For lunch, besides the regular menu, they also offered a small buffet, but I decided to try their regular menu. Ordered the Kafta Istanbuly -- a platter of two skwers of lamb kafta, grilled eggplant, lightly sauteed veggie (carrots, broccoli, zucchini), raw spinach and yellow rice. Descent serving size. Light, but very delightful seasoning. The lamb and veggie were just like what I make at home! The rice was cooked with peas and carrots and was good. It weighed about 6oz. Overall the dish was hearty and healthy. My server also gave me some complimentary fresh pita and zataar & olive oil (delicious). At only $27.5 (as of Feb 2026), this was a perfect deal! As there are not many Middle Eastern restaurants in Jacksonville, I am glad to find it and I would go there again the next time I visit this city! read more

Tried Mandaloun today for the first time and was so impressed. We ordered the sampler with baba ghannouj, falafel, grape leaves, tabbouleh, and Sambousek. Everything was so fresh and delicious. The grape leaves had a great texture and were perfectly lemony. The baba ghannouj was smoky and delicious. The tabbouleh tasted as if the herbs were freshly picked. I'll definitely go again. Early Saturday dinner and not too busy. Seated as soon as I walked in and presented with menus. Restaurant was bright and very clean, with a friendly family run vibe (even the owner stopped by and asked how was the food). The combo platter was very filling and plenty for two and the spice package in each of the four selected dishes was spot on and tasted freshly prepared. For a main I had the Mixed Grill (Chicken, Beef and Lamb) all three were freshly prepared not dry and well seasoned. Accompanied by rice and mixed vegetables medley. Only observation was that maybe it was time to reupholstered the booth seats? But this wouldn't stop me from coming back. We were craving some Mediterranean food one day and was in the area. Decided on this restaurant due to high ratings and reviews on Google. Upon walking in, you get elevated vibes but if you choose to dine outdoors, it's more casual. We decided to dine outdoors since it was nice and cool outside. Our server who I think is the owner?? took care of us and she was super sweet, attentive, friendly, and patient with me as I asked her questions! Note: they have lunch prices and main course prices. We went after lunch so the prices were a little pricier. We shared the following: Pineapple juice with sparkling water added: 8/10 - the juice was refreshing, not too sweet and the perfect amount of tang. I love sparking juices so this hit the spot for me. You can tell how fresh the juice is! My husband had the Beef Shawarma: 9/10 - we both loved this! It was a good, big portion size, and came with veggies and rice. Everything was seasoned so well and nothing was needed to be added. Their tahini sauce was creamy, flavorful, and went so well with the beef! The beef was tender and the wrap was fluffy!! I appreciate that they so put the sauce on the side so you can add however much sauce you want on it or for dipping. The veggies were fragrant, crisp, and also seasoned well. The yellow rice was my favorite too as I found myself coming back for more, after I had some of my husband's wrap. Baba Ghanoush with pita bread. You also get complementary pita bread too with a dipping sauce, but everything was a 9.5/10 - the pita bread was so fluffy and dipping it in the baba ghanoush was divine! Baba ghanoush is grilled eggplant with sesame cream and lemon. I've tried at other places before but this restaurant blows the other competitors out of the water. It was creamy, light, and you can taste the hint of smokiness in it. The eggplant's taste and texture was so delicate and with the added the pomegranate seeds on top, there was a nice acidity and pop of flavor! 100 percent get this as an appetizer! You won't regret it. Our waitress also brought out a dipping sauce for the pita, I think one was like an olive oil dip with seasonings and lemon juice? The dipping sauce was delicious!! A little bit tangy but the flavors were dancing off my palette. I wanted to try the Soujok (small spicy Lebanese sausages flambé with a tomato, garlic, lemon, and oil sauce) but they were out. So I decided to try the Makanek instead. It's essentially the same thing but the sausages aren't spicy. I would give this dish: 7/10 - the sausages were plump, thick, and juicy. There is a little bit more of acidity in this dish so if you're not into tangy or sour things, then you won't like this. I dipped the sausages into some hot sauce and it elevated the flavors a notch. If you were to get this dish, definitely get some rice to soak up the sauce. I had a bite with the sausage dipped in hot sauce with the yellow rice and it was a really delicious bite. Hope I get to try the spicy sausages next time! If you do dine outside, there are some homeless people that walk around and will occasionally swipe the restaurant's ashtray or two on the table. I saw it happen where a lady did that while my husband was in the restroom. I was so shocked and before I could say anything to her, she left the proximity. I let the restaurant know and they said it's a common occurrence in the area and not much they can do. It didn't