The authentic shawarma recipe is what set them apart from other middle eastern restaurants. The price points is actually affordable with a wide range of menu to choose from.

Not beautiful but really tasty falafel!

This branch has the most extensive menu across all their other branches that I know of, and the only one I've been to that has FALAFELS. See, I loooove falafels. I also happen to be vegan, so I love veggies. Veggies you say? Falafels are super tasty fried balls made of chickpeas! A lot of my meat-eater friends actually thought falafels are meat! For Php 85 you can get a decent-sized falafel sandwich. This one is different from the other falafels I've had in the metro, since this one has pickled vegetables inside. Something new and tangy for my tastebuds, but still very satisfying. Their falafels are very flavorful (and a tad bit salty for my taste, but still tasty!). Great meal, heavy enough for lunch if I might say so. This branch also sells some middle-Eastern food products. Check out the shelf by the door! They have canned hummus!

One of the best places for shawarma. Period. A friend of mine has told me about this place years before but I have not really put in any effort to come over due to it's distance. Parking would be a bit of an effort but it's all worth it. When you arrive you'll see two of the restaurant on both sides. According to the waitress, the smaller restaurant is the original and cheaper version while the newer one is a bit pricier but you get bigger servings. On to the food. I ordered the Beef kebab rice and the normal shawarma right. Right of the bat, when you see it, when you smell it, you'd know you'll be in for a treat. (The servings are surprisingly big). So whenever you're in Malate, try to make your way here, you won't regret it. Protip: Biryani rice. Get it!

I first encountered Shawarma Snack Center at the outskirts of BF Parañaque, during the height of the Shawarma Craze (For you millennials out there, that happened around the time most of you were born). Nowadays, there are a lot of middle eastern places in the city, and the offerings have become more diverse and authentic. Having said that, when I rediscovered SSC in Malate (It's the original one raw), it was like bumping into a long, lost friend. This time around, I ordered a combo keema plate for P250. It's borderline mahal for what you're getting, but it was pretty good and solid. I like the fact they have an aircon zone, but I avoided it because I didn't want to smell like the Mediterranean (Read: Meat). Still, I had a wonderful dinner over there, and I appreciate the fact I'm finding more and more reasons to hang out in Malate again.

I keep coming back to this place because of the freshly cooked (for the most part) kebabs and sundry other Middle Eastern delights. The mixed grilled rice platter comes highly recommended, bringing excellent taste at a price that won't bust the bank. Come whenever you want (it's open 24/7), but you're likely to enjoy it best in the wee hours after a few drinks.

Shawarma Snack Center is one of the few bastions of halal food in the metro where devout Muslims can enjoy familiar food without the fear of breaking the commandment of eating purely clean and "allowed" food in Islam. It is important that a halal restaurant has the certification, because it is every Muslim's obligation to make sure that everything he eats conforms with the Islamic laws. As a student of International Relations and as a lover of authentic Middle Eastern food, I have come to appreciate SSC's commitment to halal guidelines and cleanliness standards. Aside from the halal certification, what keeps me, locals and tourists coming back to this joint is the mouthwatering Middle Eastern and Arabic fare. The place is usually filled with expats from Middle Eastern countries, signifying that it is where we should go if we want the real deal. The surrounding areas could be quite sketchy, but it is fairly easy to go to. Just a few minutes walk from Robinson's Manila, one could easily find it after asking a few questions from security guards watching other businesses in the area. I would usually start with a big plate of hummus and their pita bread, and follow it with the Arabian shawarma meal, which is a generous serving of marinated and grilled beef wrapped in pita with vegetables and pickles. On occasion, I would also order the mutton and biryani plate, which is so full of flavor and aroma. I also love the falafel sandwhich, which is an option for when I want to eat light and healthy. I would cap off a meal with their strong Turkish coffee. I once celebrated the Ramadan fast with a couple of Muslim friends, and SSC is where we would break our fasts (iftar) at sundown (they would give away pitted and sweetened dates for free). They also have TV screens which telecast football games round the clock. I always bring friends here to let them sample what authentic shawarma should taste like. I make it a point to come back every once in a while, or when i'm in the area.

Kebab in Tomato Sauce, plus rice, addas soup and salad. Budget meal.

The food was good. The rice was excellent and the pita bread was great. Favorite middle eastern restaurants in the area.

Coffee shops are always packed and coworking space is not a thing in Quezon City. My colleague and I ended up finding place in ITC Building at Panay avenue, it is just few blocks away from Quezon ave. Beiruti bites is at the 2nd floor. It was quiet with only 2 occupied tables. The design is heavily inspired by modern middle east setting. They serve true lebanese food. Still full from a heavy lunch so we ordered lightweight snacks to munch on. Hummus P130 and deep fried falafel P160. Food is plated nicely. The strawberry yogurt shake is a good-tasting cooler too. It took a while for orders to arrive. We kindly requested for water but it was only responded on our third call. Despite the slow service, we're still interested to come back dinner time to try the grilled meat platter mixed with Beef, Shish Taouk (Chicken), Kafta (Ground Beef).

