We've purchased Shaw flooring on multiple occasions, and unfortunately, each experience has been disappointing. In 2020, we installed Shaw LVP flooring. When issues developed, I submitted multiple examples under warranty, but the claim was initially denied. Only after filing a complaint through the BBB did Shaw finally approve the claim--after a frustrating and drawn-out process. We decided to give Shaw another chance in 2021 and selected engineered hardwood to replace the original product. While the flooring looked great initially, by 2025 it began splitting across the face of the boards in several areas. I filed another warranty claim, but it was again rejected. Shaw's explanation was that the product "passed the adhesion test," which completely missed the actual issue--the surface of the planks is splitting, not peeling. You can actually see the substrate below the wood. Some areas have splinters sticking up which is now a danger to anyone without shoes. Their response to this is that the flooring installed "is classified as a rustic grade, which inherently includes natural characteristics such as splits". The third-party inspector's report inaccurately described the problem as "local scratches," even though the boards are clearly splitting and continue to worsen. After two poor experiences with different Shaw products and unhelpful warranty handling, I will be replacing this flooring and will not purchase Shaw products again. I recommend others avoid Shaw flooring as well. Adding on 1/4/2026 I wanted to provide an update on my follow-up with Shaw Industries. I spoke with a representative and shared additional photos of the flooring damage. Their official response was that "the grade of wood used in the style you purchased has a tolerance for open graining. The photos you have provided so far, as well as the images included in the inspection report -- do not show anything outside of the manufacturing tolerance for this product." I completely disagree with this conclusion. Since posting photos here and supplying them to Shaw, additional splits have developed across the surface of the engineered hardwood. These are not cosmetic scratches; the wood itself is splitting. I understand that natural wood products can have variation, but splitting across the finished surface should not be expected performance. In the photos you often see the white core of the flooring through the splits. This cannot be acceptable for any flooring product. I'm sharing new photos here so others can see what we are experiencing firsthand. Based on my repeated product failures and the warranty response I've received, I cannot recommend Shaw products to others. read more

When I was installing a new flooring, I was impressed with a new product Pergo. A local flooring company suggested a product from Shaw industries. It was as good as or better than Pergo. Now, after problems with peeling, chipping and degradation Shaw Industries, customer service refuses to even look at the problem. This flooring is a joke. I had a laminate in my house from them and in the last 4 years it has been "fixed or replaced" 5 times. It is still warping, uplifting and bubbling and now I am left to replace the floor at my cost. Had flooring installed but did not match samples we were shown when deciding what flooring to choose. Since then Shaw industries has lied to us about replacing tiles that are full of black spots. Zero honesty and integrity. Do not purchase from these dishonest people. Could not find one good review about them. Flooring company we bought from and the installer also no help. I showed pictures to my lawyer of the samples I chose from compared to what was installed and he told me most to worry. Saying we will win in court if we sue Shaw industries. The flooring company we bought from is going ahead with litigation because we stopped payment. Credit card company also saw pictures and gave us full refund. Zero star rating from us. read more

