I was eagerly waiting for this place to open since the sign came up and it did not disappoint!…read moreThe place is spacious, the interiors look welcoming and the music is loud enough to drown the voices around but quiet enough that you can hear across the table. But the best part of the place is the food. The buffet (which is the only option for now but a la Carte is coming soon) is aptly priced. There are 10-12 entree options which as many sides, a fully functional salad bar, and soda and desserts. Everything was cooked to perfection and refilled promptly. It was obvious that the whole Padilla family has put its heart into the place. Make sure to try this place ASAP and talk to the owners. You will not be disappointed.

First, the best way to describe this place is a buffet featuring all the items you typically find in the American food section of a Chinese buffet. Blah! It's the stuff your average finicky child might want, like Chicken Nuggets, Hot Dogs, and Mac n Cheese, but not as a feature for a restaurant. They do have a decent fresh salad bar, but not any better or worse than other salad options available in downtown Peoria. My lunch consisted of fresh veggies from the salad bar, with olive oil. The olive oil was of particularly low quality, mostly flavorless. Also had a couple chicken tenders, which were not bad. There were baked chicken pieces, three different types of potatoes, rice, pan broiled white fish, the items listed above, sauteed veggies, pizza bread, and pulled pork sliders. Drinks were sodas, ice tea, and cool aid. Yes, cool aid. Food quality is akin to what you might find at a hospital or cafeteria. With meat being overly greasy and overcooked. At $15 per person, I will spend my money elsewhere. The title of the restaurant is misleading. Nothing multi cultural about it. This restaurant is a way to fill your stomach, full stop.

She was friendly, personable, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Even when a few items were unavailable, she communicated it honestly, transparently, and with such grace that it never felt like an inconvenience. Throughout our meal, she checked on us regularly, anticipated our needs, and always had a genuine smile on her face. As Texans traveling through Illinois, we were pleasantly surprised because Savanna reminded us of the very best of Southern hospitality. Her warmth and professionalism turned an ordinary meal into a memorable experience. Cracker Barrel is fortunate to have someone like Savanna on their team. If you're dining in Morton, I hope you have the chance to be served by her. You'll be in excellent hands.

Service was a little slow but I think it's because there was one server for half the restaurant. I ordered the country fried steak and it was amazing! So good, thick meat, not too much batter, it was great! The hash browns were okay, not a lot of flavor and dry. Cute little gift shop inside the restaurant that sell a lot of old school candy. When we went, it wasn't busy, and we didn't wait at all to be seated. Overall, we all enjoyed it!

Our…read moreserver was amazing and on top of our drinks, checked in several times to make sure the food was good. I believe the owner (or possibly the chef) stopped by and made sure everything was up to par as well. I honestly thought it was going to be a much smaller space as when I'd driven by it looked small, but there was so much seating inside! The decor was beautiful, too, and the music was awesome. We both had chicken and waffles and my LORD it was so good! The waffles were so crispy and flavorful (I've seriously never had waffles so good in my life) and the chicken was breaded well, perfectly seasoned, and was super fresh. I'm pretty picky about sweet tea. If Wilford Brimley doesn't side eye me with serious concern as I drink it then don't even bother. This was so perfectly southern sweet I was in heaven. Sweetest sweet tea I've had in Illinois. I'd go back for that alone even if the food was just okay. We had decided on fried green tomatoes (which were soooooo dang good and zesty!) when she told us they JUST got fried okra and I said both. Just give us both. I'm a fried okra fiend and was so happy I could've cried. The okra was fresh and perfectly crispy, and the seasonings, again, were immaculate. Absolutely cannot wait to go back. (I just need to give my stomach a lil rest, we both took home over half of our meal there was so much.)
