helping me decide on a style. It was exactly what I wanted. Very relaxing atmosphere will definitely return.

Taryn was so helpful with making the right decision for my new cut and style. She precision cut my scraggly thinning mom-bob into an edgy trendy short asymmetric style. So happy I found her. Highly recommend. read more

Just had a great cut by Debra, co-owner. She listened to my concerns and recommended and preformed an awesome new cut that I needed badly. You won't be sorry by giving this salon a try! read more

I had been going to an expensive, trendy, downtown Sarasota salon faithfully and was not disappointed in their work or products. However, it became increasingly more difficult to get an appointment with my hairdresser so I decided to try and find a place closer to home with a more flexible approach to scheduling. I ran across the website for John Gregory Salon and decided to give it a try. The reviews I had seen were good and it seemed to be a boutique-style shop that really catered to its clients. It is now September and I started going to Debra in April. Debra has done a fantastic job with my color and my cut. Just this past visit, I brought a few pictures for something different and she did a fantastic job. Everyone I have encountered this week has told me that they loved my haircut and color/highlights and that it suits me more than any style I have had previously. Debra just knew intuitively what I was going for and was able to make it happen. She knows her stuff and has great ideas and consulting skills. Everyone who works there is super nice and accommodating and I am comfortable recommending them to anyone. It's nothing like my previous experience with other salons. It's a small, kind of low-key, no stress kind of place. So, if you are into bright lights, loud music, and 20 stylists all talking and blow drying at the same time, this is not that kind of place. read more

Debra was nice from the phone call to the final do. I colored my hair at home because I'm new in town and tried a couple of places wasn't happy. But a disaster happened at home with the color, and Debra listened to me and she fixed it....I will be keeping these guys, everyone in there is nice and helpful, I felt like I was an old client which is wonderful. Thank you Debra.... read more

I was a bit nervous trying a new salon away from home. But I was immediately put at ease. Debra actively listened as I shared what my stylist at home does with regards to color and cut even though she has been in the business for a long time. She was very understanding of the "leap of faith" one takes when trusting someone new with their locks! I loved my color, cut and style. It was a bonus that Debra was so patient and friendly! I would highly recommend this salon for seasonal folks who are hesitant about going to a new place as well as regular clients. I will definitely go back confident that I will leave happy! read more

Thanks to the reviews I read on Yelp, I decided to give John Gregory a try. John did the cut and Debra did the color. I am thrilled with the results! The salon is clean and comfortable with a friendly and helpful staff. While in Sarasota, I will be a loyal client. read more

I moved away from the area awhile ago and saw no reviews on this place and thought they deserved to get on the map here on Yelp. No doubt, having a great stylist in your arsenal of service providers is like having a excellent mechanic or attorney. Their work and talent is indispensible to your life and you know you can count them doing excellent work every single time. In all of my years bouncing and trying stylist after stylist in the Sarasota-Bradenton area, I happened to cross paths with Tarin, a former acquaintence and stylist now for a long while at John Gregory. She is one of those lucky individuals who has actually found their calling and passion in life and parlayed it into a real career. And not only that, but possesses the genuine talent to excecute on your vision or offer real expertise on what's going to work for you or not. I have never had a bad haircut experience when Tarin has cut and styled my hair. I am sure, at some point in our lives, we have all been familiar with that feeling of trepidation or dread at the hands of a new stylist when you know something has taken a turn for the worst. Last I recall, Tarin was becoming quite handy with the keratin complex treatment and hair extensions in addition to already being great with hair and makeup for formal occasions like weddings, proms, etc. The John Gregory salon itself is cute, boutique-y and simply stylish. One of those places where they offer you something to drink if you need to wait on your stylist a little. The staff there, employees and owners alike, are quite nice and down to earth. No snobby, uber trendy airs when it comes to their customers from my own personal observation. I can't speak for anyone else's talents there, but, from what I understand, the collective experience is long-running and very professional. The salon itself is hidden in an unasumming office park just east of I-75 on SR70. So if you are new to Manatee or North Sarasota, or are looking to try a new salon, give John Gregory a shot. Methinks you will not regret it in the least. read more