Do not buy Cortec Plus Vinyl plank flooring!! It is so soft, a standard kitchen chair with pads on bottom of legs will put dents in. In less then a month a $1800 + floor is ruined. There warranty states hard surface products are not covered from dents and scratches, this is not a hard surface product. Shaw / US floors will not back their product. I wish I would have known before, I would have never installed this terrible product. I will post this on all social media , yelp and will be going to the BBB. We were sold Shaw floors Acme Brick in Birmingham, Alabama - in fact when our original selection was backordered, Acme told us we were getting an "upgrade" in Shaw because of the "lifetime warranty" and how durable they were, WHAT A JOKE. These floors are a disaster!!! After less than a year they began peeling and splitting...now after only 4 years they look HORRIBLE and we are going to have to replace before reselling our home. Just looking at it now puts me in a bad mood - it makes our otherwise nice home look so shabby. Reassured by the warranty, we filed a claim. After MONTHS of no response, I finally got from Acme, an inspector from Shaw came out to view. He told me personally he wouldn't be happy with this floor if he were the homeowner, but yet, Shaw is passing the buck and saying the damage must be because of how it was installed. Meanwhile, our floor gets more and more worn with every day, looking worse and worse. We are going to have to figure out a solution before we resell our house, which let me remind you is only 4 years old! I have received no apology from Acme or Shaw. My home was flooded during hurricane Harvey. I selected an Anderson engineered hardwood floor from Shaw Floor. Two days into the installation, I noticed that the floor had a strange hollow sound. I stopped the contractor from installing the remaining ~600sqft. Shaw was contacted. I was told that a claim had to be initiated with the dealer. This was done. An inspector named Raymond came to my home some 2 weeks later stressing that he was an independent inspector and "did not" work for Shaw. The veneer separated. The wood came apart in layers within two days of being out of the box. The Shaw MC35 glue was also defective. It turned to powder and didn't stick well at all to the foundation. Shaw refunded the purchase of the wood to the dealer. I had to place several credit disputes on my CC. I gave Shaw reasonable options for resolving this matter. I allowed them to make the decision to send their people to remove the floor and reimburse me for the out of pocket expense for the glue and labor already spent on the original removal and installation. They leaned back on their warranty stating that they would accommodate up to 8 dollars per square foot if I went back with their product. Obviously, the strong arm tactic failed. The wood was literally rotten inside. One cannot see this until it is split. We noticed this during the removal process. The wood was TOTAL GARBAGE!!! Aside from the fact that they had nothing else I liked for my home, they made no effort to make this situation right. I contacted Shaw directly and spoke with a condescending woman by the name of Kala Childers. Kala DOT Childers at ShawInc.com. We got into a disagreement over the definition of slander. I had to explain to her that telling the truth isn't slander. Furthermore, the videos and photos tell the story far better than I can. This being said, I have purchased two domain names shawfloors.org and shawfloors.us. I will post these videos and photos as soon as I have the site built in the coming days. Buyer Beware!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm very unhappy with a product I had installed 7 months ago that is warranted for 10 plus years. It has failed in 7 months and Shaw is refusing to uphold their warranty. The boards are buckling and bubbling up in many places... Why have a warranty if it is not going to be upheld? Before installing, my installers called Shaw directly to ask questions about the installation and they followed the instructions. Unfortunately, I did not have my installers write down the time, date and person they talked to at Shaw... so now I'm stuck dealing with this mess. Uggg. We called Shaw directly and they required we go through our dealer to file a warranty issue claim. Luckily we bought from a dealer and not Home Depot or Lowes. So after calling our dealer, Shaw takes over a week and then they send out an independent wood inspector. He inspects and hounds us about what temperature we keep the house and what we clean the floors with. Really?? We keep the house at 72 degrees and clean the floor with a mix of water and vinegar... normal mopping procedure for wood floors. After all of that, we get this letter: This letter is acknowledgment of a complaint registered against invoice #6304305, dated 10/03/2014 style #HL255-High Country II, color #00839-Kings Canyon Cherry. The claim states concerns are raised/buckled boards. The material was independently inspected on 05/07/2015. The inspection report indicates the issues are installation related. D.R. Horton was sent a return receipt letter on March 12, 2019 to the attention of Mr. David V. Auld, President (at 1341 Horton Circle in Arlington, Texas 76011.) As of today - July, 29, 2019 NO RESPONSE! SAD that homeowners are treated in this manner. Details of the issue below - In December of 2013, we were informed that due to ALL our molding separating from the walls that ALL of our laminate flooring needed to be replaced, as the flooring was NEVER properly acclimated according to the manufacturer's instructions - prior to the installation. This was a BIG inconvenience, after all our furniture was moved in to OUR BRAND NEW HOME and we were situated with the holidays in progress. Nevertheless, Classic Floors completed the installation in December of 2013 and we were given an additional year on the installation warranty. In August of 2018, we returned from a trip out of town and NOTICED immediately upon our return that our floor was warping, separating at the joints, and delaminating. Immediately we contacted the warranty department at D.R. Horton to make them aware of this issue and our claim was "denied". We then proceeded to contact Classic Floors and of course, Classic Floors stated the installation was out of warranty - which we were well aware of this. I explained the floor was WARPING and asked that a claim be submitted with the flooring manufacturer - SHAW and they REFUSED, to do so. After contacting SHAW directly, I was instructed by SHAW to contact Classic Floors and advise them a claim needed to be submitted. Nevertheless, this was a long cumbersome process and we had to continue to follow up to check on the status of our claim. SHAW did send a third party out to inspect the floor. I contacted SHAW to receive a copy of the inspection in December 2018 and SHAW stated they were unable to release this to me. I then contacted Classic Floors numerous times to obtain a copy of the inspection, uncertain why the CUSTOMER could not see this inspection. It was documented in the inspection there may have been some kind of leak - ABSOLTUTELY NOT THE CASE and that they were uncertain if a barrier was put between the concrete and the laminate flooring. The box of the remaining materials states that a vapor/moisture barrier "MUST be installed with this flooring" on concrete surfaces, and that was NOT the case, as I have pictures of the second installation in December of 2013. Lastly, we hired a home inspector to advise us of what the issue was and why this was transpiring in our home - ONCE AGAIN it was attributed to "NO VAPOR BARRIER" being installed between the concrete and laminate flooring. I think it is disgraceful that D.R. Horton, Classic Floors and SHAW will NOT take ANY responsibility for rectifying this ongoing issue. Our second laminate floor was installed in December of 2013 and the installation was warrantied per Classic Floors for an additional year - until December of 2014, so this floor should ONLY last for approximately 5 years? I think that is absolutely absurd and UNACCEPTABLE - that flooring should last for this short time frame. NO response from DR Horton, president (above)! Classic Floors taking NO responsibility and either is the manufacturer - SHAW, Very SAD as it is going to cost $8,000 - $10,000 out of our pocket to replace the floors (1,199 sq ft.) for the THIRD time! Would not recommend buying anything from them! We bought a floor from them and in 1 year it came apart. The flooring had a 26 year warranty but they would not do anything. I was told that it was an install error, do to the padding that was put under it. They problem I have with this is they sold the padding to put under it!!!!! read more

