Had Sharp's come out to fix our shower/tub diverter and address a backing-up kitchen sink. 15 minutes later everything works like a charm!

I was on vacation across the country when my water heater failed. When I returned home I began looking for someone to help me get the situation resolved. The guys at Sharps were able to come out the same day - they gave me an estimate and when I was at work the next day they replaced my water heater and also hauled out an old water softening machine from my garage that came with the house when I bought it. Price-wise, maybe it could have been better, but I was just happy it was resolved so quickly. My only issue at this point is that they never gave me an invoice, so I'm going to have to contact them about that. Otherwise, it was all good. Thanks! read more

I am a strong supporter and believer in being local and using local businesses. I need to express the issue I experienced with Sharp's Plumbing. We were noting an increase in our water bill and could not discern the problem. We called Sharp's Plumbing and they came out. They said the leak was from a flapper with a hole in it. They replaced the flapper and charged over $187. I am more than willing to pay for quality work yet their work was completely subpar and their customer service non-existent. They checked the tanks in two bathrooms, removed items on the backs of the tanks and left them in the sinks. They left all lights on in the master bedroom, both bathrooms they entered as well as the hallway lights. All doors were left open which is a problem since we have a dog. Mud from work shoes was left all over the bathroom floor where they did the work. The biggest problem was that after they changed the flapper and left, we discovered later that night that they had loosened a tank washer and water was quickly dripping from it and all over the floor. Nearly half an inch was all about the toilet. I turned off the water and will repair it myself. When I called to register a complaint, the owner explained that he is very busy and they can't take the time to turn off lights or shut doors. He also said that sometimes when making repairs other things happen. He never once offered to come out to repair the problem he caused (he admitted that he came out on the call) nor did he offer any discount on the shoddy work. He ended my call by saying that he hoped we'd call them in the future for other work and I assured him that we would not. If you choose to use this business for plumbing work I suggest that you watch them closely. We were not at home but had my father-in-law let them in to complete the work and he couldn't follow them upstairs. Brent is a terrible plumber. His work is shootie at best. We put in a whole new bathroom, and because we knew his parents, gave him the work. HUGH mistake. It's been going on three years and we have had nothing but problems with the plumbing. We have called him a few dozen times to fix his work, and he has his wife tell us to call someone else. I should have read the reviews before calling, but they are one of the few outfits that pop up when you search for Hot Water Heater Repair in St. Helens and they were the first people to call back. So, I smelled burning from our water heater closet, so we shut off the power and remove the panel and found a bunch of burnt wires. My husband thought this was something his dad was not capable of fixing, so I called around to both plumbers and electricians in the area. They called back first. I asked for a quote and explained the problem. He said they could come out right away and look at it. I told him I didn't have time today. We needed to get an Xmas tree. He insisted they could be there right away for a quote. I said okay. 2 men come over. One looks at it for about a minute. He says that he could not feel any moisture and is not sure why the wires are fried. He tells me that my heater is 40 gallons and that I am plumbed for a 50 gallon and that he cannot find a manufacturer's date on the heater, so he doesn't know how old it is. He tells me since he doesn't know how old it is he doesn't recommend having work done on it if it will go south soon. He then quotes his hourly rate. Which is $95 an hour. Per person. And they always use 2 people, so really $190 per hour... plus parts. He then quoted me for a new heater...$1000. An I'm not sure if that includes labor. He kept insisting they were the cheapest in town and that a new heater is the way to go. Ok, I think I will have my father in law look at it and call if we need a pro. 2 weeks later I get a bill in the mail for $95. They didn't tell me they were charging me to come over. But, I thought back to his quote and he mentioned he would waive the diagnostic fee if I picked up their bid. At the time I brushed it off. He didn't diagnose or estimate anything. They didn't mention a fee, "No,"I thought briefly, "they cannot be charging me for this, they must be talking about a later appointment..." I mean, they told me info they could've told me over the phone which all I wanted. They did not tell me there was a fee to come over. I did not want them to come over anyway. Everyone's time was wasted. The whole operation seems shady and underhanded. They essentially didn't guarantee their work in the quote and basically told me to get a new water heater. Maybe I was stupid and naive. I guess every plumber/electrician/carpenter/contractor will charge you to come over? He was so insistent and didn't mention a fee and I am in a vulnerable situation, so I guess I opened myself up for being taken advantage of. I mean I have hired a local plumber before, but I couldn't remember who we hired and I was just calling around for a quote. The people I worked with before were upfront. They also expected payment at time of service which was reasonably and specifically quoted. I didn't get an unexpected bill 2 weeks later like with these folks. I left a nasty message when I got the bill, the day after Xmas, demanding they wipe my account, but I decided I will send in a money order and tell my story. BTW my father in law fixed the problem for $40. read more

My wife asked them to check on the problem we were having then get back to us, they proceeded to fix the problem without authorization and charge us for parts we already had and more time then it actually took them to fix. Thats shady and illegal. read more

We contacted Sharp's and had them do some work for us and were very very pleased. That was the first time, we called and they came very timely. We had another project that needed to be completed in a timely manner as we had out of town company coming. We called everyday for a week, left messages but never got a response which led us to believe they did not want or need our business. He didn't show up for the first 2 appointments. I took a day off work for one of the appointments. When he did show he didn't bring the correct tools and had to use some of mine. He was at my home less than 2 hours, replaces the 'P' trap in the shower and charged almost $ 500! $ 240 an hour for a plumber? I'm fuming! He offered to return and deliver the new shower drain cover that should have been included. Guess what - I've never seen or heard from them again. Called them to help with a bathroom remodel. Brent, the owner, and his "assistant" Bill came out. They measured a few things, cut and capped 4 lines (just enough to stop all my other work until this was fixed), and said they would have to come back. This was on Friday, and they said they would call Monday to arrange a time to come finish. Fifteen minutes later, they called and said they wanted to get paid for the work they had done, and required payment on a daily basis. He said the bill for today is $347.00. My wife dropped off a check that same day. Monday comes and goes... Nothing. Tuesday, nothing. Late Wednesday AM, Bill calls and says "we have a little time to come do some more today". I asked for an estimate of how much to finish the job, and he replied "we don't give estimates". I said it says on your website "Call for a free quote", and I would like a quote. He said he would talk to Brent and call me back in a few minutes. It's Tuesday the next week, and still no call. I had to call someone else to come fix the work they left. This is the worst outfit I have ever come across. Will never even think about calling them, and will tell everyone I know to skip them. read more

We have used the services of a few plumbing companies over the years, but Riley Baker and Sharp's plumbing are by far the best we have come across. Riley is prompt, knowledgeable, and very reasonable on prices. Riley works fast, but took the time to answer any questions we had. By far, the best plumber we have come across. We have had him at our home for two jobs and will not hesitate to call him again. read more

Ouch made the mistake of calling these guys again!!! they reattached a sink drain and installed a new tank kit and connection. 30 min was total time. 198.00 was the bill, OVERCHARGE!!! I complained, they didn't care! read more