bother us and we enjoyed our outdoor dining, It was just an odd thing to see. Overall, we would definitely come back again! Service was amazing, attentive, and we were treated so kindly and warmly. Our food came out in a timely manner too! The price is a little on the pricier side but the portion sizes were good and the food was excellent. We will gladly pay extra for better quality food any day! We were a group of six meeting at another Mediterranean restaurant to find it was closed by the Board of Health. Where to go? Still wanting Mediterranean food we drove to Mandaloun. As we approached the restaurant, there were about six tables outside with people playing cards and smoking the hookah. They were also not speaking English so we knew right away. This was an authentic place. The inside is nicely decorated with white tablecloths. The six of us were seated and nice young server came over with waters for all of us. I didn't take a lot of pictures because we were busy talking and eating, but everything was excellent. The server did make some suggestions for appetizers and we got two sampler platters for the six of us. A few things on the platters were grape leaves, hummus, and Fattoush salad. It came with nice warm baskets of pita bread, which we really enjoyed. I was pretty stuffed after the appetizers so Friend and I decided to share a type of chicken on a kebab. It came with two kebabs. We each had one. It also came with the choice of salad, rice or potato. We chose the potato because we had already had salad two other people at our table ordered the chicken Shawarma, which were shredded chicken inside a pita pocket which they really said was excellent, there were some other dishes around the table and everyone enjoyed their meal. For dessert some ordered baklava and a cheese stuffed Filo dough type pastry, also excellent. Our mishap of a dinner that started out not looking great ended up excellent. Shoutout to our local community heroes! This is a wonderful venue that we spotted while learning about our neighborhood around the UPS store and Publix. We peeked at the menu on the window and saw that there were so many of our favorite dishes. We were warmly welcomed and seated right away. Our server was very friendly, bright, and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered our food and enjoyed a nice bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon while we chilled. We were served warm pita bread and a dipping dish full of herbs, spices, and olive oil. Yummm! We ordered savory grilled lamb chops with a side of refreshing tabbouleh. The grilled vegetables that are served with the lamb chops were so delicious as well! The perfect texture and balanced flavor. I ordered the combo platter which is cool because you get to pick four items from the many options of little starters. That was perfect because I knew that I wanted tabbouleh and hummus! I picked one like a spinach puff (Fatayer) and I had to have the server help me pick out the 4th option. We picked a meat one and she let me order one minced beef puff like an empanada (Sambousek) and one like a breaded football shaped meatball (Kebbe)! Everything was so fun to eat! The textures, flavors, temperatures, etc all add to the meal!!! I love the Foodie adventure! The owner came out to check on us and it was such a wonderful honor to meet him. He was so kind and personable. The Sunday dinner buffet is $35. Some of the dishes were among the best examples I've had of them, though Lebanese food still isn't one of my favorites. The fattoush was like an excellent Italian salad with pita chips in it. The deep fried cauliflower was something I could eat all day. Those were probably my two favorites. The namoura (squares of cake with a nut in the top) was my favorite dessert (over Halawet El Jeben and rice pudding), and I went back for more. The rice with melt-in-your-mouth lamb in it was well regarded by our table, more so than the rice and lentils. The Kebbe (ground meat and wheat in a football shape) was better than expected. The Angus burger (doesn't come with the buffet) tasted a cut above. The Moussaka (? eggplant) tasted better than it looked. The baba ghanoush and hummous were better than most or all of the examples I've tasted before; I preferred the former. Still, they aren't things I'd eat a lot of. The lentil soup was pleasant. The chicken kebabs were nothing special to me, and the ordinary salmon isn't what I go there for. I've never been a fan of grape leaves or tabbouleh, and this place didn't convert me. The setting is roomy and comfortable, with a decent bathroom. They did overcharge us for one item by $1 versus the price on the printed menu (but the price matched the online menu when I looked later). This little out of the way place has decor that is formal enough t for a first date or special dinner. The food is fabulous, with a Lebanese flavor. My crew of four decided to order a few different things to try: Hummus - really flavorful and a light creamy texture. Topped with thick olive oil. Grape Leaves - another winning appetizer, but not everyone at the table was not as thrilled. It was 50/50. Chicken Shwarma - big hit with my crew. Beef Shwarma - my son's favorite Lentils (veg) - this was not a very big portion