The owner of the establishment was so nice and walked us through the menu when we told him it was our first visit to the restaurant! We ended up ordering a chicken shawarma wrap and the chicken was very well cooked and paired nicely with the garlic sauce, tahini, and fries. I really enjoyed the food portions as well and thought the prices were fair! There was plenty of seating the restaurant itself is well kept. I will definitely be back soon!! read more

Tried this place over dinner on a Thursday night. The owners were polite and warm. We ordered one veggie platter and Lamb Patter with one extra skewer. The veggie platter was delicious. I specially liked the salads and the falafel wasn't dry at all. However, my husband didn't like the lamb platter much as the the meat was just ok. There is plenty of parking as it's located in a plaza. The ambiance was decent. I would recommend this place and try it out for yourself! read more

Shawarmati is located where The Grill Effect used to be. There's a sticker on the door that states zabihah halal. The interior is fast-food style. It's relatively small, so not a ton of seating, but there are tables outside as well. The gentleman running the place was very friendly. I went just a few days after opening, so the menu was limited for the time being. They only had beef shawarma sandwich, chicken shawarma sandwich, and chicken tawook. I got the beef shawarma meal, which included the sandwich, fries, and a drink. Pricing was fair enough. The sandwich was pretty good. However, since the pieces were cut small and they used tortilla bread, it was a floppy mess. The meat kept falling out. If they insist on using tortilla bread, they should only cut the sandwich in half so there are two big pieces. Or if they want to do the small-cut style, they should use the thin pita that crisps up properly. In any case, the meat was tender and flavorful. The garlic sauce was legit. The fries were nice and crispy, although I would have liked some seasoning on them. I also like that they included some pickled vegetables. For now I'd say 3.5 stars, but the place has potential. Looking forward to the full menu being launched so I can try a couple of other items in the future. read more

Ordered 1/2 grilled chicken which takes 30 mins to prepare (which I knew b4 hand & called in for pick up) instead of fries I requested if I could have rice instead. Owner graciously said yes. Let me tell you the portion was more than I expected & chicken & rice were not only filling but VERY good. It came with a side of hummus, pita & pickled veggies. All for less than $20. Ordered 2 meals and a side of falafel to go and had a pleasant experience with the staff. Ordered the shish tawook meal and the chicken shawarma bowl. The chicken shish tawook was delicious- very tender and super flavorful. It came with hummus, rice, pickled veggies and pita, all of which were just okay and not as flavorful as the meat. The chicken shawarma was cooked very nicely but also did not have a ton of flavor. The falafel was also just okay and was not very crispy (this could have been due to it being a take out order and sitting in the car in the way home for a bit). The prices were pretty standard, maybe a little on the higher end but the portions were generous. Overall it was good not great but I would order the tawook again! read more

The place is small though.The food tasted good but the kabob was undercooked and there were items in my mix plate that hit the spot and some that wasn't my favorite. Finally tried the new restaurant in town. Decent food and good service. We tried the chicken shawarma wraps, fires and the beef burger. The chicken shawarma wrap - I would give it 3 stars. It was decent, but not their best item on the menu Fries - they were fries. Not the bad not the best out there. But if you having burgers and wraps how can you not have fries The burger - this was their best item (at least for me) big patties with lots of flavor. 5 stars for the burger!! I was visiting and was treated to an after event snack at a restaurant on Maple Avenue in Lisle tucked away in a mini mall. This is a much needed Middle Eastern restaurant to add to the town's flavor. Omg.......so delicious! Ordered beef and chicken shawarma. It came with fries that had really good seasoning. It also came with pickled veggies that were delish also.
