RATING FOR A HOLE IN THE WALL EATERY
We've passed by this tiny hole in the wall many times. On a whim, I decided to google them. Well, what do you know? They have a high rating online. They're by the corner of MacArthur Hwy & Surla St. Dining is al fresco with small plastic tables and chairs. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Both the chicken and the beef shawarmas were decent, but when you add the hot sauce (I'm warning you to use it sparingly) and garlic sauce, it is DELISH! The flat bread is made fresh and not the mass produced kind that you buy from the grocery store: it's soft and has that satisfying chew to it. The meats are cooked on the traditional vertical spit, where they also grill the flatbread. That little bit of char really adds to the overall flavor. Hubby commented that it was NOT the typical sweet Filipino shawarma; it's nice and savory, with crisp veggies. They're snack size, so you'll want to order more than one if you're going to make it a meal; but at P60 a piece, you can afford to splurge. If you like things hot, you'll want to get an extra hot sauce, the additional P5 is definitely worth it.
I thought I'd do my Yelp brothers and sisters a favor, and make a page for this awesome budget place. You're welcome! read more
