When our kids were little Santa left books at the foot of the bed so they could unwrap and stay in bed and read until it was at least 7am. Well, 20 and 22 and we're still doing it. I needed a couple of recommendations and could not have been happier to have help from the staff. Kind, knowledgeable and chock full of fantastic ideas. What I thought would be me meandering the aisles for hours (not that I don't love to do that, I just couldn't today) turned into a quick amazing process. If I could give 10 I would. Some of the older books I believe retained more value so it really depends on. They also buy , sell and trade books here so instead of getting rid of anything bring em here. One is more of a wide variety but more modern, Tree house focuses more on kids and young adults, the Book Exchange is more like a library with collections, older , modern, categorized etc. this is a wonderful thing because you can't help but go through all of them. Treehouse does have a wide selection but over all vibe is bring your kids in and there is a flavor of literature for everyone. They are price very well and I was even able to get a replica ring of THE ONE RING ... TO RULE THEM ALL lol . Treehouse is a wonderful spot so don't pass it up.

During a road trip to Portland, my wife & I stopped in Ashland for a day.  While walking around…read moredowntown, we found this lovely children's bookstore.  Housed in a former bank, the staff here have crammed children's books, toys, games and other trinkets in every nook and cranny of the place, including inside the bank vault in the back of the store.  They have optimized the small space, offering the inventory of a much larger store.  Despite the vast number of titles available, the store is very clean and well organized.  The staff are also very helpful and were willing to answer all of our questions.  This is a must stop for us the next time we visit Ashland!

The store (which I think was once a Yoga studio) has 2 spacious rooms (front and back) and plenty of space to spread out and dive in. The selection is well curated (and organized) and priced accordingly. Hermeticus really requires multiple visits as there's so many exploration options. The person working the day I was there, was well versed in what topics I chose to bring up. I'll be sure to visit again the next time I'm in Ashland and hope that I can pull the trigger on a unique art piece or some personal literary masterpiece.

I have spent a lot of time and money here. The prices are all over the place, but it seems to average at $6-$10 per paperback, if it's a popular series it will certainly be near $10 or higher. I recently traded a series of books and was shocked by the store credit I received. I traded a new series of popular books that are hard to get second hand. The series is so new it's still being sold in big book stores for $60. I received $1 store credit per book. I couldn't even get an older $6 paperback I found with that credit. I understand that's how they make money but I am still disappointed. I will now only come here to buy used. I would have rather donated to the library for that price, that way I could at least check them out again.

I bought a copy of the CD version of the audiobook "Arctic Storm Rising" by Dale Brown and the…read morediscs skipped. I tried them out in different CD players, including a brand-new one. I contacted Blackstone and they sent me a new copy, but the discs still skip. I don't know how to solve this problem. I don't know if its because the discs are released on a CD format that's inferior to regular CDs or if having twenty-nine tracks somehow causes it. I guess maybe I'll never know, but they need to produce better-quality CDs.

One time I wanted an audio book in MP3 format that was available only on CDs. The receptionist said, "Let me see if we can make a MP3 disc for you; wait here. In a few minutes she returned with the MP3 version, hot off the disc burner. Another time I bought a book just issued and found major defects in the recording. I took it back and was warmly thanked for discovering the defect that was in all the current run. The problem was fixed and I received a corrected copy in the mail. There are always books on sale or clearance. Blackstone employs actors from all over to read the books, including some of the local Shakespeare actors. A few years ago Blackstone and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival begin recording one Shakespearian play each year from the full production.
