    Hallaca Empanada
    Marie-Carmen K.

This spot is my new go to! I am Venezuelan at heart and they have the best empanadas and hallacas! I absolutely loved the food, the loaded fries were amazing, the garlic sauce is top notch, service was amazing! Everything tastes so fresh and it was an explosion of flavors. The Venezuelan and Arab mix goes together like my boyfriend and me, PERFECTLY, hahahhaa. Ambiance is amazing with great latin music. The owner really takes care of his business and it shows. We are so pleased with the food, we will be back soon.

New Arabic/Venezuelan fusion at Baymeadows and there was a bit of a wait after 530 PM. Ordered the Lamb Shawarma to go and comes with fries and house sauces. It was OK and just had the right spice to it. Also got a Venezuelan Mud Pie as customers kept on picking this item, might as well try it for breakfast tomorrow. The service was good, staff was very helpful and the restaurant including the restroom was clean. There are other selections on the menu and may dine-in next time to try other items.

Best shawarma I've had so far!!! Saw this place on instagram and so glad I went to try them out!!! Everything tasted fresh, had great flavor and nice amount of meat in wrap. Service was great, they were patient and helpful. The outdoor seating decor is super cute & nice for a hot day. 11/10!!! Can't wait to come back!

    Mix Shawarma French Fries

Tried this place last week with my husband and we were both impressed!! We split a "mixed meat wrap" and the loaded fries, which was more than enough (honestly could have just split the wrap meal it was so much food) You also must get the sauce. SO YUM!

Well one of my favorite food trucks got a brick and mortar. I tried one of their Venezuelan hot dogs and a mixed shawarma. I found the hot dog topping to be a bit much and was incredibly messy to eat. I'm a hot dog enthusiast, but this one was a little too heavy on the white sauce for me. However, their shawarma was absolutely fantastic. I loved the spices and flavors. I'd recommend calling your order in as it did take quite a long time when placing the order in person.

Excellent blend of Mediterranean and Latin flavors! I HIGHLY recommend the empanadas...so good! The service is also top notch and the atmosphere is culturally fitting. The diverse menu has a lot of variety! This is definitely a go-to place for local fare.

This place has great food, and it's reasonable. So far I've stayed on the Venezuelan side of the menu. Everything was 5 stars.

I will say walking in and seeing the inside of the restaurant was a good sign the food would be good . The first thing I noticed is that it looked and smelled clean and it also wasn't super busy but we did go in for a bit of an early dinner and it was the night before thanksgiving ..so that could've had something to do with it . We had ordered chicken shawarma and falafel and I have to say this is the most authentic and home tasting shawarma I've ever had . You can tell everything is made from scratch .possibly even the falafel because they were still hot when they came out. I'm not sure what they are putting in the falafel but those can easily become addicting . Will for sure be back!

This place is convenient as it's right in a plaza with other shops. Simple yet delicious. I ordered the lentil soup. Creamy and flavorful with lemon zest. Also the falafel was so fluffy and tasteful. The chicken wrap was delicious with many spices yet not spicey and the French fries were fried to perfection. Not oily at all. The service was on point and the server was so helpful. I will definitely be back again.

I came in as a solo diner and was seated quickly, although my table was kind of nestled underneath the high outdoor bar. That meant hearing some of the bartender's phone conversations. I ordered a glass of Lebanese rose wine and liked it! But my meal wasn't impressive. The vegetarian grape leaves (one of my favorite dishes, generally) were OK, although several were split up on my plate (but hey, it happens). I thought the flavor was underwhelming; there was a lot of acidity but nothing else. I also ordered a side of "extra crispy seasoned potato fries" which just turned out to be generic crinkle fries with salt. Definitely wouldn't order those again. I thought maybe there would be some sort of twist on them? The big frustration was service. The restaurant was far from full when I went -- I counted maybe a dozen seated tables. After I finished eating, I spent more than 30 minutes trying to get my waiter's attention to get my check even as I sat with my plates pushed away, glasses empty, and credit card out. He walked by multiple times to wait on and check with other tables, and I saw at least five other employees working in the front of house and walking by me. Even when I got his attention for the check, it took quite a few minutes to get it, despite him walking out to other tables. (Although I will note he seemed busier than the other employees!) My check before tip came to $24, which felt on the pricey side for what I got. I hope I'm wrong, but I got the vibe that I wasn't exactly their favorite type of guest -- a solo diner who wasn't smoking hookah. (I noticed another solo non-smoker go similarly unnoticed by staff.) Maybe they heavily favor regulars, too. But they weren't at capacity, and I'd have gotten out quicker had I been able to pay. Maybe it was just an off night. But it's just not a great feeling to be ignored.

Light, but very delightful seasoning. The lamb and veggie were just like what I make at home! The rice was cooked with peas and carrots and was good. It weighed about 6oz. Overall the dish was hearty and healthy. My server also gave me some complimentary fresh pita and zataar & olive oil (delicious). At only $27.5 (as of Feb 2026), this was a perfect deal! As there are not many Middle Eastern restaurants in Jacksonville, I am glad to find it and I would go there again the next time I visit this city!

Or if you want some authentic middle eastern food; ie, gyros, shawarma, grapeleaves, etc. After a hard day of working on things, I realized I had yet to grab anything to eat. It as about 3:30pm at this point and I needed something quick, tasty, and filling. I called up K&Y and ordered a few gyros, some extra to bring home to my family. Their gyros are always super tasty and well seasoned. For a cool $6, you get sliced beef, sliced lamb, and veggies stuffed into pita bread all topped in the gyro sauce. The sandwich is stuffed to the brim and actually comes in two extremely big halves! I recommend coming here for a change of pace from the ordinary fast food. This version is much healthy. It's also a good spot to check out for ingredients for those new recipes that've been on the back burner for awhile out of fear. The staff is more than helpful with anything you might need@

As for a ready-to-eat bite, I got their chicken shawarma and gyro plate ($6.50) http://static.px.yelp.com/bphoto/cEL6JycrcJjRHycrG-gb7w/l. This dish included shawarma, seasoned chicken, pita, hummus, and salad. The shawarma they serve here is just top quality lean lamb and flavorful. The strips of chicken had a mildly spicy seasoning. The top strips of chicken were somewhat dry, but the ones in the middle were much more moist and tasty. The pita bread were soft warm pillows, but the fresh tasting hummus was overdosed with too much olive oil which was pooling on top. The salad was a simple ice berg lettuce and tomato salad with sliced olives and feta cheese. What disappointed me about the meal was the chicken and hummus. However, the rest of the meal was pretty good and a whole lot of meat was loaded into it. Always a plus! By the way, one could clearly see from the meats hanging and roasting in the back, that they make their food fresh. I washed my meal down with a Pakistani soda http://static.px.yelp.com/bphoto/yo-3LArbGOo3jDazFwozhg/l - Pakota, lychee flavored. Wow! I couldn't stop drinking it. Pretty good. My son ordered the gyro sandwich ($5.50), but being the picky lil man he is, he didn't finish it. K & Y Imports is in the same shopping plaza with Harbor Freight Tools at the corner of Southside Blvd. and Beach Blvd.
