Absolutely love the food and the service here. Easy to order carry out via the phone and online. Tonight, dinner consisted of beef and chicken kabob dinners, Baba Ghanouj, falafel wrap, lamb chop dinner and baklava. All very flavorful and perfectly cooked. The hummus is incredible. Well packaged for carry out as well. Great option in a village filled with chain restaurants. read more

Shawarma King - Chicken Kabob Meal. #Delicious - Falafel Near Me - Gurnee, Illinois

Delicious! We ordered the six person shawarma, but we were two adults and three elementary school aged kids. So it was a huge amount of food! None the less it was tasty! And leftovers so yay! read more

Shawarma King - Six person shawarma - Falafel Near Me - Gurnee, Illinois

Great, flavorful food that's freshly prepared, good portion sizes, quick service. We had a nice relaxing lunch.

Negative stars as far as we're concerned. Shawarma was tough and dry. Sandwich was really a wrap. Concoction was odd, pickles ends, large cut onions and some kind cream sauce. GARBAGE. Find another place people. Had to choose a star to post. read more

Great food and impressive customer service; first time eating here and they were so helpful as I was worried about the food being hot spicy (yep I definitely a midwestern girl). Saw how the meat is cooked, very cool. read more

Friendly staff and amazing food, definitely recommend! Best Shawarma I have had in a very long time! The setting of dinning in is also very calm and relaxing. read more

Ordered a gyro. Not good. Small portion, very little veggies, salty, pita is not fresh and tasted stale...

I got the chicken kabob meal and my friend got the chicken shawarma meal, they were both so good! The chicken kabob was super flavorful and tender and the rice and all the sides complimented it perfectly! The staff were so friendly and service was great! Would definitely recommend :) read more

Shawarma King - Chicken Kabob Meal and Chicken Shawarma Meal - Falafel Near Me - Gurnee, Illinois

This place really is KING when it comes to shawarma! HUGE portions and quality fresh food for the shawarma. The funny thing is pretty much anything else is "meh" here. Meh lentil soup, meh falafel, meh hummus and on. But the shawarma is at least top 3 best I've ever had. Though again, the bland other food makes me think 2X's about not giving this place 5 stars or even possibly trying it again unless I have a real taste for just shawarma read more

I wanted to give this place a 5 star rating because the owners are sooo nice. The menu has some classic middle eastern delights. I ordered a beef kabob and it was good, but I prefer a different middle eastern place. The kabob here lacked some flavor. It came with some pickles that were delicious and a little cabbage salad that I didn't prefer. The hummus was solid, and the yellow rice had a nice flavor but I wish I could have a fattoush salad instead. Lots of wraps on the menu. I should have tried the falafel, which I heard was good. I tasted the spicy chicken kabob off my hubby's plate and it was my favorite bite. read more

Great food and you are getting your what you paying for. Staff is friendly and welcoming!

This is a recently opened halal middle eastern restaurant. I read good things about this place, so I decided to stop by. It looks fairly unassuming, but the inside is well decorated and modern. There is some seating available, but they have takeout and third party delivery available, too. I've been here a few times, and it seems like the same few people are running it every time I've been there, so I assume it is a family operation. They are extremely friendly, and you can immediately tell they have passion and care for the food, as well. The menu is not huge, and it focuses on shawarma, falafel, and the usual accompaniments to these items. The prices are fairly standard, and even good considering the quality of the ingredients and amount of food. Every shawarma meal comes with salad, hummus, pita, rice, picked onion, and is easily enough for two servings (even though I usually eat it all in one...) As far as the food goes, the meat that I've had has been absolutely perfect: extremely tender and well spiced. This food is seriously loaded with flavor. I crave it nonstop. I've eaten at middle eastern restaurants all over the country, and this is up there with the best places I've been to. Cheers to these guys for finding a niche, and I'm sure they will be extremely successful. I highly reccommend that everyone tries this place out, and I know I'll be going at least once a week. read more

Shawarma King - Falafel sandwich, Falafel 6 pcs, hummus, hummus with meat, beef kabob with rice, jerusalem salad and pita bread. - Falafel Near Me - Gurnee, Illinois

Absolutely awesome food! We come here whenever we come to town, and it brings us back to the time we spent in the middle east. Beef kabobs, chicken shawarma, mixed grill were all excellent, and the service reminds us of the wonderful hospitality we enjoyed living over there. Can't wait until our next visit up here. read more

Absolutely phenomenal Mediterranean food! The food is fresh and flavorful. My favorite place for shawarma in the area! Definitely recommend although it is a little bit pricey compared to other Mediterranean places as it's nearly $20 per plate but to be fair, it is worth it. Highly recommend! read more

