This place is AMAZING!! The food is amazingly delicious! I literally had a food orgasm . The owner of the restaurant is the nicest guy I ever met, he came to our table like 10 times asking how everything was, and gifting us Palestinian cakes to-go. So yum! read more

The first time was average at best, second time was even worse. My chicken shawarma was falling apart before I could even take it out of the foil and chicken was dry. read more

Food was amazing! Will definitely be coming back! Loved the falafels and the grilled meal was amazing! Be sure to ask for garlic sauce on the side, you won't regret it! read more

The bald guy at the cash register is too busy wanting to argue with you then to listen to your order. Have never had such a rude cashier in this town. read more

Good food but no sauce included in the meal also chunks of fats on the meat and baklava very dry

Shawarma King is good but it's no Pita Inn. The prices are outrageous and the portions are small. $40 for beef and chicken Shawarma and a small order of falafel? They were also a bit stingy with the sauce. Yeah, I got it delivered so there were additional fees but still... C'mon now. $40??? read more

We are so glad this place opened up by us, even though it is still a bit too far. However it is so good! The meat is super tender and perfectly cooked. We had not found a place as good as this one over in the suburbs. Usually we go to the city for good Middle Eastern. We are glad we now have them as an option, specially during this crazy pandemic. read more

Staff is very friendly and inviting. Food was delicious, well-seasoned, and highly flavorful! Generous portion of meat. I had the mixed grill ( beef kabob, chicken kabob, chicken shawarma, and kifta kabob, which I split into two meals. All the meat was tender and flavorful. I highly recommend and I will be back again. read more

Shawarma King - Mixed Grill Meal - Falafel Near Me - Gurnee, Illinois

I was say average. Guy running the register was pretty rude. Never been there and he through attitude when I had a question about a dish. Good portions, above average price. Food was ok but it falls way short of Pita inn and a few other Chicago restaurants that are similar. Hummus was definitely best part of the Beef and Chicken Shawarma meal. read more

Truly authentic Middle Eastern food! The falafel, hummus, chicken and beef shawarma were absolutely delicious and the staff was very nice. I will definitely be going back and will be recommending to friends! read more

Probably the best falafel I've had - perfectly cooked and seasoned, delicious even with no sauce. Will definitely be back for falafel, which I love! Both the chicken and beef shawarma were so good, again, perfectly seasoned, but the beef was my favorite - and I don't usually eat beef unless it's a Ruth's Chris filet mignon! The two gentlemen working were so friendly and enthusiastic about their food. I love going to restaurants where the people are excited to share their culture with you! The interior is clean and neat with a few tables to sit at. I'm so excited to have a middle eastern restaurant so near my house - yay! Highly recommend Shawarma King read more

Man, I really wanted to like this place. Based on my fellow Yelpers, I thought I would be smiling from ear to ear at the first bite...but not the case. Stopped in for a beef shawarma wrap based on the the menu pictures on here from just a few months ago. My wrap ridiculously salty and sour (perhaps from the over-abundance of pickles). Also, it only had the meat, pickles, onions, and a spicy sauce that I requested. The sauce was NOT the least bit spicy. I just feel that for $9 and change after tax, there should be a bit of hummus, maybe a little rice, some salad perhaps...something more than what was in there. As it was, it should've been around $8 out the door. I know, it's only a dollar and some change difference, but then add one or more of the above suggestions, and I'll happily pay. Although the grilled the wrap before packaging it, the meat was unfortunately lukewarm and rather chewy. Really disappointed, I expected much better based on the reviews here. Maybe I just chose a bad day? read more

Exceptional food and service! Went their three times with different groups. Phenomenal each time. It's like being welcomed into the owners home. Highly recommend the food here. We tried the mixed grill, chicken shawarma, kibee, hummus, veggie platter, and Jerusalem salad. read more

I've been on a Mediterranean food kick and saw the signage from the road! Brand new location and wow what fantastic management - we were treated like kings ourselves! Told them it was our first time in and they let us sample and try their meat selections and falafel! Absolutely excellent seasonings and mouth-watering flavors. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, everything we had was delicious! The meals appear a little on the pricey side, but you get everything you could need. At other Mediterranean restaurants pita and hummus is often an extra side, but it's included here, as well as delicious rice and a salad to eat with the meals. We ordered the chicken and beef shawarma meal and the beef shawarma meal. The meat is tender and delectably well-seasoned and crispy. The rice had amazing flavor and sauces were wonderful (tahini especially). Some of the best, freshest falafel I've ever had. I will definitely be going here again! read more

Delicious food. Great flavor and seasoned well. we love their kibbeh, they're so good!

