The Sheridan Road Hy-Vee has deteriated in the past six months. Not enough check- out lanes opened on a Saturday, poor produce and no cash self-service lanes. Had guest baggers today and a butternut squash placed on top of bread. Over charged for a product, told checker and she said I'll take care of that for you...you guessed it, had to wait in line at customer service. Wasn't able to get several items on my list. Grand Prairie a much better managed store. I will drive a little farther for better service. read more

First, I want to start this off with I'm overly sorry I recommended Hy-Vee Catering. I went to a wedding where I recommended to the bride and groom to use Hy-Vee for catering. The local one I have near me is fantastic. Lord take the wheel. Let's start with the rushed food prep. Then the cooking of all items from the pork chops to cake. It was an absolute nightmare. The food was all cold. The bride and groom did not pay for cold uncooked food. The baked potatoes were not even cooked through. They also paid for service that didn't happen. The staff that was there were kind. I will NEVER recommend Hy-Vee to anyone else ever again. What a mess they made of that catering. My personal favorite is they started serving wedding cake before the bride and groom cut the cake. SMH. The cakes icing literally was not even set on the bride/groom cake. Can we please get Competence in aisle 1? The kitchen manager said to the bride in a snotty way that I'm sure you'll never use us again. Only to come to the conclusion they would comp the beverages. Get out of town. Why is this person in customer service or food service????? Again what they paid for that meal was not cheap. Thanks for the refund on the one thing that is cheapest to you. No one ate the pork chops or the not cooked baked potatoes. I see that you messed this so sideways. A full refund would not have only been the decent thing to do for ruining the entire meal portion. Went to Hy-Vee for their sushi tonight about 7:30pm Walked up to the counter, the guy behind counter loudly sighed and rolled his eyes. Annoying but I could deal with that. The shelf was empty, the woman beside me said he was making sushi and I said I'd swing back around, walked around the store for about 15 mins went back to the counter still empty and same loud side and air fry. Then as I'm walking away, I see he has tons of sushi prepared behind the counter he was just too lazy to put it in on the shelf. Terrible service read more

Was looking forward to putting some meat on the grill after a long day of painting. Sent to Hyvee Sheridan in Peoria. Picked up a baked potato a stuffed pork chop from the meat case and a 8 oz ribeye. Lettuce in a bag and tomatoes to go in salad. Mouth watering headed home to fix what I hoped to be a great meal. Fixed baked potato and when it was done cut it open to find it was rotten inside. Grilled the stuffed pork chop to find the meat so tough couldn't be eaten. ( have fixed these for years from other shops) and grilled my ribeye to perfect medium rare. The steak had absolutely no flavor. So long story short the raccoon that visits our dumpster tonight will be happy as that's where our food went. Hello cheese sandwich. Very disappointing. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars to this location. I received the worst customer service ever in my life. After a long day of working, I decided to go shopping to fill my pantry. My husband and I had just bought a new home in the Orange Prairie area. I spent $400 on groceries and had to bag and load them into my own cart. I love Hyvee's donuts but now they are out of my price range. There was a time one donut was $1. Then not too long ago $1.69 which I thought was high. Then I recently a couple weeks found out it's now $1.99 for ONE donut. I can go to KROGERS and get half a dozen for $4.99. The donuts aren't the only thing but that's was why I mainly went to Hyvee. I'll get my donuts from Kroger's and any bakery that's cheaper than $1.99. read more

I love Hy-vee. Peoria loves Hy-vee so much they're building a new one, hopefully and even bigger one. The store is clean, the employees don't seem miserable, and the lines are so short I don't have enough time to read my gossip magazines. The prices are pretty good and you don't have to have some stupid shoppers card or be strategic about what you can buy because something isn't on sale this week. NEVER buy the generic Hy-vee brand. If you are tempted, go ahead and buy the Sandies pecan cookies and then buy the hyvee brand. Not even close to the same thing. They have a very nice organic food section and a very nice liquor department. You can also get all sorts of cooked food there, Chinese food, Italian food, Southern food, Salad bar. They have these short carts as an option that I like to use because I usually don't buy a lot at once anyway and it's nice to not have to swing this long cart around and worry about blocking people. There are tiny shopping carts for children which could be a potential problem but fortunately, and this is the biggest reason I go to Hy-vee, you don't have a lot of trashy or ghetto people going to Hy-vee. They're all at Wal-mart still or Kroger waiting in lines a mile long. And in a place like Peoria you need to be grateful every time you find a place like that. read more