Beiruti Bite is a small, Lebanese restaurant that specializes in their local cuisine, from kebabs,…read moreshawarmas, to grilled pies. It is located along Panay Ave., in the same building as the BPI at the corner of Timog, but the sign isn't visible from the outside. Some of the people in our group missed it the first time they pass the street. As a 'big' family, we ordered tons of stuffs from the menu just to try each one. Sambusek (cheese). It was a Lebanese spring rolls folded into a small, triangle envelope. It was similar to the Greek spanakopita, but was filled with just cheese, their local cheese. The cheese wasn't that salty and cheezy, like what we grew up with. It was nice and crunchy. It was served with a spicy, yogurt dip that complimented and gave the cheese life. Beef Shawarma Plate was really good. The beef was spiced and flavorful. It was cooked just right. And the pickles on the side was really sour! I was surprised, expecting to be the same as the German pickles, salty, sour, and crisp. But was good. Shish Taouk was large chunks of chicken marinated in yogurt and spices, skewered with onions and bell peppers, similar to the Kebab Skewers we know. The chicken was moist and flavorful. I didn't expect it to be like this, it was really good. Lahme B Aajine was a minced meat pie. Similar to a quesadilla, but made with a freshly made pita bread. The only problem I had was the ground meat was old. It didn't tasted fresh and there's a smell that signals this meat is going to be spoiled sooner than later. It is similar to the ground meats that is sold in grocery stores that has a slightly foul odor due to meat handling. The food was great, but the service was bad! Our orders got confused and we were the first customer to arrive in our batch and was last to be served. There was only one chef (Lebanese) in the kitchen, which is the owner, with 2 assistants inside. I pity the server, because she was in the middle of the situation and was teary eyed. We just kept on following up our orders. Some orders took more than an hour to arrive.  I'm hoping on my next visit, it wouldn't be this bad. The food was really good and authentic. Something I would go back there for.  P.S. I rarely rate service as part of my rate, but this time, it was abit worse. #TheFoodCrawlers #OngsFoodprints #TheLostDiego

Maybe it's the fact that you get a whole pita bread. Maybe it's the vegetables that come with it. Maybe it's the fact that the meat is cooked over heat rather than fried which makes it feel good. Either way, a good wrap is good eats. Meshwe is definitely good eats but with a few "ehh" moments. Firstly, the fries. The fries are divine. Meshwe calls them Arabic fries and I have no idea what combination of spices they use with these shoestrings but I say keep em coming! They're the kind of fries that don't need ketchup or mustard or salt. They're delectable on their own especially when coupled with that wonderful garlic sauce. Now that's flavor I dream of for days afterward, I kid you not. Thankfully Meshwe offers a sample plate with their fries, 2 sambousak (kind of like samosas) and pita chips. Now for the ehh moment. Those pita chips, delectable as they are when warm are kind of... hard. Sure, they're crunchy when fresh and hot but eventually, they get kinda hard. Your mileage may vary, of course. But let's get to the main course. The shawarma. You can either get it as a shawarma, a shawarma plate (ie, a deconstructed shawarma) and with rice. My one gripe though is that it comes off as a little dry. Maybe it's the fact that I keep ordering the plate which gives you the sauce (I could write litanies about that sauce it's so good) on the side. And that, quite honestly, is my only ehh moment when it comes to the shawarma. It's tasty, yes. Certainly worth the price you pay for it but it just seems a little lacking in the juicy department. However, I can say that the flavors are good enough that it keeps me coming back when I need a quick meal.

I love that they have a flavorful falafel that can rival any falafel in town. It is chunky, flavorful and delicious, and the wrap comes with a generous helping of fresh vegetables and a surprise element - a few pieces of french fries - which makes this a very heavy and satisfying dish. It is a good vegetarian option for herbivores like me, and it is good when coupled with their hummus (creamy and just the right consistency) and the baba ganoush (which is perfectly smoky and yummy, especially with their warm pita). They run out of their shawarma really fast, so it's best to come early. That tells you that their food is great. What I don't get, though, is why my orders usually take FOREVER, even when I can clearly see that there is no one else queuing. Surely, it doesn't take that long to fry a falafel? Or it doesn't take that long to assemble a wrap since the ingredients area already prepared mise en place. The sluggish service makes a really bad impression. Good thing the food more than makes up for that. And the cool guys Noel and Nathan, who man the store, are always cheerful and nice.
