The Long Version: I have had Yemeni food several times before, including at Yemen Gate's original location on Bank St (this one in Orleans is their second location). However, my parents have never had Yemeni food and they love trying new cuisines, so I got them some Chicken Mandi to try. As luck would have it, they were having a special on UberEats. The quarter chicken Mandi was $15.95 buy one get one free. So I ordered on the app and went to pick it up since it's not far from my parents' house. Pick up was quick and efficient. Staff were courteous. The restaurant is nice inside with lots of seating. It looks like in the summer they have a patio out front. I was thrilled that one of the quarter chickens was a breast and wing and the other was a thigh and drumstick, so we got a mix of white and dark meat. My parents shared their food with me because sharing is caring, lol. So I had a little taste. It was even better than what I had at the Bank St location. The chicken was a bit on the small side but it was very moist, tender and fell off the bone. The rice was fluffy and flavourful and I loved the raisins, slivered almonds and fried onions in it. My parents also really enjoyed it. My dad loved that the flavour profile was different from anything he's ever had. I'll have to introduce them to the oat soup next time and maybe we can try the lamb Mandi. There's free parking on-site that's shared with neighbouring businesses. (209)

Our server was great , very friendly but I believe she encouraged us to over order by much much more.. like double the amount our group needed. So be vigilant when you ask about quantities! Loved it. The…read morespace is simple, bright and comfortable. Turquoise, pastels and earthy tones all oddly meld to make a comfortable space. Service was polite and helpful. I asked for a spoonful of the cucumber/tomato/mint side for hubs to try, before he decided on his order, and they graciously complied. He ended picking the slightly more adventurous dish (for him) as a result. I had the falafal bowl, also delicious. Both arrived nicely plated, er, bowled, and looking beautiful. I love when we manage to find delicious, overall healthy food options for a reasonable price.

This is a cashless store, and there are self serve kiosks when you walk in. Tap on the screen and order up some yummy food. I got the falafel bowl, with a lettuce base ($11.00), the hubby got beef and tahen bowl with a rice base ($14.00). Both bowls were devoured. I really enjoyed the falafel. They were spiced well, and a bit different than all the other falafel joints in Ottawa. I can't put my finger on it, but it was really good. I also really enjoyed how the lettuce in my bowl was chopped up finely. The texture was great. The hubby also wanted to try all the sides, because why not? Here's the breakdown: Labneh: Strained yogurt mixed with mint, za'atar, and cucumber, wrapped in saj bread and grilled ($6.00) This was the only app that we thought was OK. I mean, it was good, but it was basically pita wrapped in a yogurt sauce similar to taziki. It might be better to eat this one in the restaurant. Za'atar fries: ($4.00) These were amazing. It comes with your choice of hummus or garlic sauce. Fried cauliflower: ($6.00) Fried and dressed with a tahini sauce on top. Very good, but recommend eating it at the restaurant to maintain its crispiness. Also grabbed a bag of sumac pita chips. ($4.00) melt in your mouth, crispy, goodness. Highly recommend picking up a bag. They also have a sweet version. Garlic sauce: They nailed this sauce. It's perfect, and not too in your face, garlicky. Prices: Okay, so some of the prices are on the higher side, but you can taste the quality of the ingredients, so I don't mind shelling out some coin for some good food. If you've made it this far in my review (thank you) and if you have not checked out Bibi's yet, you are missing out. Seriously, go there and get yourself a bowl, or a wrap...or even just the fries. Everything tasted phenomenal.

The Long Version: I believe I have eaten at La Casablanca before but it was many years ago before I was on Yelp. Most recently I got food from here through the Too Good to Go app. (It's an app to reduce food wastage. Restaurants sell leftover/day-old food at a discounted price on the app. The catch is it's a surprise bag so you don't know what you're going to get.) I was on my way home and was walking by the restaurant and noticed they had a surprise bag for sale on the Too Good to Go app for $9.99 and I decided to buy it. The man prepared my meal by scooping various items in the warming trays into a takeout box. I got some chicken skewers, rice, roasted potatoes, cabbage, and a vegetable stew (which consisted of carrots, potatoes, bell peppers, and broccoli). I seemed to get a few rogue chickpeas too, lol. The food was flavorful and I liked the seasonings on it. I also liked the variety and that I got to try a little bit of different items. I felt it was a satisfactory deal for $9.99. However on the app it did list that the value of the surprise bag was $29.99, which I don't feel is true, lol. For the $10 I paid, I'll rate it as 4 stars. I'd give it half that rating though had I paid $30 for a takeout box of food (mostly vegetables and rice) from warming trays, lol. The restaurant is inside the Byward Market Square building so it's kind of food court-like but each restaurant has its own seating. The vibe is very casual. The man serving me was courteous. A good place for quick casual Moroccan food. Review #233 (2025)

Got to try the incredibly huge lamb shank. Such tender soft meat with amazing marinated flavor. Same goes with the chicken leg, that is also cooked similarly. Both dishes had complementary rice and vegetables. I tried the mix chicken shawarma too, another good item, that felt it needed a sauce on the side. The food is pre-made, so it comes out within minutes after ordering. They just warm it up and serve. The service is good overall.

We love Lebanese food as one of our best friends is from Lebanon and opened our eyes. It was sketchy walking in, it looked closed and the parking lot was empty other than 2 other cars. But, upon opening the door and making our way to the dining area it was much better. Clearly this used to be a BIG operation back in the day, but now looks like it is mostly for take out or quick meals. The dining area and kitchen were all bright and clean. The man behind the counter was very friendly and was happy to sell us a couple of falafel on the side. He custom makes each wrap and plate for the guest which is great. You can see the meat on the spits as well as all of the fresh veg and sauces. He takes his time to build it just right for us which was really nice. Good menu options, I would have liked to try more. We really enjoyed our mixed wrap. He was kind enough to put the hot sauce on one half and not the other. Both were great. The falafel was quite dry, and the sauce didn't really help much. Good flavor. Overall it is a solid option, I'd get it again in a pinch, but the meats and falafel were quite dry. Service was great, everything was fresh and it was a great stop for us.