I admit I am the ultimate 'fraidy-cat' when it comes to getting my hair done. After about eight solid years of letting my hair go completely unattended to, I decided that my graying rat's nest really some attention. Yes, I would cut my bangs with dull scissors at 6am with blurry eyes! That - and washing regularly - was about it. SO, needing my first haircut in eight years, and needing coloring to hide my new graying life, I did a Google search on Bradenton Hairdressers, and saw a good review for Tarin at John Gregory. Still skeptical that anyone could fix 'me', I bravely got an appointment and explained to Tarin exactly what I wanted. I was honestly petrified that I could end up looking worse than before, as I wanted blonde coloring, but did not want to look like a cheap floozy, or a wacky modern cut (am a traditionalist). Tarin listened, and she masterfully cut my hair and bangs to perfection, and not too much, I asked for her to take baby-steps with the extent of cutting my hair, which she fully respected, and cut only the amount I requested. My bangs are now defined and lovely, and I am now on the road to having nicer looking and healthier hair. I know Tarin probably wanted to cut more, but I greatly appreciate that she respected my wishes to start off slowly (baby-steps). Just as importantly, she match the natural tones of my hair color and lightened it all without looking the least bit cheap or tacky. My hair is a beautiful color now, different tones of blonde meets darker, very very natural looking, no more gray, even though it's been two months already since I've had this done. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can honestly say that I left the salon feeling like a new person! I could not be more pleased. I have still neglected to call Tarin and thank her (still plan to) but for now feel that she truly deserves a good review. Thank you Tarin for making me feel SO MUCH better about myself, and now have more confidence. p.s. the salon is very clean, neat and has a very professional atmosphere. read more

I read reviews on yelp and decided to try John Gregory salon. How fortunate for me that Tarin had an opening! I walked in needing color and left feeling like I just had the most amazing makeover. I needed a cut but didn't know what I wanted just self conscious about going too short. I left with the most flattering haircut I have ever had! Don't even think twice call and get an appt!! read more

The salon is clean, trendy and everyone was so nice! It's completely off the beaten path, so I would have never had the pleasure of this wonderful hair experience had it not been for Yelp. Tarin did my hair, I got highlights and a cut, and it turned out exactly how I wanted. I'll be spreading the word! Hopefully, if you're like me, and don't know who to trust your precious locks to? Know, that here, your hair is in good hands. Thanks friends I will be back!!! read more

Best haircut ever by Debra. She actually made recommendations which has never happened! I am more than pleased with the new cut and style!

A friend recommended John Gregory about 3 years ago and they are the only ones I have trusted my hair to since. Deborah does my color and it always looks beautiful. The girls they hire to shampoo and rinse are incredible-the head, scalp, and neck massage they give is AMAZING!!! John is magical when it comes to cutting my hair, I always feel ready for the catwalk. The amount of compliments I receive from friends and strangers about my color and style confirms that my choice in this salon was the best one ever. read more

I been going to JG on & off for over 5 years. I had a terrible experience today with the salon. Debra the owner was rude, condescending and truly doesn't know how to treat customers. A happy customer will be a returning customer. A dissatisfied customer will never go back and will tell everyone she knows to never step foot in your salon. It's your salon's loss for lots of future business.... read more

I went to this salon based on the positive comments and 5 star rating. I was tired of spending money and leaving unhappy at other salons. I was looking for a better experience and thought this might be it. I should have saved my money and went to a 15$ hair salon. I should have walked out when I first got there and received a not so warm welcome from the female owner. My stylist was nice though. My cut is not worth 60$!! Won't go back. Thanks for showing me more expensive isn't always better. read more

I have curly hair and needed to find a stylist that knew how to cut it properly. I was lucky enough to find Deborah. She really listens and does a fabulous job. I get so many compliments on the style and color. If you want an experienced hair stylist this is the lady for you! read more