Don't throw away your money!!!! There was a time when buying American-made meant that you bought quality and could rely on good craftsmanship and durability. Shaw flooring is American-made. I was assured that they had very high quality flooring. I purchased 5 inch wide various length maple engineered boards for my floor. Here is a list of the issues that the professional installer, of 12 years recommended by the distributor, and I found: l Several boards that were tongue or groove on both opposite sides. rather than one each. l Boards that had the quality control inspectors initials and line indicating it was a reject. l Boards that looked more like hickory or barn wood than maple. l Boards that curled so badly when they hit the glue they had to be pulled off. l Boards with saw burn marks and bounce marks where the board was pulled too quickly through the planner, I happen to be a woodworker. Extremely poor quality product. And I still question why have an inspector inspecting your production line if you're just going to package the rejects anyway. I was told upfront by my installer that a floor inspector will always favor the manufacturer. The report will always say it was installed incorrectly. Well after the floor was laid I found that some of the boards bent up slightly and called Shaw asking them to cover cost of replacement. Here is a copy and paste from the report where Shaw the manufacturer excuses there poor quality of product. Shaw installation instructions state: "Inspect the Flooring - Inspect material for color, finish, milling, and grade. Hold out pieces that may not be acceptable once installed. PLEASE NOTE: We do not accept responsibility for any costs incurred when plank(s) with visible defects have been permanently installed." If milling was checked before installation, the proud edges would have been seen. Those planks should not have been installed. As you can see Shaw the manufacture of this flooring is putting the burden of quality control for their product on the consumer. When you buy the floor Shaw's warranty is only valid as long as you do the quality control and sorting for them. The consumer now has to be a flooring expert so as to do the quality control job. Shaw's lifetime warranty is therefore empty and meaningless. It appears to only be there to gain sales. So the question may come up as to really, how many boards were really bad? I used 64 cases. More than 20 cases had problems, by the way the distributor gave me store credit for 2 cases. My conclusion is the overseas manufacturers may not be perfect, but I've never heard of them having greater than one third of an order being defective. Nor have I ever heard of a manufacturer demanding that the consumer become an expert in their product as to be able to do quality control for them. By the way you pay a good price for Shaw's product and you are expected to do their job for them for free. Or is it you are paying them to do their job? Rest assure they had lawyers write up that warranty for them. Their job was to make sure that Shaw will never be held accountable for their own actions. Their lawyers have done their job well. Because of this clause in the warranty, poor craftsmanship from the factory is now the customer's fault. Shaw is just another example of why the American public prefers to purchase products manufactured overseas. There are some overseas manufacturers that are extremely desired because of their high quality and durability. I write this on a computer that is an American company and yet the manufacturing facilities are in China. It has the highest customer satisfaction of any computer manufacturer. Nobody that I know of would even consider buying an American manufactured computer. I need to add flooring to that list. read more