and what was there was fairly dry. It had a good flavor, especially with the fried onions on top. Definitely would order with a side of Tahini next time. Parking is plentiful, but it is tucked back in the shopping center can be hard to find. Service was very friendly but was really really slow. My two visits are years apart, but I always remember how deliciously creamy the hummus was on my first visit. There was an anniversary party with belly dancers performing. My most recent visit has seen a change. They have a buffet which looked appealing to my budget, but the time frame was 12 minutes so we ordered from the menu. A group of colleagues and I visited Mandaloun for dinner when a friend from Lebanon was in town. As we were enjoying celebratory occasions, we ordered the grand mezze platters, which came with a little bit of everything. Hummus, baba ganoush, kebbe, falafel, grape leaves, tabbouleh, and sambousek were brought out to start. The appetizers were served family style along with freshly baked pita bread and we ordered fattoush as well for some greens. The hummus and sambousek were my favorite appetizers and the bread was so soft and warm that I found myself going back for more and more. What surprised me was how good the fattoush dressing was. I could've eaten an entire salad by myself. Most of us were nearly full when lamb, beef, and chicken kabobs arrived, along with grilled vegetables, and rice. The lamb was really nicely prepared and had good flavor, along with the beef. I probably enjoyed the lamb chops a little more than the kebabs but both were very good. To end our meals, we had baklava, fresh fruit, nammoura, and halawet el jeben. While we all wanted to try their baklava, the rest of the desserts were chosen by the owner, which was great. He introduced most of us to the sweet cheese rolls, which complimented their very light, flaky, and not overly sweet baklava. I gravitated to the coconut and semolina pastries as well. Both times that we went, we were welcomed and treated like family by the owner. Along with the great hospitality, the food and atmosphere at Mandaloun made our experiences there top notch. I can't believe I haven't been here in over 10 years. Of course the last time I was in this spot, it was Venny's Italian which was a Jax staple for quite some time. Apparently this has been Mandaloun's location since 2008 so with that longevity, you know they're doing it right. I was invited for a business lunch and noticed the buffet upon walking into the pleasantly decorated dining area. It's primarily one big room with 2 sides almost all windows so lots of natural light. To keep things simple and have options, we decided on the buffet as it had something for everyone. It starts with many cold salads tabouleh, hummus, etc. along with pita. There were 3 x 3 sections of hot food afterwards with vegetarian offerings in the first trio. I opted for some cauliflower which looked interesting and later found out it was fried with tahini sauce - that stuff was a comebacker for sure. Other offerings included wild rice with lentils (my guess), roasted potatoes, baked chicken, some type of fish, and some kafta meatballs. All of it was good stuff! This was my first time here and first time trying Mediterranean/Lebanese food. It was DELICIOUS. Our waiter was very nice and helped us pick popular dishes. I can't wait to make a trip back to Jacksonville just to get some more grape leaves and fattoush. The restaurant itself was very quiet at 5pm. Haven't been here in a while. The first time was excellent. Service started out well with waiter's introduction and beverage orders. We recieved the menus, got the latest market price on the lamb shank and lamb chops. Perused the menu for 15-20 minutes, while the rest of the party arrived. Waiter came around to pour waters. Then our waiter disappears for 30 minutes. We look around and all the staff is gone and in the back. Finally they show up with our appetizer and pita bread. We do not let him leave before we give him our order for fish, lamb shank, kebabs, and stuffed cabbage. After waiting another 40 minutes, the plates arrive at the table. The lamb shanks are overly tender, the exterior of the meat is gray, the interior is a bright beet red. The flavor is bland. What happened to the Lebanese flavors and spices: paprika, tumeric, coriander, seven spice, kamouneh, pepper, salt, garlic, and yogurt? There were no signs of any of these spices or flavors. The lamb shank looks like it was old or had been treated with too much baking sode. The stuffed cabbage came out on a platter plain rather flavorless, no garlic, no salt, no pepper, no lemon. There was no evidence of olive oil or pomegranate molasses, no taste of mint leaves either. The sauteed fish was good with the tomatoe pepper sauce. If you order grilled or sauteed items they are better, stewed or boiled items were terrible. Too bad this place has lost its high level of food flavors and quality, efficient well honed service, and the ambiance is only saved by the weekend night's belly dancing. This place has had its hayday, too bad the waitstaff and food has gone downhill. The chef is a very nice guy. Will give this place a another chance in 6 months and see how things are progressing. read more