Absolutely amazing food! More than generous portions with abundant spices but not overpowering. The manager was so generous with his time in explaining the food to the uninitiated that it felt like a family dinner. Unpretentious in appearance the food and atmosphere is well worth the trip to get there if you are nearby. It felt very much like a small Mediterranean food stall, but cleaner. I can't recommend it high enough other than to say I walked away fat, dumb, and happy. read more

Our first visit today, we will be back and often. Oh boy the hummus is incredible, smooth and tangy, with a drizzle of olive oil, best I have ever had, not like the stuff in the grocery store. The falafel is crispy and tender (yes both words) so tasty! The beef kabob - the beef is melt in your mouth tender and the spices are delicious. The rice, the spices ... yum! Wow!!! The chicken shawarma... so delicious, juicy and beautifully seasoned, amazing. Large portions, you will have leftovers or share ... I'm not sharing though lol. I'm already planning my next visit... read more

Friends and I needed a quick lunch - staff was very friendly, and the food is delicious!! Am an avid hummus lover - you can definitely taste the quality of the olive oil they used. Even bought a large hummus to go. read more

If you love Middle Eastern food then you have to give this place a try! This place does all the favorites really really well with more flavor IMO compared to the other places in the Chicagoland area. If you like middle eastern food, check this new place out in the area. The food is fantastic, dare I say better then pita inn? Absolutely!! The meat, rice, everything is perfectly seasoned and the flavors are just exploding! I read some one complained about the prices being high, I disagree, for fantastic food such as what Shawarma King is offering, it's worth it in my opinion. If you live in the area or visiting, definitely check it out, you won't be disappointed! Also the owners appear to take high pride in their food and since it was my first time there they let me try a sample and it was delish! I will be a regular at this place for sure moving forward, no more long drive from Gurnee to Mundelein for Pita Inn, don't get me wrong I love pita inn as well, but I think this place has more flavors! read more

I usually get the falafel sandwich and it's super delish! My bf has certain food restrictions and they always do a good job when it comes to customizing his order. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in the area. I always get the chicken kebab dinner, because I'm a creature of habit. It comes with seasoned rice topped with onions and herbs, cabbage salad, pickles, hummus, and pita. Everything is so delicious and fresh tasting, every time. The only thing I don't eat is the pita because it doesn't seem like it was made that day (not old, but not fresh, if that makes sense), and anyway there's plenty of rice. If you ask for hot sauce they will throw it in, it's very good, and I'm pretty sure it's homemade. I bet they would do great with catering. read more

We were a group of 9 coming after a long day at six flags, all of us absolutely loved the food! The chicken shawarma wraps were our favorite but we tried other menu items like the beef shawarma, kufta skewers and falafel which we also loved. The hummus was our least favorite so I cannot recommend. The staff were super nice and helpful and gave us fries on the house after a mixup with the orders. Price was reasonable too. Overall 10/10 would definitely recommend. read more

I'm kind of sad that I didn't know this place was here. The chicken and beef shawarma was authentic and delicious; the spices on the chicken and shrimp kabobs were unique and amazing. If you live in the area or you're just passing through you should absolutely stop here and have a very enjoyable meal. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. read more

First impression, wow! The smell and the taste blew me away . Trust me on this, if this is your first time going you should go with the mixed grill and try a little bit of everything. Everything is homemade and omg the hummus is delicious. Ask for the chef sauce and try it with your rice! You won't be disappointed. Great hospitality. read more

So good! Holy crap seriously do not skip this place. 1000% better than pita Inn. Food was seasoned well and good sized portions. Pricing was fair. Absolutely can't wait to order again read more

If you're looking for a hearty Mediterranean style Schwarma meal then I would recommend this. It's a little pricy but I attribute that to recent issues with inflation. Worth the money read more

What a great addition to Gurnee!! We love middle eastern food, and this place is absolutely delicious! The staff is SUPER friendly, on my first visit there with my daughter, they took us back to show her how they cut the shawarma, and gave her a little tray full to sample while we were waiting for our to go order. It was ok. Everything had tons of tahini already added on top. The Jerusalem salad was bad, like it went bad and they didn't check it when they were packing it, and when we opened it it smelled bad and it tasted fermented. We ordered at night but it wasn't late, it was Monday though so I guess the food isn't that fresh on slow days. The chicken was overly seasoned and salty. read more

The absolute best shawarma and food I've had since I've left Egypt! It seriously reminds me of my childhood. This place is super authentic and very delicious, and super affordable! The owner was very kind and very welcoming and gave us tons of tips on sightseeing in the area. We were in town visiting from Minnesota for a soccer tournament and we will definitely be back before hitting the road!
