One of the best shops in Ashland. I didn't even notice this shop until my last day in town. They had a bunch of Doctor Who merchandise: posters, shirts, and a heat changing mug. The posters were only $6 (but that was years ago). The T-shirt they sold said "keep calm and don't blink" on it. They also sell DVDs and records. read more

Not an actual record shop, more of a bric-a-brac music shop that carries a lot of CD's. Good vibe and good people, not a lot of vinyl.

There is a variety of things here from DVD's, a decent selection of (mostly rock and contemporary, to some classic) vinyl carefully picked, and nick nacks like rock and roll t-shirts and maybe a few touristy or frivolous things. It's a very fun store. I wanted to get some vinyl for my rock and roll son and this place definitely delivered. If that's your need it is probably the 5 star or best place in all of Ashland for that. This is a fun store! They have plenty of new and used CDs and movies, and fun t-shirts and posters, too! They also have cool trinkets and collectibles (Dr. Who, the Beatles type of stuff), and a cute selection of My Neighbor Totoro accessories, among other Japanese things. They have silly little Japanese snacks and candies, keychains, stickers, erasers, etc. Honestly, the guy who (I'm assuming) owns the store is a bit awkward. Like he doesn't know much about human interaction (lol). But hey, his store is pretty cool. Pretty decent prices too! I love Diana's records. I stop there frequently and always go there first when I want to order CD's or vinyl. Very friendly knowledgable staff who know their stuff, fun decor and knick-knacks. Great place to find cards, posters, apparel, gift wrap, all kinds of fun stuff. Their collection of used recordings is huge and fairly priced. New and used, both abundant. Don't know why the reviews on here are slamming CD or Not CD. I stopped here for the first time when I was checking out Ashland, and when looking for a record store in southern oregon, this popped up and well.... the shakespeare kitsch convinced me this was it. I now live in southern oregon and this is my go to record spot. Here are some highlights: Selection of weirder, harder to find music Lots of vinyl Lots of Anime/Cartoon/Tiki kitsch value A used CD bin that has a pretty good selection, 4.99 and up The prices are a bit high, especially for vinyl. HOWEVER, I don't know of anywhere else to find music I want, especially things like garage/psych, punk/goth/70-80s obscurities and let's not forget the KITSCH people, retro lounge and surf music. If something is really too much, I won't buy it. I do wish that the folks working there would at least acknowledge me, I make special trips there and although i spend only as much as I can bear to quench my musical obsession, I do always spend more than change and I am fairly recognizable. Just. Saying. I HATE music coop because not only are they overpriced, but they are insultingly overpriced. there are records in there I have seen elsewhere for 3, 5, even 10 dollars at double, triple, even 10 times the price (literally, a $3 for $30). I guess they figure, who around here would know these are in cheapy bins up and down the west coast? The selection is not impressive. To give you an idea, I have purchased records and cds in: New York, Boston, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, and even Amsterdam and London to name a few. Wow, this place is just packed with cool stuff. I agree that it's not as large as places you can find in the SF Bay Area, but I don't know of anything in the downtown Ashland area that really compares when it comes to square footage. It's jut not as big of a town. That said I love, LOVE, that they have a section just for musicals and music related DVD's. I could spend a lot of money in that section alone. The wide selection of trinkets kept my son engrossed for about half an hour before he could figure out what to spend his allowance on. I recommend you go and take a look at what's in the window at the least, and go in if you are feeling in the mood to explore. read more

I've been into this store several times and I always purchase something over there. They have a great selection of CDs, DVDs, vinyl, tshirts, and various knick-knacks from stickers and buttons to themed board games and metal lunch boxes. They have new and used DVDs and Blu-rays (both common and obscure titles). If you're looking for something that's discontinued or rare then I would say to call or go to CD or Not CD for it. However, if you want something fairly common like a current film or TV Show then I would go on Amazon or to another store because it's much more expensive here. As far as customer service, I thought the lady working today was very sweet. Other times I've been there, I feel the same as others have complained about...like I'm being carefully watched. Ashland is a tourist town, lots of people are going to go in there and lots of those people are probably going to have shopping bags from other stores. I worked in retail for a long time, instead of making people feel uncomfortable we would offer to hold their bags up front so they could look around. Worked like a charm! Anyways, I had fun in the store today and I'll be back again like always! read more