We found this restaurant from word of mouth on base. We picked out. This place is in a hidden part of the shopping center. Unless you are looking for it you will never find it. I suggest every one tries this place. You will be seated right away upon arrival. They have classy high end seating on the inside. They have lots of outside seating that is dog friendly. The inside also has painted muriel on the wall. We arrived just after 7 p.m. on a Friday night. There was a belly dancer putting on a show when we arrived. We have learned there is a belly dancing show 7,8,9 p.m. each Friday and Saturday. The food we ordered was well above average. This place had the best hummus we each have ever had. We were told the chef hand preps each item on the menu. Nothing is processed. You will be able to test that easily with each bite. We look forward to going back. Everything had a name to it but since Vanessa ordered I don't know them but they were all good! All I know is we split (3 of us) spinach pies, meat pies, humus, pita, beef/chicken/lamb kabobs, roasted potatoes, green salad, steamed carrots, broccoli, seasoned rich and a huge pita filled with seasoned chunks of chicken! Was in Jacksonville for an appointment this past week and decided to stop in here to get some lunch with a friend before heading back to Gainesville. This place was pretty good! It was a good Lebanese restaurant. We went in around 3:30 and the place was dead. We caught them in between lunch and dinner. We were the only table filled in the whole place. We had our choice of seats. We had a very attentive waiter, prob because we were the only ones there. We told the waiter it was our first time there. We both do not believe our waiter is Lebanese. I wish he was, because his recommendations were not the best. We started by getting several appetizers. We ordered Baba Ganoush, Hummus, and Tabbouleh. We didn't see until after we ordered all of these we could have ordered the combination appetizer that had all of these on it. Oh well it was just more for us to eat. The Baba Ganoush was really good and the Hummus was okay, but the tabbouleh had way to much cilantro in it and not enough salt and pepper. For our main dishes we both got the skewers. I got the combo which was 1 beef, 1 lamb, and 1 chicken. It came with your choice of rice, potatoes or salad and vegetables. I got the rice! The vegetables were amazing. They were steamed and covered in butter. What is not to like about that? The skewers were good. My favorite was the Lamb and the chicken. The beef was super well done and hard to chew. The beef was by far not the best! I wish the skewers had a dip. It would have taken the dish up to the next level! Overall it was a good meal. I would like to try other menu items if I went back. I've been going to Mandaloun for years and am very happy that it has pulled through the lockdown. The owner is a wonderful fellow and often comes out to mingle with patrons. He must treat his employees very well, as I've noticed that the waitstaff has remained almost unchanged for several years now! You'll find all the usual Lebanese fare here, authentic in every respect. I've had many of their appetizers and main courses, all of which have been good. My only complaint about the food is that the rice is a bit lackluster. If you are looking for Middle Eastern food in the Southside area, look no further! read more

I've never had this experience before. We reserved a table for 6 on Mother's Day at 7 pm online prior to coming in. When we got there we were asked if we had a reservation, and when we gave our names the girl looked through her list and said she did not have our reservation. My sister-in-law then asked if we were still able to sit, but the girl just walked away from us. She and another waiter came back and forth and said they'll seat us shortly. After about 10 minutes, we were finally seated. We looked around the restaurant and noticed that other people did not have food at their tables. It took the two waiters another 10 minutes to give us water. At this point, we notice the first table of people get up and leave the restaurant. We were confused as to why they were leaving but my sister-in-law pointed out that they never ate. It was also at this point that I noticed that the family that came in behind us was still not seated. They didn't come in too long after us, but they have been waiting for about 20 minutes now. I was starting to get annoyed because no one had come to take our order. My fiance was already annoyed with everyone that was working there, but he got up to take his little cousin to the bathroom. Impeccable timing because as soon as he walked in, one of the waiters came to our table and said that "they were out of supplies and are about to shut down." WHAT?! There are so many tables that haven't gotten their food and we've been seated despite the lack of supplies?! Someone should have seen this coming because who runs out of everything?? My mother-in-law asked, "how is that possible?" But we were met with poor apologies in response. The guy wouldn't leave, but I told him that it was ok and to leave before my fiance came back out. We left promptly afterward. What a horrible first impression of a restaurant. read more
