Shady garden in middle of summer day.

The cafe upstairs is a wonderful place to hang out both inside and in the shady garden.

Don't you love walking into a bookstore, asking the clerk about some obscure title and, he not only knows exactly which book you're looking for, he has it in stock and shows you the other titles by the same author that are also available? This quaint little shop is well lit, neatly organized, pleasantly decorated, not too crowded and not too spare. The children and teen sections are adequately stocked, and the latest bestsellers to classic favorites are all there and available. What I would've appreciated was a little more time and perhaps somewhere in the shop I could sit to linger over a page or two of my next favorite book that I simply haven't read yet.

A secret garden cafe is part of the charm of this great bookstore. Only 1/2 a block from the Ashland Springs Hotel. They have sandwiches, quiche, and a featured salad plus coffee drinks and pastries for breakfast or an afternoon break. Casual and inexpensive plus you can browse for books downstairs. My husband loved the Chile Relleno quiche and I had the quinoa salad which was fresh and delicious. We are planning on heading back tomorrow morning for a cappuccino and pastries.

Lovely bookstore, great titles. It will suck you in! This is one of those independent bookstores where the community needs them as much it needs the community. The garden nerd in me found nirvana with my purchase of Monty Don's gorgeous new book. If you can read please support this gem, and if you can't read, well, I'm sure they have books for that too!

Very nice bookstore in the old school vein. It's all new books, but they have a good selection. . Be sure to go upstairs where there is a coffee nook and some more books. It's definitely old school and a lot of fun, gives me a flashback to bookstores I knew in the 80s! Also, friendly and knowledgeable staff. If you have wheels, and can get away from the touristy downtown core, go to the Bookwagon in Ashland. The Bookseller there buys and sells old books and he sells new books at 20% off. He can also order new books, or any book for that matter, for you at a discount. Why pay full retail? I personally sell my used books to The Bookwagon, and enjoy the pricing there!

Could stay here forever. If they're looking for someone to move in, I'm applying for that! I would read my way through the store if I could. Such a warm environment and the staff is dedicated to helping you search for the book you need (and go above and beyond if it is not in the store). Be sure to check it out. Loved the cute coffee shop upstairs, too. This is every cozy vibe you could dream of and more!

We were visiting Ashland for tattoos and my daughter was looking to replace her journal. The tattoo artist (Universal Rites) recommended Bloomsbury - so that's where we went. Had I realized there was a coffee shop, I would have saved my $$ at the 'chain coffee shop' and bought one at Bloomsbury's. At any rate, my daughter didn't find the kind of journal she was looking for, but she also looked for books by a specific (eclectic) author. The gentleman at the cashier desk was very friendly in helping her, suggesting like/similar authors she may also find interesting. I liked the small store atmosphere - and appreciated the wide selection of genre of books!

Books (of course) and a good selection of magazines and cards. Nice layout. A fun place to spend a couple of hours when in Ashland.

They do have a pleasant little coffee shop just upstairs of the actual book store part of the building.

I entered this contest and won it. Was living in Klamath Falls when contest ended but was not…read morenotified of the win until I had moved to Eagle Point 6 months later. Since was winter had to wait until snow over Highway 140 was gone to go pick up prizes. Was then told the $5,000 prize was not local but was through some place in Chicago so I didn't win that. Having no access to the rules as it was taken off the website it was not something I could check. I did get the two recliners from bedroom gallery, who were absolutely wonderful! As for the tv, it had been stored by Basin Life Magazine. After getting it to my home, opening the box, found the screen was cracked from top right corner to lower left. Contacting Mr. Casey, was told he would not make it good. The damage had to have happened while it was stored in his possession. So basically, ended up with no money, no TV . I'm very happy with the recliners from Bedroom Gallery, again even though it had been months, Bedroom Gallery held up the end of their bargain and came three beautifully. I am distressed with Basin Life magazine and Mr. Casey. Have never posted a bad review in my life for anyone but would hate to see someone else enter a contest through Basin life and go through the same thing that I did. I am a business owner myself and I understand how these things can work. I could have been contacted for the 7 months after the contact ended while I still lived in Klamath falls, but that did not happen. Anyway, so that's my review!

It was…read moreopened on Nov. 9, 2021, at a B Street storefront in Ashland, steps from its intersection with Fourth Street in the Railroad District. One of the original owners recently passed and if you want to buy one of his fascinating and original wall art pieces, good luck! Past that, this is definitely a book store of literary titles that you didn't previous know that you needed. The store (which I think was once a Yoga studio) has 2 spacious rooms (front and back) and plenty of space to spread out and dive in. The selection is well curated (and organized) and priced accordingly. Hermeticus really requires multiple visits as there's so many exploration options. The person working the day I was there, was well versed in what topics I chose to bring up. I'll be sure to visit again the next time I'm in Ashland and hope that I can pull the trigger on a unique art piece or some personal literary masterpiece.

Not what you'd expect, the little used bookshop is full of rare and fascinating books on Alchemy, knowledge held by Mystery Schools of the past, and quite a selection of rare books on similar subjects. The owner was super friendly and helpful, even gave me a birthday discount on my purchases. Only in Ashland could a place as cool as this exist.