maybe i'm spoiled by all of the great record stores in the bay area, and maybe the small amount of vinyl they felt was worthy of storing up where you could actually look at it, was worth the upwords of $30 they were charging for it (I actually saw one beatles album that they wanted $200 for..eek!!!!!), but I was just so underwhelmed by what I found here. They had a lot more vinyl than can be seen at first, second, third, fourth, or fifth glances, but they are stuffed into crates, on the floor, under cd cases, in tiny, cramped, aisles. They were also charging $5 each for this vinyl, which has probably sustained goodness knows what kind of damage being stored in such a manner. the two star rating explains it all. meh. read more

The lady was really nice and she let us hang a poster for our show we were playing in town. There were some really kool shirts I wanted like Bewitched, Night Gallery and Mothers Of Invention. I'm from out of town but I'd shop here over the record store up the street. They were kinda rude and when a girl asked for a Cults CD he didn't seem to know who they were. :-/ "CD" is way more affordable and they carry a lot of different items. read more

Cd or Not...How about NOT! Dedicated to lenny the LOSER, A couple of days ago I purchased a t-shirt that says "pave the world" at lenny's dump. The reason I purchased the shirt is because I thought it was pretty funny and, also thought it was unique. As soon as I stepped out the door I already had buyers remorse. Reason being is that, although, it was a clever phrase, the design was very poor. I tried to justify the purchase as I was walking down the streets of Ashland, but found it to be a difficult task at hand. Luckily I stumbled upon the restraunt Larks to ease my mind. Great meal with the client service to go along with it. Fast forward to the next day: after trying the t-shirt on I was even more displeased. The quality of the shirt was thin and very poor. Let me just say, if you are looking to conquer the wet t-shirt world championship, then ladies, or gents, this is a guaranteed winner! I've found the free toilet paper at Target to be is a much thicker ply. My conversation with lenny: so I make a special trip from Medford out to Ashland to return this shirt exactly 2 day after I purchased it. I informed the young girl at the counter that I would like to return the shirt. She then tells me that they can only exchange the item and points down at a sign the size of a sticky note on the register that says exactly that. I tell her politely that I am not interested in an exchange and would like my money back. She then tells me that my only options are either an exchange or store credit. I told her that I'm not from here, so her store credit does not do me any good, and I was not interested in anything they had in their store. At the time the store had two customers there, so I politely let them finish there transaction, so I would not disrupt their business. It seemed as though the young girl tried to ignore me a bit as if I were just going to accept her offer. Luckily there was an older lady there who started to call and text the owner. The final result is that lenny would not return my money. I then asked them to call lenny so i could speak to him and was confident the problem would be resolved. I myself am a business owner and stand by my workmanship, and provide the utmost client service I possibly can. I asked len if customer service was important to him, and he commented with we are a small store and it is common not to give refunds. I was very nice with lenny at first and was still confident he would return my money. He told me no several times and said this was their policy. As a small business owner, just like len, my only policy is a satisfied client. He asked why I wanted a refund and I told him I didn't like the way it fit upon other things. He told me that I should of tried it on before I purchased it. I then explained to len the LOSER that it was not good for business to have half naked men trying on t-shirts in front of his other customers. I also explained that if we did such a thing in California, we would be removed from the store. After I started getting upset I informed len loser that I would write a bad review on yelp. So here we are! All of this for $19. And some change. This is my first review on yelp, although I have used yelps reviews for my own personal research, it took lenny the losers actions for me to actually become a member. I have been going to this locally owned store for years. In middle school my best friend and I would save our money to buy Beatles CDs and t-shirts. In recent years, I've been impressed with their used selection, and they almost always have what I'm looking for. The one time they didn't have the CD I wanted, they special ordered it for me and I got it quickly and for a good price. Their prices and selection are better than other places around town, and I like knowing that they have been around for a long time. read more