I'm seeing a trend with all these reviews and I agree. Put new engineered hardwood in my house by a licensed contractor and it cracked in multiple places. Currently in the battle of resolving this issue but was ultimately given some excuses about installation error and climate. Claim has been denied. We (San Mateo, CA) had Shaw Carpet installed 3/21/2010 (Shaw Green Edge, Tuftex Imagine Z6930), within a few weeks many of the loops were obviously raised up quite high. We have no kids, no pets and don't wear our shoes in the house, and are therefore, the gentlest anyone would ever be on a carpet. The installer filed a claim. Shaw's flooring forensic person came out. He basically said all the raised loops is a common manufacturing defect. We now, on 7/28/2010, have 98 raised loops and growing. He said the raised loops problem is not from the vacuum. But he said not to use the beater bar on the vacuum as it may grab the raised defect loops and pull the carpet. So we basically bought a carpet that we can't vacuum because it's so defective but Shaw won't stand behind their warranty of "free of manufacturing defects". It's so incredibly obvious that it is a manufacturing defect because the problem is only on one of two identical carpets (but different colors). The forensics guy hinted that the most Shaw would do is send him back to cut off the loops (which he says make the pattern...so basically we're going to end up with a non-loop carpet, which we would have bought in the first place if we knew we were going to have to cut our own.) The forensics guy basically said we need to crawl around on our bellies every couple of weeks and cut the raised loops (oh yeah we have nothing but time to do this) and hopefully in a year or so, the loops will stop coming up (yes, because we will have a non-loop carpet). Oh yeah, we bought the carpet because it's "Tuftex" and Texture Guard Warranty states "carpet will not exhibit significant loss of texture from foot traffic for a period of 10 years". With no shoes, no kids, no pets, in 4 months the "wear path" is showing. read more

I wish I could give this company 0 stars. I would highly recommend that no one purchase their carpet. After spending over $7.000 on carpet and installation we experienced the same raised loops problem as the other post I read. The carpet (Endura 3 Nylon E0813 What's Up) simply just looked terrible after installation and we complained right away. After several weeks they finally sent an independent inspector out who filed a report with Shaw. After another week or so Shaw got back to the installation company and acknowledged defects in the carpet (but the upstairs only - why it was all the same carpet!). They agreed to replace the upstairs only or give us a credit. After another two weeks we found out that the credit they were offering was only $700 (10% of what we paid). We are now working with the installer to have the upstairs carpet replaced - not sure if it will be any better. read more

We have been doing business with Shaw Industries since the mid 70's and they have consistently provided excellent flooring products with competitive prices and most important having being the back end support that is critical to any flooring manufacturer. Most recently the fact that all the hard surfaces are manufactured in the USA has been a big selling point to our consumers. read more

Do not buy Shaw Laminate flooring. Its terrible. Worst Laminate Flooring ever. Don't waist money on it, customer service sucks. If you do get it. Don't put anywhere there is water. So if you plan on walking in your house and it was raining outside or snowing. Yep it will warp. It will also, warp if you mop it with a swifter. So I have no idea how you are suppose to clean it (Dry MOP:( is what they recommend, not sure how that gets off dirt and other things kids and pets leave!) Also, If you have kids, I wouldn't get it. They will scratch it up and ding it up. Scuff it up and not to mention spill juice or water and if you don't catch it for let's say 5 minutes. Yep, it will warp. I've had it for less than 8 months and yep already warps. Let just say, I have to crawl around on my hands and knees every night before bed to make sure there is nothing that could make it warp. You probably shouldn't have a fridge with an ice maker on it either. Just in case one ice cube falls out and you are gone or a sitter is watching your kids. Yep it will warp, by the time you get back. VERY VERY unhappy. I do not have pets, but if you did this would not be good. read more