This location is fairly new and larger than most other supermarkets with a good selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, and natural/organic products at a fairly economical price. Great place to shop if you're interested in healthy food - discovered so much new stuff I really love here The shop itself is well lighted and comfortable. In terms of selection, price, and friendliness it definitely comes out on top - won't be like Wal-mart where you have to wait in long lines for check out - often employees are waiting for you so you don't even have to wait in line! read more

I recently moved to the area from the East Coast and I am going through serious Wegmans withdrawal. It's the best grocery store ever and I miss it. While Hy vee does not fill the Wegmans shaped hole in my heart, it's as good as it gets in Peoria. I normally shop at Kroger and there are some things I am not able to find. We were able to find these things (like steel cut oats, some vegetarian stuff) at Hy vee. I wasn't super impressed with their produce prices. The prices were decent on the organic section and the selection was good. I will definitely be back for certain items. I'll have to check out the Wine and Spirits section next time. read more

Do not trust the Sheridan Road Hy-vee with a floral order for a special occasion! I normally do not write reviews, good or bad, unless something is outstanding either way. The first time I trusted this "florist" with a special event was when I ordered a corsage for my daughter's prom. I provided a rhinestone corsage bracelet I had bought elsewhere to have flowers put on it. While my request was fulfilled, (pink sweetheart roses and some bling) the roses were brown around the edges and the bracelet was broken in one area. It was in perfect shape when I turned it over to them. It was still wearable, and I figured no one would notice the brown edges of the roses, so I let it go. That should have been my first clue not to give then my business again. I made the mistake of trusting them again with a flower order for my daughter's graduation party. I placed my order in person for bright colored flowers, teal, hot pink, yellow, orange, and bright green, as well as some white flowers to mix in with them in loose stems so I could put them together in my vases. I described what I was looking for, and referenced bouquets I had seen in the store on previous occasions. The young woman I spoke with was helpful and friendly, but unsure if my request could be met. We talked it out, she seemed to understand what I wanted, and assured me that if my request could not be met, or if there were any questions, someone would call me. I heard nothing back and assumed all was well. I went today to pick up my flowers and was greeted with a pitiful mess that wasn't even close to what I requested. I was told that the type of flowers I requested were only available in the summer. The flowers I requested in the colors I wanted were dyed to color so I was confused by the comment. Flowers can only be dyed to requested colors in the summer?????? Really??? I managed to pick out what I thought I could work with from the offerings I was presented with (mauve mums??? I think not) and also found some bouquets in the case with the colors I requested that I thought I could work with. The nice employee did try to do what she could for me, so her service was not an issue, but the ball was clearly dropped between what I ordered and what I got. To add fuel to the fire, as I was walking away after paying for flowers that were not what I wanted, I saw graduation bouquets made up in the exact type of flowers I requested!!!! Buyer beware! If you want a bouquet for an every day occasion, this is a fine option. If you have a special occasion, and you expect what you request, you would be better off spending the extra money going to a real florist!!!! read more

The Wine & Sprits section rocks! And here's the top 3 reasons why: 1) Separate entrance. No time-wasting traipsing through the whole grocery store like Schnucks and Kroger. Always close parking, get in-get the beer-get out and get partying! 2) The staff is specific to this department only. So they know stuff. A lot of stuff actually. I was sent in by a friend to buy...*shudder*... sparkling sweet red wine. That was my only clues and I was immediately shown 2 varieties. They have wine tasting all the time at the counter where I learned about oaked vs. unoaked chardonnays and merlots. These guys are equal to the amazing knowledge also held by the wine section employees at UFS only Hy-Vee is not in the ghetto! SCORE! 3) Um, it's cheap. Cheaper than WalMart, cheaper than Friar Tucks, cheaper than the gas station. My fav specialty beer is a $1.00 less here than anywhere else and is sometimes on sale for even less!! Their hard liquors go on sale on a regular rotation so if you go about once a week you can stock a whole bar for $5 less on average per bottle. read more