He charged over $10 for a bowl completely full of overly dry rice. I tried lemon but the rice was stale and wouldn't absorb it. I went in to tell him and he stole my money. Refused to make anything else. This looked like the owner. read more

The food came very quick, was hot fresh. We ordered the mixed grill, chicken kabob dinner and the fattoush salad. Excellent choice . Meat was very tender and moist. Amazing beef kabob which is made from filet mignon. Best Mediterranean food I've had in a long time. Would definitely recommend!

Tried their food today for the first time and discovered the amazing flavors I've been missing! As of today, I have a new favorite restaurant! Great quality and generous servings. If you like ethnic foods, and lots of flavor, then this is the place! Absolutely delicious! read more

This place - wow! Just so so so good. I had a chance to taste a number of the menu offerings and each one was distinctive, savory, and well - just amazing. The hummus - so fresh, pure flavors melding together. It is good on pita and everything else. The shawarma - chicken and beef are so tender with the rice that has just the right amount of seasoning that you don't want to stop eating it! The garlic sauce - yes it is made fresh and is the perfect on top of the shawarma or with the falafel - which is the best I have ever tasted! The baba ghanouj is fresh and well just perfect. Baklava for dessert. You can't go wrong here and they will let you try the shawarma if you have not tried it before. They want you to love the food as much as they love making it for you. The restaurant is super clean, newly renovated and you can dine inside, outside or take it to go. We are so lucky to have Shawarma King here in Gurnee. read more

This place serves best shawarma food. I don't agree to any of negative reviews here!! I've here many times and other places as well. I know what is good shawarma place. This place is best. I'm glad most people give this place a good review! read more

Went here after seeing reviews on yelp. It was delicious! I had the chicken Shawarma meal. The chicken was moist and perfectly seasoned. There was a generous bed of rice underneath it. The hummus was delicious and fresh, and the pita bread was warm! They went out of their way to make sure that none of the meal components had an ingredient to which I am very allergic. The service was awesome. I have already told all my friends about it, and I will definitely be back for more. read more

This restaurant is amazing! Their shawarma is seasoned to perfection. My sandwich was enough for two meals, but I didn't have the willpower to save it. I also highly recommend the lentil soup, served with warm pita bread. Their fattoush salad is crunchy with just a bit of spice, and my husband loved the falafel. The service was friendly and professional. It is a counter-service restaurant, but it has plenty of tables, and the videos of food being grilled will whet your appetite almost as much as the amazing smells from the kitchen. Shawarma King is only 4 minutes from Six Flags, and it's the perfect place to refresh a tired, hungry family after a day at the park. read more

Tried Shawarma King for the first time today and had an excellent Jerusalem lunch. We tried the Mixed Grill which was a variety of Kabob, Shawarma, Chicken and Kifta served on top of a delicious yellow rice with hummus and pita. The Mixed Grill was excellent and the owner told us he uses imported spices to season the foods which made everything we tried very flavorful! Hard to say what was our favorite as the Beef Shawarma, Beef Kabob and Hummus were all fantastic. Do yourself a favor and give Shawarma King a try! If you are like my family and I and not overly experienced with Middle East cuisine, this is an excellent place to try as the owner took time to explain the menu and was very nice and welcoming to us. The owner even offered us a sample of Falafel to try which was very kind. The restaurant and dining area were very clean and tidy inside which was reassuring. Give Shawarma King a try for yourself and you will see why they earn 5 star reviews! read more

I have been to 4-5 Middle Eastern restaurants. I may not be an expert. But I am an expert foodie and cook. I know good food. I tried the falafel sandwich. The hummus. The Jerusalem salad. And the Baba Ghanoush. All 4 were beyond the finest approach to this cuisine I have ever tasted. I will be back! I have been back several times. Still the best Middle Eastern food I have ever enjoyed! read more