I had my hair cut last week by Debra, the co owner. I showed her a picture, one I've used many times before with stylists. I wanted my hair cut two inches overall, with two inches also cut off the shorter layer. When I left the shop I couldn't really tell how it all looked as it was dried differently than the way I dry it. So, after washing and drying at home I saw how butchered my simple haircut was. The right layers are way shorter than the left layers, and the back was the even shorter than the sides. It made no sense at all. My husband, who has always complimented my hair, said out of the blue "what are you going to do about that hair?" Normally I would return to have it repaired somehow. But the only thing she could do is cut all the layers even shorter to even them out like the picture. But I don't want my hair shorter. Plus, if she did this, I would have no confidence that she is competent enough. Hair grows. I will disguise it somehow. But I felt the need to warn what the outcome could be. read more

Lovely place with lovely and friendly people who know exactly what they are doing! Had a toner and a hair cut and I'm much more happier.. I even paid less than a stupid in-the mall hair salon! I would highly recommend! read more

I was unhappy with my current hair stylist and did not know where else to go as I am not from this area. I researched on YELP and this salon came up with good reviews. I decided to get it a try! What a great experience!! I am so happy. A very lovely lady named Donna corrected my colour issue and gave me a great haircut. Everyone there was very friendly. Donna is relocating here from New Jersey- she has years of experience and building a clientele here in Bradenton/Sarasota. If you are in need of a stylist, I highly recommend! Price was very reasonable. read more

Although I live in Venice, Tarin is worth the drive. She turned a not so good color and highlight into a gorgeous head of hair. It is very easy to get an appointment and they will even stay late if needed. I will not go anywhere else. Thanks John Gregory Salon! read more

If your looking for a good haircut and color from a experienced professional team consider this salon! When I moved here I did my research for a new hairdresser and went to several high end salons with big company names and one or two with a pretty name, I requested a senior stylist and unfortunatly I've had some really bad cuts and color at some high end name salons! However I must tell you I came across John Gregory LLC Salon on yelp as well and scheduled an appointment the end of last week. Easy. I had my appointment today, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The reviews were right on. They not only were professional, the salon is calm, they were kind to my neck disability and listened to my needs and how I wear my hair. They took their time and did it right. I will be back! Thank you! read more

Went to Tarin who is a talented and well-trained stylist based on these reviews. In a consultation she told me she could easily guide me through growing my hair. After multiple visits, she said I needed to find my own style and bring in a picture of a style for "coarse thick" hair (the way she said it was insulting). Once I found something I liked, she tried to talk me out of the style, and ended up doing what she wanted instead. She also cut my friend's hair much shorter then my friend had directed. She does not listen to the customer. We both left very disappointed and will not return. read more

This man knows hair. Period. Went twice, did both cut (John) and color (Deb), and left ecstatic every time. Reasonable pricing, excellent service. My go to salon when in Florida. They also offer Mani and pedi services, which I haven't tried but hope to remember next time I'm scheduling a visit...highly recommended. read more

I have never had short hair. I was tired of my long hair and need a change. I went to yelp and looked at the different salons and the services they offered. This place sounded like a good fit so I booked a consultation. I met with Debra. Right off the bat she had some suggestions that I found helpful. She said she could get me in but it would be later in the day. She wanted to have the necessary time to do what needed to be done. I found the environment clean, modern and welcoming from the time I entered the establishment. Donna has many years of experience in her profession. She is personal, yet professional. It took about 3 hours to get everything right. I am totally satisfied with the results and I received about 50 likes on Facebook. She did a excellent job on the eyebrows. I had very long and thick hair. It was heavy feeling and now it is layered and shorter. The natural curl in my hair was exemplified by the skilled layering of my hair. The color was just right too. I couldn't be happier, and I will be a loyal customer for years to come. read more

Great atmosphere and welcoming smile from my stylist Donna. She is very talented and took time to understand exactly what I wanted to do.