I am from Chicagoland, and I had never heard of HyVee until one of my friends told me about it. I was hesitant about coming here at first because I didn't think there would be a huge difference between them and any other grocery store, but I was totally wrong. As a Bradley college student that typically doesn't buy real groceries, I was truly amazed at what HyVee had to offer. Its a very huge store with large selection of groceries, but what I most enjoy is their bakery, and cooked foods. They have cooked Chinese, American, and Italian food daily, that tastes great and is affordable. Growing up in Iowa I was used to great service, selection, and prices whenever and wherever I shopped at one of their stores. When I moved to Illinois I was waiting with anticipation for them to come to Peoria, and they have not disappointed. This is the place that others only try to copy. Whether it's produce, deli, meats, dairy, frozen foods, liquor, the variety and freshness of their items are first-rate. I'm reviewing the bakery. Me and my husband went to the HyVee bakery 4 months before our wedding. We heard a lot of good things about the bakery and wanted to try it out. We went in knowing we wanted 100 specialty cupcakes and a small 2-tiered cake. We did cake testing and decided on everything in May. They told us we didn't need to pay right away, but to call at least 1 month before the wedding to pay and everything would be good. So, I called at the beginning of June (our wedding was July 3) to pay for our order. I told the woman our name and she put me on hold for a few minutes. Then she came back on and told me that they had lost my order. So I scrambled to remember what we ordered and placed another order. The lady then told me that she would give me 50% off because of the issue, which I appreciated. I then received a call the next day saying they had lost my payment information and needed it again. I gave it to them again and then the woman proceeded to tell me that I would not be receiving a discount because she had no record of anyone telling me that I was supposed to receive a discount, and she tried to charge me full price for everything. I then asked to talk to the manager and she agreed to give me the discount. At that point I thought it was all over but I was very wrong. On the day of our wedding, my husband's mom went to pick up the cake and cupcakes. When she got it to the park, it was absolutely not the cake we ordered. It was decorated differently and was not the right color at all. However, all the cupcakes were right so that was a relief. Then when we cut into the cake, the flavors were all wrong. It was supposed to be a chocolate cake on the bottom with a fruit filling. The bottom was a plain chocolate cake. The top was supposed to be marble, it was white. I called a few days after the wedding to tell them about the issue and the woman I spoke to told me there was nothing she could do for me and I just hung up. Our whole experience was just ridiculous and to be told that there was nothing she could do for me just made everything worse. I would have given only one star but the cupcakes were delicious. read more

This is such an amazing store! Some stuff can be a little pricey, but their customer service makes it so much better! I've only been here a couple of times, but I had a worker run from one end of the store to another just to check in the back for a product, and he was about to leave for the day! Other HyVees I've been to are okay, but this one is so much better. Another positive of this place is they have products that you cannot find in other stores like Walmart or Target. My group was very disappointed when we went to the HyVee deli 3/25/12, after church for breakfast. Some of our group choice the breakfast buffet & the rest order off the menu. Those that went with the buffet were disappointed when they discovered some of the selections were empty or nearly so, when they asked the help about refilling they refused saying they were closing at 11am, it was 10:30am. Those of us that ordered off the menu waited 25 minutes until we asked what happened to our orders? The deli was nearly empty & the help was standing around visiting with each other. I bought an inch thick ribeye from this store. Cooked it to a nice rare. And yes I know how to cook a steak. Temperature was perfect. Steak was chewy as leather. Taste was ok, but tough as hell. If I wanted to eat jerky, I'd buy jerky. So much for $9 lbs for a shoe leather I think I'll pass. This store has never impressed me ever. read more
